Mionel?, Any Chance?

After watching this episode [after it airs] do u think there is any chance of Martha & Lionel?

Martha's a smart woman. Dating Lionel is as dangerous as playing tonsil-hockey with a crocodile. ESPECIALLY after Lionel looked at the DVD that Martha gave him IN CONFIDENCE that she wouldn't read it, finding out Clark's secret.

I think they'll just come dangerously close to being in a deeper, more intimate relationship, and then something will happen. Like.. Lionel will die(Pllleeeease say it won't happen! :( ), or Clark will just somehow convince Martha-poo away from the idea of it.

Same here. She said it herself there is no chance of it becoming romantic, just friends. Its going to be good to see those 2 on screen together. From what I've read in interviews they really enjoy playing off of each other. So it should be good.

Martha strikes me as the type that would stick to her guns when she made a decision about something... and with JK only recently deceased, I don't see any chance of a romantic attachment to Lionel. I enjoy watching them on-screen, but anything more than what's going on now is just plain creepy.

Seriously, who could resist Lionel? He is the PIMP of Smallville. He gets what he goes after and nothing stops him. If he wants Martha, all he has to do is snap his fingers and she'll be there. The only one standing in his way is Clark. Really, though, Lionel is THE man!

I have to say that I am not a big fan of the Mionel pairing. It just seems wrong to me. I was a big fan of Jk's character, so maybe it is just out of loyalty to the character that I don't want it to happen. But all I know is that it feels wrong to me. But Lionel is the pimp of Smallville, so Martha will cave eventually. Whenever you hear one character tell the other that there could never be anything between them, there always is. Hence Lexana.

I feel the same. Even though I don't see them romantically together. I always felt Lionel cared about Martha, and it really showed in this episode. It was first apparent in S2 Insurgence and how he treated her thereafter. The fondness Lionel has for Martha I believe has led him to keep Clark's secret (along with perhaps some goading from Jor-El!). My opinion is that while Lionel, and in an essence Johnathan helped push Lex to the dark side, Martha can help bring Lionel to the good side withought getting into romance. Just my take! I thought it was sweet nonetheless.

Ugh, I hope this does not happen with Mionel... makes me physically sick as well. I was a JK fan, too, and the thought of Martha with anyone else.... *feeling physically ill*:(

Martha's too smart to be taken over by Lionel and his lies. No matter how much he says he has changed or all the other things he says, but the one thing the both are on the same page with is about Clark that is certain. Other then that there would be no chance for Lionel to EVER be anything more then friends with Martha.

And now with the VERY serious threat from Clark that door that would have perhaps been open is now shut and would never open again in my opinion.

I don't think that Lionel is evil anymore. Although he can be an ass. Had he not found out about Clark he would still be obsessing over finding out about the secrets of the universe, and wouldn't let anything get in his way. Now that he knows, he just wants to be a part of this amazing beings life. I also feel that he has respect for Martha and even JK for their having raised Clark into the man he is despite the difficulties it presented. Same with Lex. All the schemeing to find the truth and the fact that he knows no one trusts him with this huge obvious secret is partly what is feeding his decent into darkness. People who already have it all can't stand to have things out of their grasp(at least in most fiction). Could that be attributed to Lionel as well with Martha? Maybe, but I think he will settle for platonic as long as he can get companionship. I love Lionel, Too bad he is so dead when finally Lex snaps.

What if Lionel starts to use the secret as blackmail, starting with, "Martha, if you don't date me, I certainly hope nothing about your son's secret happens to, uh...slip out into public knowledge."

I doubt Lionel would do that, because I think he'd rather play the game and get Martha all by himself, but you never know.

Even though John Glover is doing a good job playing Lionel Luther and making him so creepy, I still feel that with Lionel's past history with the Kent family(episodes Lineage and Transference come to mind), it would be wrong for Martha to love this guy. To me, it would make it seem that Jonathan's death and everything he fought for in life, with regards to Clark's secret, would be meaningless. I hope future episodes don't confirm that. I believe Martha will find out by the end of the season that Lionel was with Jonathan just before he died.

If Martha actually fell for Lionel, she would be the dumbest character on the show. Lionel has been far worse than lex throughout the series and Martha shouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole. Plus, one of the reasons why I have liked Lionel's character is because he doesn't let a love for a woman interfere with what he wants done. This is why Lex is becoming more and more like a whimp as the episodes go on.

lionel body is being used bi jor el but when this happens after jor el has used him lionel must remeber everything that is why lionel cannot expose clark because it would be pointless 4 jor el 2 have used his body if lionel would be a threat to clark.thats how he knows clarks name and that why he knows clark destiny.
I don,t think he meant give jonathan a heart attack in the barn but he wanted 2 explain he knew clark secert and that it was ok but jonathan could not handle it and took it personel not knowing that jor el is possesing lionel to help clark.
Also he knows about fortress of solitude and how the crystal formed clarks fortress.
this was a truly good episode it had 2 be since the last 2 or 3 episodes were really bad accept 4 the 1 with the brianiac in it.
i could go on 4 longer but i want until i get some feed back!
