We can't forget he is also directing it.
YES! YES! YES!
I noticed it instantly--guess he was multitasking with directing and all, and his acting seems to be suffering. It's worse in certain scenes.

I think his acting is just fine.

Yeah.. It seemed to be a bit different than normal, not up to his usual standard.

I think its fine. But this ep isnt really testing anyone's acting chops.

I think it's just the fact he's with a kid. He always acts different around kids. -shrugs-
Actually, I think he's good in the scenes with the kid. I thought he was off in the scenes with ED and AOT.

The writing is just Magnetic or Velocity level.

Velocity is underrated. It shouldnt be grouped with Magnetic and this ep.

Magnetic was awful. Is that where Lana was being mind-raped?
Clark's acting was OK, he just seemed too "nice."

I didn't really notice too much of a difference in Tom's acting, but I do think he did a good job directing. I can't really tell a difference between the directing in this ep and most of the others.
And I didn't really like velocity because I am a motorhead and the racing scenes were dumb and reminded me too much of FATF which was pretty dumb now that I am older.

Yep he had parts where his acting failed, but the acting of the girl's dad was just awful!! Well he directed a crap episode, I don't think I've ever been this nonchalant after an episode. It could have had a little more "thwang" to it!

I think that his acting was good, I think that maybe b/c we r used to seeing him acting all distraught and in angst ridden scenes we may correlate that and tonights episode which showed the reg. Clark back in Season 1 n 2 w/o the drama with bad acting. I think that his role changed bc of who he was dealing with, he was with a young gurl so we got to see the warmer side that we all know n love. This episode reminds me of how good of a guy Clark is, he is such a sweetie. : )

I thought his acting was great in this episode. He seemed more free but that may be because he didn't have any contact with Lana.

I thought he did great...especially in the scenes with Maddie

I liked his acting in this episode. He was wonderful with Maddie, and he adopted a much more mature demeanor throughout the episode that, IMO, he wears really well. He was very Superman-ly.

Tom's acting in this episode was just like any other EXTRAORDINARY, he also worked beautifully with maddie. =]

I thought Tom was abnormally static and flat. Though, not in his scenes with Maddie. The rest, however, were really... vacant.

I think he was FANTASTIC! So marvelously Superman. In fact, I think this was one of his finest acting jobs. You could feel his affection for the kid, and you could feel the goodness shining from him. It's like when Lionel is REALLY evil, you can feel the evilness from him, and Tom Welling made it so that you could feel the goodness, the Superman, inside him. Good job, Tom, and great directing.

Agreed.
Magnetic sucked.
Velocity may not have had the greatest story, but it served its purpose in starting a rift between Pete and Clark which is what the show needed. Pete and Clark hadnt had a major fight and this showed Pete just how hard it is NOT to take advantage of Clark, knowing what he can do)
I think the street racing was lame as hell and it came out of no where, but the episode overall had a great character arch for both pete and Clark and it also Got Lex looking more into Clark.
If they wouldve built the street racing up in earlier episodes, it wouldve been better. They shouldve allowed Pete to bring up the street racing and maybe even shown his interest in cars (you know, show him working on them, let him help clark out with tractors, etc) and then it wouldve seemed more natural. But to me, the street racing came from left field.
This episode was just boring. Magnetic was retarted. Velocity wasn't either one.
Ok, Tom's acting. I don't think it was bad, but it was a little different. But I think thats just because he had a lot of work to do and he might've not had enough time to run lines with others like Allison Anette, and Erica.
To me though, he seemed more confidence, character wise, not acting wise. Clark seemed to be a lot more adult in this episde, more wise if you will. He was able to get Mattie to talk. He seemed a lot more Superman like in this episode than he has in others. I liked that.
