Lionel had that look that said, "I understand, Martha, but no matter what you say, I'm going to get you in the end." I wonder if he will? That was a good scene. I was surprised at Martha's forth-comingness (not sure if that's a word) and her upfront honesty to Lionel.

Absolutely! But it was needed. Especially for us, the audience, who would never forgive her if she just swept her memory of Jonathan aside. Yes, she's in pain, and throwing herself into work--and I buy Lionel's friendship with her. She did work for the MB and his motives appear genuine. But none of us want to see a "Mionel."

Yea it was nice to see Lionel shut down but he won't give up at all... and I think a small portion of Martha might know...

Until Clark actually tells his mother that Lionel knows his secret... Martha might have a change of heart... but only slightly... and regardless of the nature, Lionel won't give up on Martha he respects her too much... or maybe respect isn't the word to use here... Lionel is just manipulative to really know what he truely wants.
