Though it was all a bit cheesy (and late) to have the whole Family Man style story - with the added presence of x-mas and a magical “real” santa.

There was quite a lot of interesting stuff going on in this ep – I loved the beginning and to see Lex turn out to be a nice guy and the Kent’s all living the good life - it was all nice and dandy.

Though of course the most interesting part was the final decision of Lex – the last straw to finally reveal the true Lex Luthor that he’s sure to become – all to save his love Lana from a death that occurred only in a dream, showing his obsession to control even the things that are figments of his own imagination.

Sure it was all very cliché and the warm and fuzzy wholesome Americanism was sickening at times – overall it was a good though not greatest ep – but it was done well enough, and hit all the right notes were it counted.

Merry Lexmas everybody. Hey it must be a good sign that i'm feeling the holiday spirit....in March!? <thanks goldylocks>

This episode honestly made me yearn for christmas time again, with its numerous 'holiday special' touches. The obligatory drunken tramp who is actually Santa - hurrah! Sweet piece of super-action as Clark runs down the wall:D

I also have to say i felt the 'love in the room' as MR was actually allowed to be genuine, nice and smile properly without any shifty planning going on. I mentioned it in another thread but he has managed to get in some more Lexana, the lucky so and so. All the anti-Lana's out there must secretly have enjoyed her popping her clogs this ep???

Cool to see the alternate future versions of the characters, very comic book! A little let down that Clark didn't have his specs on....i thought perhaps they let Jonathan Kent hog that image as a little ;) to the fans....possibly. And wot no Lois? Maybe Lois becoming a reporter is directly linked to Lex becoming evil!?

Still we were left with the now classic Lex, half in light, half in shadow (good work lighting guys) making his choice, the ghost of his mother fading away.....superb.

The episode Lexmas may have been cheesy but it was very well acted.

It was slightly confusing but another typical American show when you can be shot twice and still survive hehehe.

What was going on with Senator Jonathan's slick back hairstyle and those funky spectacles?!

I guess this episode showing Lex's choices had to be shown somehow. We all know who he will become and in previous episodes there has been hints of his darkside.

Good to see Season 5 continue with Clark showing off his powers, this time super speed to deliver presents and save Santa.

Also what is your opinion about Clark flying or super jumping in episode 3 "Hidden," to reach the missile silo?

I think when Clark finally realises his destiny, he will use all his powers. That maybe this season's finale which shouldn't be the last season...

Laterzzz

This was about Lex's perspective so Clark using his powers etc wouldn't have been central to the plot after all it revolved around lana and lex.

I like the fact that Clark and Chloe's relationship was somewhat ambiguous.I liked it...I actually like lana and lex together.

Though I was thinking that as well - it wasn't a vision of the future or even an alternative future - it was just a dream fantasy of Lex so his imagination would only show him elements of what he wants for himself and the others in his dream.

I agree, but do you know it's been March for a week now?

I loved the episode, and the best part was my mum and my sister actaully got into it too. My sister was going 'BUT IT'S SO SAD!!'

Except the only thought I had at the end of the episode was 'good one Lex's mum.'

I know Lexmas was not about Clark's powers but I was just asking Psychosis a question about Hidden episode 3.

This show will always be about Clark, no matter what the storyline of each episode...

Hi there Ramjeetp,
I'm not 100% sure exactly what your looking for here - if your asking as to if it was a jump or flight - then without any doubt whatsoever it WAS a jump - when we seen Clark fly in Arrival he was possessed with this true kryptonian self - but this time if you watch closely you see Clark JUST manage to catch onto the rocket - now if he was flying he would have no need to catch onto the rocket and could probably push it much like Superman did in the movies.

But it was a very well portrayed scene and it was very iconic to see Clark just outside Earths atmosphere before he propelled himself back towards Earth (this part looked a lot like flying but remember he's in space and just as he could push himself forward when he was in the centre of the tornado in Tempest & Vortex he could do the same here)

Though I was curious if Smallville are trying to use the "aura of protection" excuse for his clothes not burning up - since it's happened before and after this ep, but at the same time just as many show his clothes get damaged so who knows, it just seems to be a stylistic choice at the moment on whatever one looks better in the particular scene they're showing.

I hoped I shed some light onto your question - though I do wonder why you asked me (do you think me a authority on Smallville? if so gee shuks! :D) and on a post concentrating on the ep Lexmas you probably are off topic as am i, so in an attempt to bring it back to this ep - what did you make of Clark running down the building wall? (I always thought it was only Flash that could do that - but it was still a really good touch to see him use his powers differently)

Hiya Psycosis

Thanks for replying and I know the question I asked was off topic but I just thought I would ask.

I just think anyone who watches this show and is a fan has great taste lol... So I don't really see you as authority on Smallville (sorry) but just wanted your opinion really.

We have seen Clark use his powers in many ways so far in Season 5 like catching the missile, leaping to grab the helicopter in Exposed and defeating Professor Milton Fine.

I think it was a good effect to see Clark run down the wall and save the drunken, yet maybe real Santa hehe.

I honestly can't wait to see when or how Clark will accept his fate/destiny. We all know he will eventually, just hope it is this season. If there are more seasons after this, I am not looking forward to the season 5 finale cliffhanger. I was so gutted with the season 4 finale but Arrival was a great return episode.

Well sorry for the confusion and I hope I have explained myself...

Was it just me, or did the clark/chloe/santa subplot seem very 'lois and clark'? It was exactly the kind of thing they used to do, only with chloe instead of lois.

I loved the main story being from lex's point of view. But it was kinda forced the way he turned bad in the end. I know he is lex luthor, but for a while I almost beleived he would to the right thing.

Good call, you're right. It did remind me of those whacky adventures :)

Hey sometimes you want Lex to be good and sometimes you want him to throw a puppy on the fire.....metaphorically speaking

Didnt like the 'was that the real santa?' moment when the toys disappeared.

I thought it was way too cheesy. But then again you know the US loves cheese:p

I really liked this episode, would have been far more appropriate if it was shown around December :p Lex played a very good part in this story line.
