Ch.5
(Drake's POV)
Later after lunch me and Shelly walked back toward the classrooms. Just then I heard footsteps and I saw Jacob he really wasn't acting like himself. Even thought he was trying not to show it he looked a bit depressed and when he saw me and Shelly together he smiled and walked away.

I took a breath and walked to him slowly not caring what if this was a good idea just yet or not.

"Hey Jacob wait up."

"He turned sharply. "What is it man?"

"I got something to tell you..."

(Evan's POV)
As the limo neared the school I looked out at the buildings and I remembered going to school here those were the days.
Just then my cell phone rang. It was Allen.

"Hello?" I asked softly.

"Hello dad it's me." I heard my son say.

"Allen my boy how are you?"

"Good dad,I decided to do some charity as well I sold some of my artwork to a museum or two. Also I'll be coming for a visit in a few days I hope you'll be there to see me home."

"Of course son,I promise,what kind of father would miss their prodigal son's return."

"Good one dad." Allen said sarcastically.

"Sorry son,I have to go,almost time for my return to Millten High for a school assembly."

"Alright dad,well see you in a few days,and one thing I can say I'm glad I'm going back somplace warm."

"Yes son,New York can do that to you. Well goodbye for now son." I said enthusiastically.

I placed the phone in my pocket. Allen was coming home,interesting. Just then the limo came to a hault. And I got out of the limo,it was time for me to go back to school. I thought smiling.

(Rachel's POV)
Zack is so...I can't even find the word. As I walked down the hall I was still thinking about him. He was so sweet,and not a bad football player from some of his game highlights that were on before lunch on the announcements.

But strangely I didn't see him at lunch as I was beginning to think he forgot about sitting at lunch with me. But suddenly I heard someone behind me. I turned and saw Zack.

"Hey Rachel,what's up?"

"Oh...nothing,I kind of thought you forgot aobut me."

"No not you." Zack said sarcastically.

"Thanks." I said making a comeback.

And then we chatted and sat down to eat. I smiled as I talked with Zack,things were finally going my way for once.

Chapter 6

(Becca's POV)

I continued to stare blankly at the ceiling, it's an old habit. Since I can recall when I was confused or I was trying to understand something complicated, I would spend hours looking intensely at the ceiling until I found the answers that I was seeking. Right now I feel lost and confused, I'm like a traveler that has lost his path in the dark and although I search for a star that guides me back home, I can only find a stormy black sky. I hear mom walking down the hall when she reaches my room I can hear her steps faltering, but finally she opens the door and steps in.

"Becca, you should go to sleep, it's late and you have classes tomorrow." Her voice is soft and even, but it sounds tired and despondent.

Dad's death is taking a toll on her, but she is trying to be strong for my sake. She cries herself to sleep every night, her heartbreaking sobs floating in the stillness of the night like an spectre. She doesn't share her pain with me, she doesn't let me get close enough to help her. It's like she built a brick wall between us and she doesn't let me in. When Dad died, he took my caring mother with him, leaving this polite replica in her place. Sometimes I'm sure that I lost both of them that day. I feel a small spark of rage raising inside me and I squash it ruthlessly.

"I know that you're sad and angry, because he isn't here now," She muttered in a strangled whisper."but you have to hang out with your friends again, do something positive, you can't lay down on the floor all day just looking at the ceiling, you have to move on honey."

Then she left the room. I got up and I went towards the window, I opened it and I jumped out. Suddenly I feel a suffocating heat running through my veins and the need to run was overwhelming. When I stopped running I realized that I was near the cemetery, so I decided to visit my dad's tomb. While I walked I began to think about Drake, a little smile drew itself upon my face and I feel warmer. I always feel better when he's around. I have had this huge crush on him since forever, but he is dating Shelly now. My smile fell a little. I should feel happy for him, because Shelly is such a great girl and I would like to be her friend too.

"Hey dad," a soft sigh escaped my lips."I'm not feeling good lately, but I know that I have to quit mopping around and feeling sorry for myself. When you were alive, I used to think that I knew who I was and what I wanted to do with my life, but when you died everything went to hell. Mom is right about something, I have to live again. I don't want to be a broken doll, so I will fight back, I will find myself and my new path. You taught me to never give up. I will make you proud."

It was time to head back home, so I turned around but something stopped me. Suddenly I could feel his presence around me as if he was here at my side, giving me his strength and support. I closed my eyes and I told him.

"I swear to you that I will find a way to be stronger and then I will dedicate my life to those who need help."

A soft breeze caressed my hair and I couldn't help but smile. The heavy burden that I used to carry was lifted from my shoulders. With a new spring in my step and a new resolution I head towards the future.

