Definitely. The gun was a Beretta and that particular model of Beretta has a gauge on the side that tells you if it's loaded or not.

Yeah, I didn't know till I saw (no pun intended) it posted elsewhere. Guy really knew his guns!

Wow. Some interesting info there, I totally didn't know that. But then again, I totally don't know a thing about guns, except about the whole General MacArthur gun thing that Lionel discussed in "Vengeance". LOL. See, "Smallville" is educational. :)

The question is, though, did LIONEL know this about that type of gun? Maybe. Or maybe not. Hmmmm....

Actually it is the extractor that also worked as a loaded chamber indicator. It is only an indicator it would not be wise to use it to know 100% that the gun does not have a live round in the chamber. A filing, wear or a damaged part and even a gun not kept cleaned right can give you a false reading. Sure not enough to risk your life on.

It is like the old saying goes guns are just machines and parts fail.
