View Full Version : Why didn't Lana's parents tell her Clark was an alien?

Or at least "special" or "different"?

I mean, JK told Clark that Lionel knew his secret and Lex's mom warned him that if he didn't change his life around, he would end up killing LOTS of people.

I know its just a show and they have a plan in place of when, where, and how Lana will find out what Clark really is, but had that stuff really happened, her parents would have told her about Clark and warned her about Lex. I mean, if they really loved and cared for her, that's what they would have done... right??

JMHO.

because that would have been an awful way for her to find out.

can you imagine what you would tell someone who hasnt watched the show in a couple seasons (like a lot of people)?

"how did lana find out?"
"from her dead parents."

I dunno I would think telling Lana she hurting herself and others and she show move on (this is the what they want for her) would come before telling her Clark is a alien. AND they did even tell her that! They just stodd there with a stupid smile on their faces.

Besides all that they like the other parents know the hero Clark will become so don't to mess that up; besides it's not really there place too tell her.

I would think warnning Lana about Lex would come before "he's alien" anyway

Ok, so that probly would have been a stupid time and place for her to find out about Clark, but definitely not in first telling her to stop the stupid near-death experiences and then that she should not get involved with anything more than "mere acquaintances" with Lex.

Another thing they should have told her is; "We are deceased, Lana, and have been for the past 18+ years. And no matter how often you visit & talk to our graves and cry yourself to sleep about it at night, we can't come back. Please move on with your life and accept the things (our death) that you can not change. And remember, we will always love you."

The writers could have come up with a lot more elegant way of putting that, but that would have been a great scene for the Lang's last, together in the "beyond", before Lana was killed/revived the last time.

Because it wasn't Lana's parents' place to tell Clark's secret; simply put.

i think another reason was that there wasnt really time. she hadnt seen them before during the other times she had taken the serum. b/c she said "i almost found them" or something like that. also, she was begging for two minutes. i dont think she ever got that, and they spent a while just hugging and saying how much they loved eachother, so there really wasnt much time for serious conversations.

I think Lana's parents' priorities should have gone like this:telling Lana to move on and stop endangering herself, warn her about Lex,tell her Clark lied about not loving her to"protect" her(good job, idiot),and THEN, IF THERE WAS STILL TIME,by the way ,your ex is an alien, goodbye.Instead, they just stand there and act stupid.Great parents Lana has, huh?

Haha good one Supercode. I agree. And I don't buy the "It wasn't their place to tell her." bit. I mean if my kid was dating a drug dealer or something you better believe it would be my place to tell them they are.

I just decided to put this SNAFU with all the others from this show into a little area in my head called "Smallville Bloopers."

Edit: That drug dealer comment I made isn't exactly fair. That's not the same thing. So I'll say that if my kid was dating an alien, I'd still tell!

Lana kind of got the shaft on the parents deal. I mean it seemed that she barely got any time with them at all (hence the reason for her becoming a serum junkie) and Clark went one time and had his long conversation with his father...Oh well, such is life I suppose

How old was Lana again when they died? The first mereor shower happened in '89..right?!? So, what are we talking 13 yrs?!? I only say that, because the show went to present day shortly after the meteor shower scenes. Now, there 18 yrs old...and in the first year of Metropolis U.

Clark and Lex both had quite a bit of convo between there loved ones when they were "Flatline" <by means of that nince green cocktail in the syringe> , same goes for in life...they were at a much mature age than Lana. She was kid...all she really remembers is being happy and waving that magic wand which has miraculous effects on real life in the year of 1989. Lol...come on guys...i'm only 1/2 serious.

I could be wrong...just my opinion...thanks for reading.

All the parents focused on only dealing with their children and that person's needs. Lana seeking the parents and finding her parents wanting to talk about Lex or Clark would be an insult, like she wasn't important enough to them, so it was handled correctly. Lana simply didn't have the time she needed and Lex and Clark did.

Okay, really dumb question here but I have to ask...

How do Lana's parents know about Clark's secret? Did they find out after they died (maybe talking to Clark's biological parents or Jonathon Kent or someone else) or did they know before they died?

They are giving us the indication using Jonathan that when you die you know the future.
