Metropolis

A lot of the show takes place in Metropolis now. Chloe's at the Planet and university with Lana, Martha has to go there all the time for her work, Clark seems to be there most of the time for Chloe... I wonder if the show will make a more permanent transition in the future, and how soon would that take place.

I dont think the show will ever be called Metropolis but its defenetly transitioning towards that.

I know! This is a welcome change! The setting should change with the characters' maturity. I hope we see much more of Metropolis in the coming episodes and the next season!

I was just thinking that if Clark starts walking in on Lionel at his Metropolis Office, now it will be like how he does to Lex in Smallville.

I dont think it will transition fully to Metropolis, though. After all, Senator Kent still lives at home for the scenes around the farm, and Lionel can show up in Lex's mansion pretty easily.

The show will always be called Smallville in my opinion. Smallville is more than just a location. To me it has always symbolized the whole show in terms of it being about Clark's life before becoming Superman. Until Clark is ready to become Superman, he will always be known as Smallville to me.

Never said that the show should have a name switch, I'm just saying that the setting is more often Metropolis than Smallville. It's been slowly changing over, similarly to how Clark and Lex's friendship is/has fallen apart. We'll know Clark's ready to be Superman when he spends practically all of his time in Metropolis.

Has there ever been a tv show that changed its name after 5 seasons before? Maybe but Im thinking if it jumped networks..well then again next fall its on the cw.

Rename the show Metropolis, there's no stopping Clark really from returning to Smallville and visiting his mom on the farm, just like he would if he's visiting Chloe. I mean really the guy's in Honduras in only a matter of seconds.

It would also allow them to do a few more things related to Superman, and would possibly even allow the transition into "the suit". This could also easily be achieved, because when the show hits the new network it'll be on the tail end of the Superman movie.

I think Clark and his mom may be holding on to the farm out of sentimental reason bc honestly they should probably consider selling it and moving to MEtropolis. Maybe they'll bring that up next year because the issue seems like it would come up.

Well the writers and Al & Miles both said this season is the beginning of "Superman in Training" and would take place much more in Metropolis.

But I think Smallville will always be the heart of the show.

I don't think it will become Metropolis. I think TPTB basically said when the story gets to that point he'll be Superman and Smallville will be over.
