To me it seems like the virus was to get Lex's body ready to be inhabited by Zod, maybe the blob thingy is Zod possesing him.
Any thoughts???

I personally don't think Lex will be inhabited (crosses fingers) but I guess we'll find out soon enough :)
Actually, I take that back. Next week can't come soon enough.

I think it is. Makes sure that Zod's "vessel" won't be contaminated by the virus.

I don't know why else Lex would be trapped in a bubble like that. It almost looks like he's being "birthed," or something.

Why would Zod need a 'vessel' in the first place? He's not dead.

yea i agree it is to make him the vessal for zod to use. but like an earlyer poster i wish they did not go this route and have an actual actor for the character. I know this way is cheaper then hiring an actor for a few episode but it is a crappy way to use the character.

That's my thoughts too. Why would Lex call Clark by his earth name and not Kal-el if he were Zod?

That's a good question. I'm not sure where I stand on the whole "Lex is Zod" thing myself, but it does seem odd that Zod wouldn't call Clark Kal-el, or at least "son of Jor-el." Maybe Lex still retains his own memories and is influenced by Zod? Ha, I don't think I even believe that.

In the Mercury journals, Dr. Lee warns Lex that his vaccine can be used as a vessel by extraterrestrials:
"Preliminary tests conclude that the vaccine production was a success. I think you may have done an incredible thing for humanity, sir. But, there is one scenario I should warn you about. Some on my team have hypothesized that the solution's properties could serve a dual, slightly frightening purpose. It seems to us, that bodies injected with this vaccine could also serve as perfect hosts...or vessels if you will. Considering the potential extraterrestrial nature of this mission, I thought that a different perspective might be enlightening to you. To discovery... my friend."
So yes, Zod will somehow have to inhabit Lex's body so that Clark would have to kill Lex in order to kill Zod. Fine knows that Clark won't kill....

I'll buy it when I see it with my own two eyes next week. :)
Until then, I don't think Lex will be Zod.

It's just the trailer. They don't want to give it away so they probably used a sound byte.
Still, the trailer looks obvious (he freakin' FLINGS Clark!) and all other signs seem to point to him being possessed by Zod.
I don't like the idea, I'd rather just see a different actor playing Zod...but there you go.

Ok. So if Lex is possessed by Zod, then Zod has been released already. Why does Brainiac need to threaten him with releasing the virus if Zod is already free?
Lex = the FOTW for the finale ;)

isn't he in the phantom zone? could that be why he needs a vessel?

Well the point of this whole virus thing is to get Clark to release him from the Phantom Zone. If he could 'get out' of the PZ just by inhabiting someone, there wouldn't be all this pressure Brainiac is creating for Clark to release Zod.

Perhaps it's more of a trick to get Clark to unwittingly release Zod from the PZ. I for one don't like the idea of an inhabited Lex, he's becoming more interesting as he is. Uh, then again, I liked Lanabel :)
I know one thing for sure, I'll be screaming at the TV next week around 9pm when they cliff hang us for the summer!

Lex may become the super puppet of Brainiac next week. Another powerful weapon he can use against Clark.
Super heroes vs super villains. Foreshadowing of future alliances?
