Maybe it is me, but I feel the acting hasn't been up to cue by everyone on the show.
I mean yea, Lex and Lionel have great moments, but Lana has become horrible along with Chloe and Clark putting on okay acting.
I don't know what the writer's are doing, but they are really making everyone on the show have no emotion or really putting what they need to into their character.
sometimes Tom just seems to try to hard when he is trying to show emotion and Lana is just there for her looks.
Maybe I am wrong and if I am, point it out because I just feel like they really aren't putting forth the acting talent each person has on the show.

I disagree, I think the acting has been improving lately and even Erica seems to be doing a decent job. But thats just my opinion.

KK is getting worse with each episode. I don't know what it is, but that's how it looks to me.
TW acting was never... umm, that good, but he kept it together. Yet this last few episodes his perfomance was kinda off to me.

I think everyone is acting well. I'm not a fan of durance, but she's still alright. Glover can put on a show on his own, O'Toole is solid, Rosenbaum and Welling get the job done, and Mack and Kreuk have been fine as well. It's the storylines though. If you have a garbage script, there's only so much the actors can do. I think Spell last year was a lot better than it should have been if the acting was lousy, even though the episode was still a mess.

I've been getting the impression that they are all physically tired, especially from Tom.

I think Tom is deliberately understated -- I'm seeing more subtlety from him. I think he's growing. I'm also enjoying Kristin's resentful Lana. She just nails it. I think she's growing, too. AM, AT, JG -- always great, experienced. I've alwasy like Erica. MR is the only one who seems different, but I think that's just me. I like ambiguous Lex. I don't like NOT liking Lex, and I don't like him as much lately -- which is, of course, the way it's supposed to be!
Wildcat, who's that in your avatar?
Maybe they are a little bit tired. But think of it this way the last couple of episodes that have been on the air, were the last to be filmed this season. When a student is close to summer vacation at there school, that's all they can think about, summer vacation (that and getting through exams). How many hours are the actors at work everyday 14, 16, hours? They must be tried, espically during the filming of let's say, the last 4 shows of the year. They have been working on the season since late June, early July. They work long days and many months to keep the fans happy with the show. So, it is understandable that out of 23 episode season, only 19 are great. Smallville is a good show with great acting from everybody except Lana, but that's my opinion.
When students come back from summer what are they?
There full of energy and able to work better. I read about a study in my Stats class, it said that students get a higher percentage, in terms of grades at the start of the year (first semster) rather than at the end of the year (second semster) because they have more engery and more of a drive to do there best work. Same can be said about the actors on Smallville and their performances of the last few weeks. The fact out is there tried, out of energy and waiting for summer break. When there back in October for Season 6, there performances will be better because they'll have more engery.
