Hey all ya Smallvillians!
Well another May has come, and that means for us that there is about to be something really climatic and cliffhangery happen in the world of the young Clark Kent.
In an attempt to have a positve thread (cause frankly I think this season really deserves some good feedback from the fans...(thats us guy and gals).
So what was your FAVORITE MOMENT of the fifth season? See not quite as easy as you thought huh!
I'll go first: I think that Jonathans death was the single most powerful moment on this show, not just this season, but period. I think that the fact that Jonathan came out of the barn, Clark and Martha see him, they go over to him, and he just gives each one a look of pure love, then he goes, there was no major statement, or theatrics. It had such a real feeling to it, even the scene right before where Jonathan is walking through the barn, already having the heart attack, and walking and breaking some boards under his feet, everything was amplified in that whole scene, going right to the end of the episode.
The cast and crew of the show did such an amazing job on this. the scene with Clark in the barn afterwards, the barn felt so hollow. If anyone has ever lost a person close to them, they understand what I am saying. This was the best episode, scene and acting that I have seen on this show yet!

1) Arrival - Hands down the best episode of the season. The formation of the FOS, Jor-El saying "Welcome home my son", the Kryptonians wreaking havock all over Smallville, the Chlark reveal, and Precious from DM playing as Brainiac is revealed.
2) James Marsters as Brainiac. JM is the man and played the character to perfection. A total asset to the season.
2) The development of Lionel's character. I loved both sides with Lion-El as well as his other side with knowing Clark's secret, the interest in Martha, etc.. His character was one of the most positive things about the season.
4) The Chlark relationship this season and the DP scenes. Really enjoyed seeing Chloe getting hired at the DP, and the interaction with her and Clark there was very cool.
5) The line from Fade from Clark to Lois "Sometimes I think you know me better than anyone" / the shower scene where Clark sees Lois naked. Awesome Clois forshadowing in this episode. The only truely great Lois appearance this season.
6) The missile save in Hidden.

All of the above. Except I'd get rid of #5 and 6 and say this:
Hidden -- the whole episode. From start to finish.

I loved Clark jumping up to the rocket, disengaging the warhead out in space, huge explosion, and tumbling back to earth. That was amazing.

I love Chlark.
But my favorite fictional couple has always been Lois and Clark. I want to love Clois so bad on Smallville. I have just really disliked Lois since after Devoted last season. Fade was the one episode that really made me believe in it again. That is why I put it there.
Hidden was a very good episode. But the highlight for me was the missile save.

I have loved the following...sorry if not in order of svs
1) Of Course in Arrival with the FOS, awesome detail
2) Clark getting shot, it was just so shocking
3) Lexmas, seeing a nicer Lex...watchin that guy put a carseat in the car haha
4) The whole episode of Reckoning
5) The elevator save with Clark and Lionel...
6) The glove of Lex
7) Brainac now...I didn't like his acting in the beginning maybe I was just used to Spike... but Lex and him are classic..
and hopefully I'll love the season finale tonight!

Clark is Arrival was great. I loved it when he picked up Chloe and stood up. The look on his face was spectacular. He really sold "man" instead of boy.
Really enjoyed the first third to half of the season. Liked Lana standing on her own two feet, and I enjoyed Chloe telling Clark he needed to step up and be the hero - even if she was a bit pushy. Loved the two of them being able to talk.
I really liked Aqua (blasphemy, I know) for showing someone who wanted to be a hero, who was devoted to making the world better - I'd have loved to have seen more of that from Clark later in the season. Also enjoyed Cyborg.
Most of the second half of the season didn't do much for me.

Lionel was excellent this season, the highlight of the season really, great acting and total class.
The chloe and clark dynamic was nicely done.
Lionel telling Martha about how special Clark is while Lex and Clark are listening was excellent.
I woudl love to say that the Death of Johnathan kent was one of my favorite parts, because that would have led to Clark growing up and becoming the Man that everyone knows he can be, BUT, since THAT hasn't happend yet, it just seems pointless right now.

