I know the music board here gets about as much attention as a buck-toothed hoooker, but I felt like I had to promote my absolute favorite band...
Blue October.
Their new album Foiled comes out next month, April 4th(assuming it doesn't get pushed back again... grr... I want it NOW), and the first single Hate Me has been a massive success for the guys, scoring #1 on Alternative Addiction, #6 on the Modernrock.com, #17 on the Radio & Records Alternative Chart, and #18 on Billboard's Modern Rock.
They're about to go back on the road, and I've got my tickets!
All I ask is that you go to http://myspace.com/blueoctober , give the songs there a listen, and if you like them, then I'd be more than happy to recommend other songs/album.
They're mid-tempo rock, although they have some heavier and some softer stuff, they make a heavy use of a power violin, which helps give their sound a really distinctive vibe, and the lead singer Justin Furstenfeld has such a unique powerful voice, and IMO, is the best songwriter you've probably never heard.
