.......NOT focusing too much on the Lexana affair. I was so glad when Lex recieved that call on his cell, that made Lana leave and go to Metropolis.

There's obviously more important things to focus on other than Lana's decision on who she wants to be with (Like Brainiac's plots, Lionel's secret agenda, etc. I was paranoid that the writers would force Lois's character somewhere in this episode with something stupid like "she left her pocket book at the Talon and just had to get it." :rotfl:

But in my opinion, this episode, was the one of the best this season, and potentially for the series. As long as they stick to what's important, I will remain a loyal fan.

I was really glad that the Lexana scene was so short. Was sort of annoyed though at that longing gaze that Lex gave her, blech. Plus her phone call interrupted a Clark/Lex scene.:(

Ok, ok. I agree with you completely on being grateful on the writer's not focusing on Lexana. However, I do wish they put a few more Lana scenes in the episode altogether. The scene only lasted for like, two minutes! Kristen isn't getting enough screen time. I sense it coming up in the next episode, though. She just has to be one of the focuses!

I was glad that Lexana was short as well. I'm interested to see the ratings for this episode. If the ratings are still low, then I guess it is clear that many have stopped watching because of the lexana.

yeah, unfortunately they have to follow up with closure with something they've already started, whether it's a good or bad.

My main statement was intially towards this episode. I wish I could take Triplet's place for this week ad post a full review of this episode and score it with a perfect 5 out of 5.

I wouldn't mind more screen time for Kristen (since I'm addicted to her pretty face), but if the writer's were to emphasize on Lexana, my overall opinion towards this episode would've been different.

Heck yes I watched void. I watched Lana being junky and I watched her being a completely great actress. But you must understand.. I. Want. More.

Another thing we should be thankful for after watching this episode is consistency with Clark and Lex's friendship fading. I was so proud of Clark giving Lex the cold stare when he kept suggesting him and Clark should try put bad feelings aside.

Honestly their frienship should've officially ended after season 3 when Clark found out Lex was obsessed and investigated him for 3 years. It just didn't seem right how in one episode (MORTAL) Clark is punching Lex in the face for setting him up, while putting his family in danger. And not too long after that, we see Clark and Lex sitting in the mansion in front of the fireplace, discussing King David. :\ To me, it's just as annoying as Clark and Lana's off and on relationship.

So 2 thumbs up for keeping Clark and Lex remaining distant. It just shows how Clark has matured and won't continue to be naive or repeat the same mistakes. Clark's instincts should react the same towards Lex as it is towards Lionel.

Not if it's going to be with Lex. Have her and Lex breakup offscreen, then feature her more.

Well he still has hope for Lex, but that hope is fading away fast.

This episode was clearly designed by the writers to "focus" only on those immediate characters affected by this twisted gamester that had Lionel and Martha at his 'Mercy'!! Not withstanding there had to be "limited support" for just those fill in plot points.

I agree. I like Lexana okay... their relationship is intriuging, however Lexana comes with Clana. Im sick of Clana and the teenage love drama of the show. :p

lana getting more screen time = crappy episode. i think lana should move wherever pete is and hook up with him there. lana served a purpose in season one. and when they ended it in season 2, she should've left the show. season 3's Adam Knight and Season 4's Jason Teague in my honest opinion served as the greatest discord from the greatness of the show. their on and off bs, and now lex getting into the mix, just makes me sick.

All about Clark

Not only was I greatful for not much Lexana, I was also greatful that Clark doesn't know yet or the angst aspect.

You can always count on few things from a DeKnight episode:

1. Continuity
2. Focusing on whats important with the story i.e. lack of Lexana
3. Intense character driven scenes i.e. Lionel/Clark in Mercy

The relationship stuff should stay as the B or C plot of any story. It really only gets tiresome b/c they make it the A plot of too many episodes and people get fed up.

The only reason they didnt focus on the lexana stuff is because they were too busy ripping off Saw. This episode was terrible. Completely unoriginal. I'm curious to see how they justify this episode on the DVDs.

"I had watched the movie saw the night before, and being an unoriginal whore, i stole the entire plot line".

Absolutely agree. They called this episode Mercy not for Lionel's lack of it, but that the show spared us all but about 60 seconds of Lexana. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Next week, another FOTW, more Lexana, more mopey Clark.

Was Lionel writing down his Jor-el downloads? How will Chloe get an opportunity to decode his eye? Answer this and skip the Lexana. Bring back Victor to thump Lex. Bring back the Lana vampire, she knocked him on his butt. More thump less dump. Time for some answers to where Lana's mind went, too.
