ahh I'd like to thank the WB for all of the advertising they did to remind us of Smallville's return. I watch the WB all the time and I didn't see a single ad/commercial about this episode. So of course I missed it..................
I dunno maybe I just had my eyes closed durring all of the promotion they did?

If you did, so did I.
Luckily for me my daughter had it marked on our calander that it was back on tonight. (Sorry you missed it :( )
Actually last night before I went to bed we had on Everybody Loves Raymond and I saw an ad/commercial for tonights episode. But that was the only one I saw. :\

I don't remember seeing that much promotion for it either. You would think since "Smallville/Supernatural Thurs." Is suspose to be their big gun for CW, they'd pimp the heck out of it!
Uck. If I have to see one more "Pepper Denise" ad, I am going to hurt someone. "Relative" or whatever that show is called - the one with the three sisters who aren't witches, usually gets alot more attention than Smallville as well, but I don't remember seeing many ads for that one this week either.

Smallville and Supernatural don't need that much promotion. People watch them anyway.

ya the commercials never seem to air for smallville except the day its on and the day after the previous episode. if they had more then ratings would have gone up and they should have done more of the brainiac commercial. i mean come on i barely see smallville commercails but the last 2 weeks i have seen a billion comercials for everwood. smallville needs more support cause it is the most popular show on the WB.

I'd like to thank them for continuing to make awful episodes such as this one. Proof that they don't have a clue what their doing.

Uh, you always need promotion. No marketing no show ;). Many shows have died because of crappy marketing. Better the promotion most likely better the turn out(i.e. "Rosetta" and "Crusade").

Don't you just love the new WB executives (scarscasm). Seriously, there is a reason it's had to merge. They have been losing money since 2001 .

Oh god I know! I refuse to watch that god awful show, why do they even bother? Its never gonna make the merge. LOL, I thought the show was on already because the promos were different, like different themes for different eps..and nope, last promo mentioned its show "premeire" date. Whatever. The WB should spend its cash on the shows that are returning like Smallville and Supernatural - make sure the fan base is real loyal and will follow it to a different channel. These are the same idoits that canceled Angel after its best season ever, so I guess they aren't really that bright.

I guess the big question is how much you watch the WB because I saw quite a bit of promotion for the return of Smallville. As for "Related" there is no promotion for it because it already had its season finale--there are no new episodes and it is not likely to be returning in the fall. It was not a bad show but was put up against some stiff competition.
We get a nice TV listings guide in the Washington Post that shows everything that's coming on day by day for the week. If an episode is new it has an (N) listed next to it. I check it on Sundays to see which of the shows I like are new episodes. It is a much easier format than TV Guide.

I would like to thank them for finally getting rid of the clana, it was getting very old.
on the thread where you post your thoughts on the episode, i did.....unbiased cause i read no spoilers or people's opinion or anything.....i only know Brainiac was in it cos i noticed a huge banner with exclusive shots of him in the new smallville on the site's home page while i was clicking on forums(shouldn't news like that be somewhere else? no matter anyway)
anyway, how is smallville advertised over there in the U.S? and who is it supposed to appeal to? i know here in the U.K it is aired at 9pm and is aimed at 15+ (im guessin) but what about over there? cos of recent surges of nudish scenes and blood, im guessin sometime after 8pm?
sayin that, this series should appeal to more mature audiences right?
i think i read in that episode review thread about someone saying he doesn't expect good writing from this series.....that got me thinkin, from when i started watchin smallville, i hardly watched any program regularly...comedies and stuff but no drama...and only since probably last year ive started watching other drama series' and have noticed how much better the script/flow of the episode/"surprise" factor/plots...etc are.
its always gonna be hard creating a prequel to a well known story....and especially when there are "expectations" with something like superman brings compared to starting a totally new series with no expectations, but everyone making it knew that already, and knew people would want the best for a show about their favourite super -hero........
ill always love smallville because it's another version of a story about my favourite super-hero.....but i think the fans deserved a little better.
Even if it meant cutting it down to 3-4 seasons....alot of the problems would be solved (repeating plots, filler episodes etc.) but all-in-all they could have done a lot worse....and apart from the clark and lana drama, i think season 5 is my 3rd favourite season.......its a shame when you think of how they have proved how good this show can be, but at the same time try to feed u bs at times which i put down to laziness or pressure from more important people :D
oh yeah and i dont think that when people say they were expecting something great from this latest episode they should just because it was after a long gap.
someone in the uk or africa or who knows where will watch the season more or less all in one go....an episode is an episode.

I know, there was not much at all! Supernatural had more than Smallville did...
