I am so proud of the writers.
I have been begging for an episode that had nothing to do with Kryptonite. I have been begging for an episode that had nothing to do with the Freak of the week.

I am very happy.

Clark catching the elevator dropping I will remember every time I step on an elevator. Lionel knowing about KalEl for a year.

Congratulations to the writers. They did a great job on this episode.

I personally like the episodes alot better when they arent about FotWs. it usually ends with them going to bell reeve or them getting killed and it just gets repetitive.

Sure, there was no Kryptonite involved, but how was Lincoln Cole any different than your average "Freak of the Week"?

They did the worst job with this episode. They pulled continuity and put it in a backdrop of Saw. That's terrible, along the lines of Soap Opera terrible such as the time when Tony Dimera got training and a sword from his master Hattori Hanzo, who at the time, was a big part of Kill Bill. Or another example of where Luis and Sheridan from Passions, find out that they're soul mates from their previous life in the Titanic.

When producers start using fads as the theme of their episodes, there is something definitely wrong.

I always thought that FOTW referred to meteor freaks. Lincoln Cole was not a meteor freak. He was a man who wanted revenge on Lionel. His anger and hatred is what pushed him over the edge, not reaction to the meteor shower.

Interesting!

And Lincoln Cole went through all that "elaborate trouble" in revenge only to find Lionel and Martha alive and he sent away in custody!

Amazing! But entertaining!

There is a messege in that....somewhere? Maybe, as much of a puzzle as the ones Lincoln Cole put Lionel and Martha through.

I was very disappointed with this episode, so they didn't use a FOTW. What did they do instead, they just ripped off the concept of saw to fill in the time when they weren't furthering any of the story arcs.

But I agree that the Linoel-Clark and Lexana plots were interesting. I just wish they can make an entire episode dedicated to some of the major arcs, besides the season finale.

I have to second jimmyolsenblues' sentiment!

And hopefully this episode marks the beginning of more drama suspsense driven stories sans the "rock and freaks"!

ok yeah so we got no FOTW but all we knew from that episode is that the writers couldnt think of their own plot lines so they stole Saw in that episode. It was basically the same thing as Saw so although we didnt get any FOTW we still got a plotline that has alrdy been done, i still think it was a good episode though.

I never did watch SAW, but the writer's end result of "Mercy" was for me enjoyable and entertaining!;)

I got to say it was nice to not see Kryptonite in the show. It seems the last couple of shows they avoided that. Considering in the Superman comics it is suppose to be very rare it sure seemed to the most common thing around Smallville. And every color too I was ready to see sikadelic colored kryptonite that turn them all into hippies LOL

Oh man its not back again. I swear they make that stuff so common even when I see a person on the show with a green shirt I think dang they got a kryptonite shirt now?