Episode 100 was very powerful for me and still for me is the best episode of the show's run. I was not happy how Lana turned to Lex, but all in all , episode 100 was the best of the season.

i really like all the season, it was good. Excep for the worst episode ever "Tomb" but i will talk of waht i like. I really like the end of Clana or i might say the end of drama and is sorta cool that now the naive girl is with the worst guy ever, cool because that show how stupid she is, anyway, i love all the chemestry between Chloe and Clark and im not sure about the future kiss, but i guess Chloes deserve a little of Clark after all she is done for him
Now Jonathan`s dead was really sad i cry a lot, but it was something we all know was going to happen and im glad because now clark is becoming a real man
Finally i love Brainiac, so evil, so challenging it`s isn`t something that is gonna work out at the end of the episode is something much f**k up. So that was refreshing comparing with all the other season that`s why i liked so much
and that was mi longest post, yay!!!

I enjoyed discovering that i actually like chloe as a character. I enjoyed the Chlark stuff.
Although JK dying wasn't a high point ,I liked how they handled it.
I also love the episode when Clark defeated Brainiac in the FOS(I loved the sentimental Kent to Kent dialogue)
And Splinter is one of my faves because Clarkie was bugging out crackhead style...
I loved the shockers...like clana ending so quick, lexana starting so quick and lionel, lionel, lionel!
And last but not least--- Clarkie getting laid....go Clark!

I liked Hidden and Lexmas. But most of all, I loved seeing Michael Rosenbaum getting to be a little bad... excited about more in S6. And the trenchcoat... teh hotness. Ok, I know this isn't a Rosenbaum thread, so I will leave it at that... I am off to have the most pleasant of dreams *wonders off into MR in leather fantasy*

The missile thing was SO Supermanly. Wow. But it was wonderful to see the Chloe/Clark team in action, wonderful to watch Brainiac develop as a character, wonderful to watch Lex and Clark struggle further... Ooohhh.
There were a lot of good MOMENTS, although I think many of the episodes in their entirety were clunkers.

I never thought he had to die. But I thought he would. It's similar to the movies, which Smallville borrows a lot from. I don't prefer it, but he was the most obvious person to die.

Ryan I dont remember your season rankings but I think Hidden should be number 2 for you. It hade the awesome missile save plus the Lion-El story line. That was my favorite ep this season.
As far as best storyline, I have to go with Lion-El. He's my favorite character and with his lack of screentime last year it was great to see him so involved this year.

hate to say it, but season 5 wasn't that strong overall. it had a strong first four eps and a strong last 2 eps, but the 100th ep was just so bad imo. None the less, i LOVED a lot of the clex scenes this season and the finale was my favorite ep ever.

I think a lot of the "B-plots" were what made S5 good, because some of the "A-plots" were downright silly. Lana the vampire? Hypno-slut? Stripper!Lois? Glass-man? The stuff going on to drive the season-long plots with Brainiac and Clark/Lex angst and other character developments and whatnot was the interesting stuff.

Absolutely the "B" plots drove the series, especially after Reckoning. There were a few episodes where I often gave passing attention to the main action hoping for some development in the Lion-El storyline and Cyborg is probably the best example of this. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the main Cyborg story, but the blackmailer subplot was extremely intriguing.
In regards to the Lexana, I've flipped back and forth over it, intially liking it, then disgusted by it, to fully supporting it. I like evil Lana. I don't know why exactly and she hasn't really done anything evil other than support Lex, but it does give her character some definition.

I liked Clark vs. Fine (Splinter, though they didn't fight & Solitude were amazing). The opening 3 episodes were also great. The end of Clana in Hypnotic and Clark meeting JK in Void were also great.
But I think the most genius of all was BRAINInterActiveConstruct. That was maybe the best thing the show came up with since Lex & Clark becoming friends in the pilot (well that and the Kawachee cave).

I really enjoyed the Clark and Chloe fireside chat. It was very endearing, especially with Chloe petting Shelby.
I also thought that Danny Glover was brilliant as Lionel/Jor-El, although I couldn't understand why he was always shouting, "Riggs, Riggs!", and shooting his gun. And that poor stationwagon, are they ever going to retire that thing?
All in all a great season.
Most episodes seem really well done on the surface, but when you look closely, they are really a piece of crap.
I love Chlark.
Clark needs improvement fast !!!
Lex needs a sexy ,sophisticated girl around.
Lana - I don't know her anymore -who is she? Please someone should put her to sleep for a few episodes.
I hate Jonathan's death- why?
I want Lex to be evil knowingly.
The last episodes are too depressing and dark!
Smallville is not a soap opera -please!
I think the best part of season 5 was Jonathon Kent's death. I just would have liked it better if they did it differently sans the flux capacitor.

