...how Chloe feels/felt about him?
At the end, when he and Chloe are discussing Lexana:
Clark: "You have no idea how hard it was to see them like that. It's like I couldn't breathe."
Chloe: "I'm sorry you had to find out that way. I know how much it must have hurt."
Chloe has "no idea" how that feels? So has Clark forgotten that Chloe had to watch the person she loves be with someone else? I'm not really a Chlarker...but really...Clark can be so BDA-like sometimes.

So true. Clark didn't even think twice when she said that. He can be a BDA sometimes. I was very annoyed by this myself.

Ya, he must have long term memory loss because he doesn't seem to remember a whole lot that happened more than three weeks ago does he?

so true! Clark how does it feel to be Chloe.Hurts! At the moment he was talking to Chloe he wasn't even thinking about her feelings for him .He was all wrapped up in Lana land. But I think it will cross his mind. Or at least the writers should make him realize it at some point .Pay backs a B!

Well... in Clark's defense, when Chloe walked in on Clark making out with somebody way back when, it wasn't with her archnemesis =).
That being said, Clark's definitely a few Kryptonian spaceships short of an intergalactic fleet on this one.

Very true and very funny!
I think this is all just set up for a later storyline set for next season, just like I think him seeing Lois naked was too.
When it comes to Lana, Clark doesn't see straight. He can't see Chloe's side of things, until he takes his Lana blinders off. He can't see Lois - even when she's standing naked in front of him. This was clearly evident when the Lana-look-A-like was able to capture his attention. He was mesmerized by her, because she looked so much like Lana. This also proves his facination with Lana is mostly skin-deep. But, the emotions he has for Lana is what snapped him back into reality of who the girl was - not Lana. Until Clark loses those Lana blinders - he can't see what's in front of him - Chloe or Lois.
Am I the only one who watched that scene screaming "MARRY HER!!!!" ?
But, then again, as big of a jerk as he is, I don't know if he deserves her.
Personally, I'm hoping that this could be the beginnings of serious Chlark...
please please please.....
yeah, false hope, i know, but a girl can always wish :)
Poor Chloe. Honestly, she's just flat out too good for Clark.
BDA indeed....

I will just say this because I need to get this out. All I wanted to do was smack Clark. How could he say that to her with everything that happened in the past. All you have to do is look at her face. I felt so bad for Chloe. You could see her understanding, her past hurts, her love for Clark in her eyes, and all he could do was talk about him and Lana. I know they were serious, and he's loved her forever, but you broke it off with her, and he knows why. I mean come on, there is a person thats loved you since day one, always been there for you, accepted you for who you are, why does he continue to look her over.
And as for her last comment, it could mean two seperate things. It could mean that he could move on to someone else. Which hello, who could that be. Maybe someone that knows about him, considering what broke up his last relationship was his secret. Or like it was stated before that he should just move on and away from lana, work on your future. I pick the latter, because I don't think she would mean that. What a BDA, Chloe deserves so much more. Ok, I'm done with my rant now. lol.

I think it's about time that the writers give Chloe a love interest (who's NOT Clark). I don't think they should date because they are better off as best friends, and knowing that Clark's destiny is Lois, Chloe will just get hurt anyway,
There's no denying that Clark loves Chloe. But he loves her as a friend.
That being said, I do think that Clark should be a little more sensitive as to what he says around Chloe.

Yes, but it makes you wonder if the writers even watch the old episodes to remind them of that fact. Or even if they have a fact sheet of interaction beween the regular cast members. Or if that part of the scene was edited out of the episode...

I think it would be good if Clark get a wake up call from Chloe. She been w/ him so long now. It look like Clark will get his feeling on her later when She get a new BF on Season 6. I guess we will see Clark go protecting Chloe from her new bf.

Clark is not a BDA or any other derogatory name in the book. Chloe is nothing more than his best friend...his female Pete who knows his secret. They've never shared mutually romantic feelings. That's always been one-sided on Chloe's part. Chloe told him this season that she's a big girl now (in regards to her feelings about Clark). She has shown her maturity time and time again by openly listening to Clark and trying her best to guide him as any friend would. Lana is the only woman Clark has fallen in love with and that fact has been consistent through the past 5 years. Chloe's infatuation with Clark is not the same thing.