Oh my gosh! Carla that's beautiful! You wrote how she was feeling and you just really got into the character! I can't beleive how descriptive that was! Congrats JD, you made a good choice by adding Carla to the Shadow writing force:D

Chapter 7

(Allen Reeves' POV)

We human beings are paradoxical creatures. We move around, fooling ourselves believing that we know exactly what we want. But we're lost like children that wander in a carnival, looking for their parents. Take my personal assistant for example; she is always complaining about the dreary and busy atmosphere that covers New York city, but now she is missing it. We always covet what we don't have, weakness. I can feel a sneer drawing itself upon my face. My father always takes advantage of all kind of weakness, looking for ways to get them and exploit them until they are dry and soulless. He studies human behavior with the same regard that he uses on his lab rats. Means to an end.

When I was younger I used to feel sullen and depressed, he was a great scientist but as a father he was loathsome. I'm certain that he only kept me around, because I was the only beneficiary of my mother's inheritance, he was waiting to plunge his claws into my money. Nowadays as successful businessman he is pleased with me, because I can increase the family funds. He doesn't see me as a threat, just as profit. I can't feel anymore, the conflicting feelings that used to drown me in sorrow. I just feel oddly numb. There is only one thing that can make me feel anything at all, Art.

Art is pure and perfect, in my opinion the unique sublime expression of greatness created by humankind. My fauvored painting is Cronos devorando a sus hijos de Goya ( Cronus devouring his children by Goya). Cronus was a Titan and the myth said that he used to rule us, but it was fated that he would be overthrown by one of his own children, so to prevent this from happening he began to devour his offsprings. I think that it's an accurate allegory of our little family, if my father would suspect that I could overthrow him, he would swallow me whole too.

"I think that it's time to pay a visit to daddy dearest."

I took my cell phone from my pocket and I hit the speed dial, at the third ring my assistant answered.

"Dominique Lavelle speaking." Her voice sounded smooth and self-assured.
"I need the car ready in 5 minutes. We're going to Millten High."
"But Sir," she stuttered. " Millten High?" She asked puzzled.
"Miss Lavelle time is ticking."

Without waiting for her answer I hung up. It could be interesting to discover what the glorified Evan Reeve was looking for in a High School.

(Dominique's POV)

A suffering sigh escaped my lips, he could be a real mystery sometimes. Millten High? Weird.

I called the chauffeur and I told him to be in the front door asap, Mr. Reeve Junior was always on time. Quickly, almost running I went towards the front door, when I was near I slowed down and straightened my business suit.

"My favorite Ice Lady has arrived. Man, aren't I lucky?" Ross's sardonic comment reached my ears.
"Can it Ross. I'm not in the mood." I uttered while I graced him with a stern and chilly look.

He was opening his mouth to speak again, but I raised my hand to stop him.

"I don't want to hear an obscene comment either. You better shut up or else." I told him looking at "his" car meaningfully.

He just grumbled moodily, but kept his witty jokes to himself. Suddenly Allen Reeve appeared in the doorway and Ross hurried to open the car door for him.

"We're going to Millten High Ross."
"Millten High?" Astonishment coloring his voice.
"There is a strange echo repeating my words today, how amusing." His tone of voice was light and slightly amused.

While we sit in the back seat, I can't help but notice that his chiseled features are devoid of expression, although I can see a glint of humor in his clear blue eyes. He is just 22 years old, but he is a successful businessman decked in an Armani suit. He's so distant and cynic sometimes, but he's a fair boss. His even voice took me out of my musings.

"We're going to that High School, because my father is going to give a lecture there. I would like to know what the old man is up to."

I don't voice my thoughts, but I hope that he knows what he is doing this time. Evan Reeve is a dangerous man, you never know when he's going to strike.

(Drake's POV)
I finished telling Jacob easily enough plus having Shelly there made it easier.

Jacob turned to me after pondering about what I'd told him.

"So you really have powers huh. But don't worry about it I'll keep your secret. I mean it has been hard seeing you guys so close,I just didn't wanna screw it up. Plus I knew you guys might've known something that I didn't but now I know."

'No prob buddy,we're the three amigos,we stick together."

Jacob then noticed something.


"Dude we better get to your dad's class before the bell."

"Right." I said following him and Shelly was with us too. Things were finally close to normal.

(Phillip's POV)
I waited still it was almost time just a few more minutes and Reeve would arrive. I smiled soon he'd feel the pain I felt mentally. Feel waht it's like to lose everything. I'd get him. Suddenly I heard something I moved to another spot,a guard to scope things out this gives me an idea. I thought darkly. I leapt at the man and blasted his face and he breathed in the toxin. I then stuffed one of his socks in his mouth as he sputtered for breath.

Then I toook his uniform and put it on,being undercover would help,just then I heard someone say something about Reeve's son.

How interesting. I thought. I now had the perfect hostage.
