What is the best Premier/Finale

This is a spinoff of the best episode polls I don't believe this poll exists yet and it didn't quite have a place to be posted in the episode forums. So I propose the question which season finale/ premier is the best/most powerful/memorable (whatever criterion you believe is the most important)?

premire: Exile or Crusade
Finale: Convenant

I like Smallville premires better, I think Smallville season premires are stronger than the finales, they always feel like a set up for the premire.

I voted for Crusade. Seeing Kal-El fly (even if it wasn't clark) was Sooo super cool. Also, when lois appeared at the begining I literally jumped out of my chair and went Yipee!!! This was way before I found K-Site or even looked up any community stuff on Smallville, so everything was a complete suprise.

arrival was an amazing opening for season 5 and really gave me brighter look on smallville after season 5. the two aliens were so cool and it got me so pumped for the spaceship/braniac plotline. and i agree, cayayo, premieres are always better than the finales

Favorite premiere : Arrival

This is my second favorite episode of the show, after Shattered. The opening alone is reason enough to love this episode. The intro of the FOS combined with the "Welcome home my son" from Jor-El gave me chills. The end with Depeche Mode and Brainiac is so awesome too. My only gripe was that the fight between Clark and the two Kryptonians was way too short.

Favorite Finale : Covenant

I loved everything about this episode. The intro with Kara was effective, and I was really happy to see that she had not been used as a lame Supergirl like character. Clark finds out he will fly one day, Clark/Lex split ties, and the fantastic final ten minutes. I just love this episode!

Even though these are my absolute favorites in terms of the premieres and finales, I love them all. Especially Exile and Vortex in terms of premieres, and I still love the cliffhanger of Lana being sucked up in the tornado the best out of any finale cliffhanger.

For favorite finale I'd have to go with "Tempest". There were so many things that kept me in suspense and it was th eonly finale where I didn't know how the cliffhangers would end.

As for favorite premiere, that would have to go to "Exile". It resolved the events slowly and wasn't rushed to do so.

Best Finale - Exodus

Such a great episode in my favorite season of the series. With the best cliffhangers the Smallville team have ever done especially Clark leaving on RedK.

Best premiere - Exile

Not only the best premiere but my personal favorite episodes and 4/5 of my friends that watch smallville favorite to. IMO it had everything such a huge build up and surpassed my expectations. It had everything great character devolpment, Brilliant writing, Awsome Directing eg. That shot in the cave that went through Namon and seigith to the clouds on Lex's island and my second favorite scene of the series with Clark robbing the bank.

For me it's a tie for the premieres; Vortex,Exile & Crusade. All 3 episodes were just AWESOME


For the season finale it's definately Commencement...No doubt in my mind about that :)

For me it was a tie between: Pilot, Tempest, and Exile, but I chose Exile because it is awesome!!!! Red-K, Jonathan getting powers at the end, Morgan Edge, Lex on the island by himself, EVERYTHING!!!! this episode is amazing!!!

I've only seen Commencement/Arrival actually LIVE so I'd have to be biased and say those two. (My first epsiode of Smallville they showed fresh was 4x02 "Gone".) I watched the other premiere/finales from DVDs since I sorta got a late start in my Smallville viewing.

My favourite finale was Commencement but I love Exile so much that it my favourite premiere and favourite out of all the choices. It's so powerful and Tom Welling looks really hot!!

Opener/Premiere: 'Vortex'- The first episode that I ever saw so it holds a special place in my heart haha. It looked like such a cool series so I bought season 1 and caught up.

Finale: 'Tempest'- I like this one a lot because of the twister cliffhanger and the promise that Clark made to Whitney.

Oh boy...really hard choice.

My favorite all-time episode is "Exile", simply because I can watch it over and over again.

However, "Arrival" was terrific, and entire last act with Depeche Mode's song and Braniac was genius. So that's a VERY close second.

As for finale, I'd have to say it's between "Exodus" and "Commencement". "Commencement" had much more action than the other, and marvelous special effects, however when Martha miscarried in "Exodus" I literally sobbed, not to mention the magnificent Clana scene. And considering I'm usually a Chark fan, and it has to be good for me to really like it, that means it was pretty darn good. So I'm going with

Commencement for the finale. Probably one of the strongest finales they've had. The only bad point about that finale was that it wrapped up an incredibly weak season and the scene with Isobelle killing GT was lame lame lame. Other than that it was very flashy and exciting with lots of great special effects. It's probably their biggest finale. Tempest would come in second place.

Come to think of it though, in one way Tempest is a better finale than Commencement since it had more heart and was less about flashy special effects and more about character and plot. So, I'm torn between the two.:p

The only good part of Covenant though was the last five minutes. And there's too many things about Exodus that just annoys me.

For premiers it would definitely go to Exile. Exile is one of my top favorite episodes.

i watched Tempest just recently, and i remembered how emotional it was to see that the first time with Clark and Lana screaming and when the truck gets sucked up into the twister.

I'm between Tempest and Covenant, however. The Kara storyline didn't really interest me, but the ending music combined with just everything happening to everyone was pretty powerful.

No current favorite yet for season premiere episode. They all seem to disappoint in one way or another. In fact, every time a new season starts, I almost start skipping a few episodes per season because it seems to get worse in some ways.

Favorite Premiere: 401 - Crusade

This episode ranks in at #5 all time for me. I know this, because I have a running tally on every episode on my computer. I loved everything in this episode. We got to see the introduction of Lois Lane, we got to meet Jason Teague in this one, Jonathan awoke from his comatose state, questions about Chloe's death arose, we saw Lex in Egypt, we were introduced to the three stones theme of the season, and finally above all else, we got to see Clark / Kal-El take flight. An amazing episode.

Runner-Up: 301 - Exile

Favorite Finale: 422 - Commencement

This episode ranks in at #8 all time for me. As with my favorite premiere, I loved this episode in every way possible. We're treated to the death of both Teagues, the conclusion of the three stones theme of S4, we get to see Clark and Lana share their feelings about each other (pre - 503 - Hidden, which contained the last Clana moments I liked, after 503 they went downhill as far as I'm concerned), we got to see more of the bad side of Lex, the beginnings of the Fortress of Solitude were established for S5, and last but not least, in what is quite possibly my favorite moment of S4 we got to see Clark save the little boy before the meteor struck him. Kind of the turn-around moment in Clark's attitude about his destiny in my opinion.

My favourite finale/premiere episodes are Commencement and Arrival. In Commencement, we see Clark graduate, the second meteor shower and the cool special and sound effects, Clark finally uniting the three crystals which eventually lead him to the fortress of solitude. In Arrival, we see more action with the two followers of Zod searching for Clark, the actual fortress of solitude, the Kents surviving both the meteor shower and their encounter with Jason and Clark losing his powers and becoming more human.