The BDA also refers to him being oblivious about certain things...not just about not recognizing Chloe's interest in him.
He explored his feelings for her in Season 1 and he could do so again...if the writers allowed him to get off the Lana trainwreck. He probably never reached the level of Love for Chloe but he did admit, she was more special to him than he realized.
This could easily be revived once he sees how his life is without her (again). She has been an awesome support for him this season, doing more than Pete ever did in his 2 year role as Clark's confidante.
It's not hard to write Clark as a caring individual..."Oops I shouldn't say this kind of stuff around Chloe". But instead, we still get a Clark who pretty much only mopes around wanting Lana when college girls come on to him, strange but pretty girls around town want to know him better.
Clark also does admit to loving Alicia. The episode writing says so but as I watch the 3 episodes in which she appeared, I just dont see that she could have had that much effect on him. In 2 of those episodes, he practically was still anti-Alicia even if they shared each other's secret.

As far as I'm concerned, they should leave the Chloe/Clark thing alone. They are good friends, opening up another pointless romance on this show to weaken the characters some more is the last thing that this show needs.

I think she was simply telling him to move on (from Lana). That's it.
I do think we'll see Clark in another relationship next year- however I don't think at this point any will be pointless - even the Clana was plotty this year so I'm not afraid of that, only afraid of bad bad retcons.

Totally agree with you here. While I am sure that Chloe might have an idea of what it feels like, her infatuation with Clark is little more than a high school crush. Clark finding out that his first love, his dream girl, the one he lost his virginity to is now with someone who used to be his best friend would be soul shattering in comparison.

I was mad at him and felt horrible for her!!! He is so incredibly stupid!!!!!!!!!!!! i was like, "Do you not realize that she knows EXACTLY how you feel, down to the exact situation?" Yep..he's a BDA

I'm not really a Chlarker...yet....but I felt really bad for Chloe. And, with her whole "you've got to move on" speech, it's like she was hinting at herself. Hello, Clark? What kind of clue does he need that Chloe still has feelings for him? What about a spotlight and big flashing signs? Nah, he's too much of a BDA to notice...

I think TPTB are emphasizing the "man" elements in Superman and how many men are clueless about reading the feelings of others. Superman is the archtypical man: strong, courageous, silent, self assured, distant, and seemingly invincible.
That's my personal theory because I really have no other explanation for Clark's perennial cluelessness.

Hey, I am serious. TPTB are hamhanded when it comes to romance no wonder Clark is as well. Just look at the dialog between Lex and Lana...and the Clark/Lana "breakup" (what was that, their fourth?).

Come on, nospam -- emphasizing the "man" elements in "Superman"? That's funny! ;)
I actually think they're emphasizing the Kryptonian aspects of Clark. He just doesn't get the human condition sometimes.

I agree with you on this, sari_chem. Give her a love interest who's not Clark; let them stay friends. And you are very right that she would just get hurt in the long run because she's not his destiny.

I think because several people write these episodes, and they dont necessarily follow Smallville themselves, they tend to forget some things. Or they think it's funny to make Clark not recognize it. Or they got orders from someone to never make Clark be a regular caring person around Chloe.
John Glover's commentary on "Truth" in Season 3 mentioned that he had never really watched a Smallville episode despite having been on it since Season 1.
I think the writers fall into a similar situation. They have so much to do all the time that they aren't necessarily watching and remembering things on the TV show they are writing for, especially when several teams or people write various episodes.

So far every romance relationship has kept Clark down . If the writers choose to make the Clark/Chloe relationship go a different way, it could be the one that really helps give him a push in the right direction.
After all, every thing he couldn't be with Lana, he can be with Chloe. Every concern he had with Alicia's sanity or illegal activities, he has Chloe who wont have to worry about that. Sure she could regress to her character 2 seasons ago and get all antsy about investigating innocent people. That would be a wrong way to take Chloe though, just because for the sake of TV character development, it's taking a huge step backwards.
Ie, one of the main complaints about Clark right now is, 5 years later, we still don't see much of what will make him Superman.
