While putting myself in Clark's shoes, I'd laugh to myself while Lex pretends to be sincere whenever offering a helping hand for anything. What I mean is....in this epidose when Clark, Chloe, and Lex were working on finding Martha and Lionel.
As we recap...... Lex proposesl to Clark about them being close friends again, Chloe finds the location to where they might be held. So Lex, knowing how Clark is often the hero, saving the day, insists they both go to together. BUT..... not for the reason of his father or Martha being in danger (which he previously confirmed to Lionel, saying his life is only important for his company's future.) But only because he wanted to witness Clark's actions while saving the day. And being that Lionel is at the same location with Martha, it was another opportunity to catch Clark in action (due to his failed attempts in MORTAL with the twins). Plus while watching the video, hearing Lionel's comment to martha about Clark being special, just added fuel to the fire.
Lex couldn't make it more obvious after Clark disappeared while he was distracted by the security guard. Then after the danger was over, at the elevator scene, how he mentioned to Lionel how one moment, Clark was by his side and next he was across town, while carefully analyzing the wall that was smashed in. funny thing is, I don't remember anyone confirming it was Clark that saved the day. I just remember Lionel mentioning to Lex how it was a miracle that the brakes somehow jamed and stopped the fall (which Lex knew was BS.)
Overall, I'm just loving Lex gradually becoming more of a magnificent bastard. Like father, like son! ;)
