Lionel protecting Clark

I wonder why he's protecting Clark's secret... or at least trying to with Lex. This will be an interesting topic between the two of them for the next few episodes, I'm sure.

He's called him "son" before. He calls Lex "son". Jor-El wouldn't have Lionel's mannerisms, remember how he acted when we saw him in the Fortress? I think when Jor-El is in Lionel, we'll know it.

Can you give one reasons why he would not protect Clarks secret..? I mean if he told Lex then Clark would be in danger..and it would push Lex to become even mor eof the man Lionel doe snot wnat Lex to become even if he told anyone he would be in danger and as Lionel said that would mess with his Destiny, if he can use Clark (in ay way) atleast once that would be well worth not telling anyone compared to the fact he would have no chance at all to use Clark if the world knew as he would probably never see Clark again since im sure Smallville and Kansas for that matter would be swamped with people.

Well, the old Lionel would blackmail and use Clark's secret to his advantage.

This may be a long shot but I think Lionel has not told anyone because he knows Clark's destiny and that he will battle Lex in the future. Maybe that's exactly what he wants, to keep testing Lex. If I remember correctly, Lionel told Martha that he tried to overtake Apex to show Lex about humanity (ironic and odd since this is Lionel), that life is more than just power, money, and greed. Clark's destiny is to save humanity on earth, and since Lionel admitted knowing about Clark's origins and future for over a year now, he must have experienced something to convince him to keep this secret. I think JE inhabits Lionel's body periodically and his presence may be so strong and powerful that Lionel can't help but change some of his ideals. I believe Lionel always was intrigued and admired Clark. Perhaps he really wished he had a son like Clark, someone herioc and "special."

From that last scene, it looks like Jor-El is pulling Lionel's strings. That pretty much explains it all, doesn't it?

If he's not JE then he's Zod. He's not 100% MB anymore. I think JE is afraid for Clark and he is using Lionel to look after him.

I think a lot of it has to do with Martha. He doesn't want to do anything that would make Martha hate him for any reason.
