They are focusing on Addiction as a theme in this episode. I have a family member addicted so I have a personal sorrow watching it. I hope the writers that be can understand that there is still sick and suffering out in our world, and write their plot accordingly.

**Edit**
I loved this episode. Please forgive me writers for my complaints last week. Sincerely, I loved this episode.

I bet they will. They know teens watch this show.

This addiction is merely a tool to push the plot along. There won't be any disclaimers or PSAs at the end, I bet. People are more concerned with sex on TV than with drug abuse.

Well, Lana is sure acting like an addict. Even Lex recognized that.

This "addiction" is truly disturbing. And I know the same is true in real life; I'm just not used to seeing this kind of thing in Smallville.

Its an interesting parallel to real life, your boyfriend breaks your heart and you need relief. It happens all the time. You can relate it to anything not just drugs.

It is a bit much for me too. A lot of reasons why people turn to drugs is because a parent or a spouse is not there.
by an emptyness that you cannot fill .

This is good writing, and unsettleing to watch at the same time.

technically, i guess they didnt have to come out with the Dont Do Drugs PSA because they said, "these aren't drugs"

of course, everything lana did to achieve more of it, certainly reminded everyone of drugs.

it was really intense. but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. it didn't offend me or anything (especially since im a teen)

I think that they worked into the plot the whole "Don't do drugs" theme, by her regreting her decision, and saying she'd never do anything like that again...
