Well, I just wanted to say that this episode was GENIOUS!

The plot, the effects, it was so great...

For me it's one of the best episodes ever! It wasn't about Clark only, but about everybody! SOOOO GREAT!

I'm afraid I have to disagree. Although I've always thought Lana was semi psychotic in her obsession with the dead parents this ep took it so far that it seemed out of character even for Lana. That Lana would agree to take drugs of any kind just to die and see her parents was ridiculous and an absurd plot. Even I never saw her as that nutso.

And for her to tell Clark she felt alone even when she was with him? Well maybe although that would just show her as the same Manipulative control freak I pegged her as; make sure you tell Clark he couldn't make her happy anyway. That was just obnoxious. It said if I'm not the center of attention and you won't tell me your secrets then I'm not happy when I'm with you.

This ep made Lana completely pathetic. It was a new low in both plot and characterization for her.

There were scenes in this episode that reminded me of Smallville in its glory days (which, IMO, was Season 2 through 3).

The scenes with Lex and Lillian, and how that mirror'd Jonathan and Clark, were just so well-written. It reminded me of Hourglass, Memoria, Lineage, etc. I even liked the 8:50pm Clana. I never like those scenes, but this time around it felt mature, grown-up, and genuine. The absence of the teen music was a plus.

Having said that, the main plot was the movie Flatliners. They did it well, but we've seen it before. Just like Tomb was 'A Stir of Echos.' I would like to see something more original, and less dependent on already-produced movie plots.

Like the rest of this season so far, when it's good, it's awesome! When it misses, it really misses.

Judging by how Clark has never opened up to Lana, even when they were together, it's no surprise for her to feel she was alone, even with the Farm Boy.

Going back for "one more taste" of the drug to see her parents isn't too far fetched, but it's the first dose that should have been shown. That's where I have a problem, that good little Miss Pink would ultimately agree to be drugged with something that actually kills her.

The sfx were pretty cool, I liked the return to the living world, seeing the lost ones rush into the abyss.

Problematic....how was Clark dosed? You could argue that even small drops of the K serum in the needle were enough to puncture his skin, but otherwise the serum didn't flow until after the skin is pierced, and the normal needle on its own never would have pierced the Dolt of Steel.

The ep was OK, too little ultimate plot advances, only a smattering. TOO MANY COMMERICALS as usual (I was taping and then pausing during breaks; my timer showed 40 minutes at the end, and take off the opening credits and you get about 38 minutes of show...no wonder the plot line drags along).

I liked the Clana scene at the end also. That was done well.

But I'm also one who thought, Lana went a little extreme out of her character. And while it was a surprise to hear she's always been alone, it also doesn't make sense. Lana is the one that everyone wants to be her friend and boyfriend.

Every time she disses Clark, she finds someone new (Adam Knight, Jason Teague), so I dont know if a constantly lonely person would feel that outgoing to get all that attention.

On the other hand, that also could explain why she is constantly wanting someone to try and fill some void.

I have to admit, i liked that in this episode they further reminded us all why clark never wanted to tell her his secret in the first place...the writers cause us all to forget that it was originally because clark felt responsible for her parents death...not because she'd be afraid of him being an alien or hurting her while having....well ya get the point
