I was immediately bothered by the whole pulling diamonds out of the stained glass thing. Diamonds aren't glass! Diamonds are highly concentrated carbon, with only traces of nitrogen and boron. Glass is usually a mixture of silica and a variety of oxides.

That bugged me too.

Maybe it's the control of semi-transparent and transparent stuff

Earlier in the ep, it was specifically stated that he has the power to control glass. The controlling of the diamonds thing bugged me also.

See, I don't know...they specified glass...and so it bothered me, too.

Me as well. The only explanation that I had was that maybe he made the glass they were imbedded in explode behind the diamonds which shot them out?

It looked like he had control over the diamonds though, but what you said could make sense.

Yeah, that's the only near-reasonable explanation, and even then, the diamonds were really floating too slowly in the air and too directly to his hand.

yea if he can control diamonds then HOW THE HELL did he get cought robbing the jewelrey store to begin with?! Just stand outside in an alley and will them to you. There would be no evidence and no connection to the crime.

i think he chipped away the glass around the diamond which is totally possible.

I was bothered by that too.
Maybe he coated the diamonds in glass, seeing as he can manipulate the glass.

It looked like the glass around the diamonds was also moving so I think to be specific he used the small amount of glass to move the diamonds. But again, there is no point reading into everything because it may be something assumed by the writers.
Each diamond had a piece of glass under it enabling it to seem as if he was controlling the diamond.
Damn I'm good.

Alas though, if you just break away the glass surrounding the diamonds, the diamonds will just fall straight downward, not float nearly horizontally to his hand.
I like the idea that the diamonds themselves were coated in glass, though, since it's plausible that in finishing the piece he applied a layer of glass.

no it didn't. The glass just formed a very ugly circle around the floating diamonds.

or, Oh think of this, the most plausible explanation, tptb just prayed that we wouldn't notice that diamonds and glass are not one in the same. Or the jewler ripped him off.

This maybe a really stupid question but I really dont know....
Could there be something common with glass and diamonds to where the father could move them?
How about, that the powers of the father was so powerful that he was about to move diamonds as well? It has been twelve years and perhaps he has delevoped his powers, but then why didn't he stop his daughter?
I dont know I am just throwing it out there....

I think the best explanation is that when he snapped them off the stained glass a small bit of glass was still attached to the diamond itself so he was able to move them.

Chemically speaking, there is next to nothing common between diamonds and glass. Diamonds have more in common with graphite (the stuff in pencils that you write with) than with glass, really. The only real commonality is that diamonds are clear, and so is glass in some of its forms. But if clear stuff is the link, it begs the question why Maddie and her dad couldn't also move clear plastic, and also leads me to wonder what would happen if I dumped paint over a sheet of glass. In any event, the most plausible answer seems to be something involving residual glass on the diamonds. Either that, or as somebody mentioned, the jeweler was really a con artist peddling glass diamonds.
