I was just watching "Solitude" and realized one thing. Obviously, Brainiac was the one that brought the plague on Martha Kent in that particular ep. Could the "samples" have something to do with that?

I don't think that using infected blood samples is what he's using to clone himself- that makes no sense.
A few people have said that the ship contains Brainiac's core program which can be used to produce more copies.
So no ship= no Brainiac.

I agree with this, but what has the virus that Lex supposedly cooks up got to do with releasing General Zod?

I agree with CMM, whatever Fine is doing it has to be linked with ZOD. He nearly released him in Solitude but failed. However I think he has something even bigger planned now!!!

my far-fetched theory is that, from a spoiler for "Oracle" and "Vessel", he is using the people in Honduras as his test subjects for his virus to turn Earth into New Krypton. I never read the comics and this the first time for me to hear about Brainaic, but I remember something about him wanting to recreate Krypton. So in the preview for "Oracle" when we see Fine stabbing Lex with something, Fine could be injecting Lex with a prototype virus. I don't know. But if you go read the spoilers for the last two episodes for the season, my theory could make sense.

If you read the spoilers it's kinda obvious - there are no guests for the two characters Jor-el and Zod, so if Lionel will become Jor-el then guess who becomes Zod with the help of toxic blood and Fine! ;)
