Are Mattie's powers stronger that her father's? That seems a bit off.

You beat me to it. Earlier she said that she couldn't control her powers when she gets upset, and she seemed kind of surprised when her father was able to put the butterfly back together. Now she is able to turn the glass on ther father? It's SV, so it's not too big of a surprise I guess.

Or maybe it's like a Dragonball-esque sort of deal where the progeny is more powerful than the sire... only Maddie isn't half-alien?

i have no clue what you just said But I thought that was strange too you would think the older you are the more powerful. Oh well

Maybe because she thought that she was protecting Clark that she upped her powers. Kinda like when a mother has extra strength to push a car off their kid or something like that.

she's a second generation meteor freak...think of it as being a jedi. if a jedi has a child they come out more powerful than their parents hahaha

That bugged me! I don't think she should or could be more powerful than dear old dad. Meteor freaks are well freaks because of radiation or mutation and that in theory shouldn't become more powerful in the "next generation" should it?
I guess he could have been holding off as to not hurt her but then wouldn't he have moved the glass like to the side or something for self preservation?

Its got nothing to do with being more powerful, its got to do with control. She wasnt able to control her powers early on but at the end, she learned to control them. She was shattering glass in the beginning but wasnt able to control it like her Father. In the end, she learned how to control it and thats how she was able to take the glass her father had and put it back on him. Once that happened, I highly doubt her Father wanted to hurt her(like someone already said).

Its just like any of Clark's powers. He has to learn how to control them and then hes fine. That's what Mattie did.

I agree that control is important but so is power. Remember that Mattie's father can control the glass too, and she took that control when she turned the glass against him. The power part comes into play when he wasn't able the wrest control of the glass back from his daughter. If they both have the control then it comes down to who is more powerful. If he had control then he should be able to move the glass away from himself and not hurt Mattie. That didn't happen so it seems to me that she was more powerful.

I really like the idea that second generation meteor freaks are more powerful than their parents. And apparently not as sociopathic. That could make for some interesting stories -- if TPTB decided not to let the idea go down the memory hole.

I know... I explained that.. its his daughter.. he doesnt want to hurt her. besides that, at the first hint of movement all she had to to was send the glass spears forward. They were too close to his head for him to have enough time to move them away.

But besides that, its a little girl, and that was the whole point of killing the people he killed. Yeah, he was a murderer, but he's not a bad father. He doesnt want to hurt his little girl, which is why he didnt fight back.