If they have Chlark moments in S6 I want them to be mostly with Clark & Chloe investigating and helping one another with writing articles and exchanging research (like in earlier seasons). I don't mind the chats about their friends (the 'ship chats) as long as they are kept to a minimum. There has been too much of that in S4-S5.

I liked Hidden. The comic sneaking out scene. Clark and Chloe working as a TEAM and her not being the hero, Clark's death and resurrection scenes with Lana, and especially the Clark loft scene with Chloe. As I've said before it is probably my favorite episode because it had SO many good scenes. I even liked it when Lana got in Lex's face.
What is so disappointing is knowing the show is capable of this type of writing and yet the last half of the season with a couple of exceptions were just blah and forgettable. All the characters seemed to morph into something else after Solitude. Regrettable.

My main reason for liking Hidden was the save. That was up until now the most amazing save Clark pulled off. I also liked the realistic acting and reactions from the Kents. It truly looked like they just lost their son. Gabriel was also a good villian. You can see how screwed up he was by his father turning into a freak and the 2nd meteor shower. It showed that all the bad things the previous freaks did had gotten to him so much that he was willing to exterminate all of Smallville for it. The actor who played him was very convincing.
But going back to the save---I liked it so much that I want to see something like it in the S6 premiere. My hopes are that Clark will intentionally split Kal-El from him on the Moon by heating up green-k that landed from the 2nd shower with heatvision. Then they agree to work together until Zod & Fine are stopped. Kal-El senses where Zod and Fine are and he flies in that direction while Clark does a superjump from the Moon towards that same spot toward Earth (there is no air resistance/friction, so nothing should stop him from making it all the way back). Then you see Zod and out of nowhere Clark and Kal-El are coming down from the sky in that classic double arm/fisted dive that Superman does (especially seen in the Reeve movies; he did the same thing to Aquaman, but in the water) and knock Zod & Fine halfway across the city. This is the type of entrance back to Earth I want to see in S6. It would be the most memorable one they would ever have.

Dude this thread is about" what did you like most about Season 5" Not "what is my lame fanfic for season 6". In the last thread it as what "ill lana do in season six" then somehow it derailed into some Kal el fan-fic. Geez.
What were my favorite parts of season six, when he finally tells Lana, and makes a diamond out of coal like in Superman 3. Thats funny, because he gave Lana a diamond ring in that movie too. Mortal was one of the greatest episodes. Loved Arrival, hypnotic, splinter, solitude, Fade, cyborg, Oracle, vengence, Vessel , Aqua and beyond. Id have to say my fav episode was Mortal. great season overall, a complete 180 from season 4.
now that Aquaman is canned, maybe Al Gough and Miles Millar will actually write some more smallville episodes, so season 6 should be great.

My favorite episode this season was a tie between Arrival and Oracle...I also like few scenes from Reckoning and Vessel.
The best part of this season was the end of the whole Clana on again and off again relationship.
The worst part of the season has to be, hands down, the whole Lexana crap and how Lana just falls head over heals for Lex so quickly after everything she knows about him.

For me the three best moments were emotional ones:
Clark/Martha chat in Solitude:"I don't know what I'd do without you. Dad has given me so much but you're my heart...my soul"
Jonathan Kent's funeral in Reckoning
Clark's anger and grief in Vengeance

My favourite part was where Lana died. :P Pity Clark had to change that.
Nah, i loved the DOH style re-union.
Clark and Chloes kiss.
The scene where Clark jumps/flies with Lana in his arms in side his fortress of solitude just before proposing. The smile she had and confusion at the same time. I guess if he told her the secret... i would've liked her since the one annoying thing about her is the *needing to knoev EVERYTHING*
Johnathon Kents funeral - i don't cry for characters when they die... atleast not usually. But i genuinely cared for him and couldn't help it. I didn't like that he died, but the scene was great. Music, acting... everything. Best of all, the way it looked like Clark to some extent, resented Lana.

Clark on the missile on Hidden. Brainiac trying to release Zod in Solitude before the mess that was Vessel runied everything. VENGEANCE. FRAGILE. the only two good episodes of the season in my opinion. Thats about it the rest of the season was atrocious.

yea that super jump in hidden set this season off for me,arrival was good.Hell really the first 3 episodes were good,Solitude,Splinter,Oracle,Reckoning was good for what it was(But not the best),Vessel.Seein clana get a fair chance and finally callin it quits, the chlark kiss in the finale smh,jk death(Sad but still a good episode). Its a few things about this season I like, not as much as s3 but its definitely a good season.
