Personally, Star Wars Knights of the Old republic (1) is my favorite X-Box game of all time. I love the story line and all the characters. KOTOR 2 isn't bad, but I thought it had some plotholes.
Which is your favorite? Anyone know when a thrid is coming out?

I have no idea when the 3rd is coming out
Kotor was the best rpg I have ever played. The 2nd was a bit of a letdown.

I'll go with the consensus here.. KOTOR2 is fun, but buggy(and I've never finished it because of that) and KOTOR might be the best XBox game period.

KOTOR 1 was incredible. Star Wars games notoriously suck like jenna jameson on the set. KOTOR however was just a big surprise because not only was it an unexpectedly great Star Wars game, but was the best game that came out in 2003 by far! It won multiple awards for best game, turned the idea around about star wars games (though star wars galaxies turned it right back around), and to top it of had a great storyline. The Revan story is something I can see being made into a movie. The twists, the set up with Bastila (or carth, though I perfer Bastilia), and the epic feeling of the game really sold the idea of the KOTOR series for me.
Part two storywise was good too. Not as intersting overall as part one but the epic storyline and great gameplay was still there. The upgrades to the moves, abilities and other RPG aspects were a big plus. The big downside to it was that there were mad bugs in the game and the visual design was not to par for what we came to expect from KOTOR 1. The Idea of Revan's master Kreia and how she plays apart in the unfolding of the entire galaxy was genius. Minus the few small set backs it's still a solid game.
Neither Obdsidan nor Bioware have announced they are producing the game this time around. There have been a lot of net rumors that both are developing a 3rd instalment but nothing has been officially confirmed. It is most likely that the series will continue for two big reasons. One, they were obviously planning on doing another sequel by the looks of the ending (which i will not spoil). 2, because the sales for KOTOR 2 were more then enough to secure production for a 3rd KOTOR.
This game series is a must to play.

Heck, I've beaten the game twice and have yet to finish it. The game just isn't finished. Which is a shame.
The first half of KOTOR2 is amazing, probably some of the best RPGINg you'll ever have. and then about halfway through the game just... stops. There is NO ending.
Which is the tragedy of Kotor2. If Obsidian had an extra 6 month it probably would have been the best rpg of all time. As it is, its difficult to reccommend. Hopefully the fan-patch that finishes the game makes it a worthwile game to play.
Btw, has anyone played Kotor1 with the extra unfinished 3rd ending?

I think that was to set up the 3rd installment. Traya speaks of "the real sith empire" and depending on how you choose you can go off into space to search for Revan and the upcoming war that "waits in the dark". It's anti-climatic but I believe it was left that way to set up for KOTOR 3

i loved how you could train and influence your party members in 2 however the overall gameplay and story was 10 x better in the first one.

I liked that aspect in 2 as well, but I loved Malak for some odd reason. He was a good enemy because of the paradox relationship to your character.

Kreia was one of the hardest bosses ever imo. It took me ages to beat her.

Most people forgot that if you have a good amount of life support or advanced medipacks when you reach the end (you should have at least 60 of each if not more depending on how you aquired and sold em) and that you can use at least one in the pause menu after every attack. It's the easy way to beat any boss, though kreia's 3 lightsabers was a b*tch to get past the first time around.

The way would get around the lightsabers was to run around the circle to lose them and then just fight one at a time and use the lfe support packs

didn't KOTOR 2 also seem somewhat like rehash?
imo, it did

It was similar in ways, but I did like the addition of Carth toward the end. That led to a what happen to Revan type deal.

Kotor 2 was always gonna be a disappointment because kotor was so good.
Kotor2 is still one of my favorite games though.

The first KOTOR was, but the 2nd was good except for 2 things.
#1 NO ENDING
#2 You went from doing awesome flips and Force moves with your saber to doing a little weird stab. That really bothered me
Bioware should have done KOTOR 2...what a shame :\

I loved the first KOTOR. Truely a great game. I'm currently playing through it again. I still haven't played KOTOR 2 but it sounds like it was a big let down to most people. Was thinking about buying it but maybe i should save my money?

Essentially it was since Obdisen Ent. was made up of the old Bioware crew who originally worked on KOTOR 1 and left to do start their own game production company. They actually had to licence the technology from their old company in order to make this game happen.

KOTOR 2 was good, but it wasn't as good as the first. There were cool features on the 2nd one (ie some of your crew could become Jedi as well with you influence)

yes for the 20 dollar price tag that is on it now, it's worth the money. just be aware that the ending sucks, but you will have fun getting there.

I have to say, there was one facet of the ending that I enjoyed..
When Kriea (spl?) told your character the futures of your companions, but some were too vague and some were not what I wanted to hear.
In case someone didn't play it yet.

Which ones were vauge? I can explain what most of them ment (even the alternate ones). For example most ppl didn't understand what Kreia ment when she talked about the fate of the Mandaloreans, but not many realize that a very famous Star Wars character from Attack Of The Clones is infact the last of the mandaloreans and it was him she was referring to when she sees the future.
If nothing else, I can't wait till KOTOR 3 comes out. I'm 99% sure thats when we will face the "true Sith".

I hope so...I've beaten KOTR 1 and 2, and KOTR was my favourite...truely one of the best games of 2003...or watever.
KOTR 2 has a really good story too...but the ending just...just...wasn't good...heck, it wouldn't even pass good...i was so dissapointed and i was like, "...That's it?"

KOTOR one...well I have to stay it stomps out Kotor 2 for me, anyways. I loved the first game and played it through plenty of times because I loved the story. The second game...not so much. I played through it once and was done. It had its good points but it couldn't beat the first game, IMO.

I love them both equally. I wish the third one would come out, too. :(
Storywise, I prefered the first KOTOR. But I found the action was more involved in KOTOR II.

I liked the no cap on level in the 2nd one, but the gameplay and the story were nothing compared to the first. The tale of Darth Revan is so amazing, George Lucas do I hear a prequel?

Kreia is the only final boss in the history of all video gaming that beat me.
And KOTOR 1 is far better than the second one. I've gotten both the endings on the first one.

You lost to Kreia? Kreia was too easy. I owned Kreia so badly it isn't even funny. I was so pissed. Is that really it. Malak on the other hand I thought the first time I played the game was hard. But that was also because I did not have master speed

KOTOR II mostly cuz I haven't played the first one, nor could I find it anywhere for PC (except online). And the second one kinda ruins the storyline anyway so... whatever doesn't matter, KOTOR II is easily the best RPG I've ever played.
