yeah, i meant NES. I sometimes call it the original Nintendo because when i refer to it as NES to other people they have no clue what i am talking about for some reason.

I think the only reason people would be consider the N64 or a Gamecube as Nintendo's best system is because they probably werent old enough to experience the awesomeness of the SNES.
I mean Im only 19 but the SNES was the greatest system ever. It had hundreds of great games. Not hundreds total, no hundreds of GREAT games.
The N64 and Gamecube got like one good game every 6 months.

Exactly why I think the Snes is the best.
Although, by the sounds of the revolution that may be taking the snes place soon with the whole backwards compatability thing.

They are all great systems but the Super Nintendo is my favorite by far. Tons of great games for that system that i still play off and on.

I have never owned a Super NES or a 64. Out of the 2 remaining, I had more fun playing the original NES. Duck Hunt anyone?

n64 was the most revolutionary system ever, it was the first to have a control stick and the first to be in 360 degrees, but i do like the original nintendo as well. actually i love them all.

For now I'd have to say SNES, but after the Wii comes out, I'm betting it's gonna be the Wii that's the best yet.

I voted for SNES. I love it for games like FF3 (6j), Super Metroid, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past and Super Mario RPG. Yes!

the super nintendo.
it was my second nintendo system (my first was the original gameboy). it has a huge library of games, which included super mario world (which i think it up there in the series) and the fighting game that started the fighting game revolution..street fighter 2.
i'm planning to get the wii when it releases. the innovation of the controller is crazy, but the backwards compatibility, in my opinion, is a big selling point for the system for the older crowd (for nostalgic reasons). you can also say it's a selling point for the younger crowd that didn't get to play classics not only found on the snes, but the nes, nintendo 64, sega genesis and turbo grafx 16, as well.

SNES. I remember the days of Zelda, Street fighter, and the two i played for HOURS, Ogre Battle, and Romance Of Three Kingdoms 3

I loved my SNES to death but I think N64 is my all time favorite because it introduced me to trully addictive multiplayer games like Goldeneye, Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Bros and Blitz!
and on an entirely unrelated note: (i normally hate to brag but,) i am sending this post using my new nintendo wii!! :D

I really only have two or three good games for it, but Wii has proven itself the most fun system. In the couple of month I've had it, I've been addicted to it - even moreso after I got games like Twilight Princess and Godfather: Blackhand Edition.
And with a Virtual Console that plays games from previous consoles, you have the best system Nintendo's shipped out yet.

DS has some of the greatest modern games out there, console or hand held, and provides a very unique, immersive control experience. Thus, It's #1 for me.
The Wii can play NES, SNES, N64, and Gamecube games, so of the consoles, I'd say it's the best, if only becuase you can experience the greatness of every Nintendo console that has come before (along with the sega and turbografx). It doesn't have many good games developed for it itself yet, but with Prime 3, Mario Kart Wii, Mario Galaxy, and Smash Bros Brawl, some great games are on the way.
And Wii Ware will (hopefully) make it easy for a great variety of great games made by the little guys to be widely available.

I love my DS too, TND. It's got New Super Mario Bros, Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright Justice For All, and Trauma Center just to name a few.

Phoenix Wright is indeed amazing.
Evreyone on this board who has a DS, but does not own Phoenix Wright or any of its sequels, right now you should stop reading this and order it. It's one of the best games on the DS, and in my opinion one of the best games of all time.
If you don't have a DS- Phoenix Wright alone is reason enough to go out and get one.

Not my cup of tea.
There are other must-owns on the DS. Mario Kart DS, Metroid Prime Hunters, and the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. There are other fun romps like Star Fox Command and the more patience-demanding Animal Crossing Wild World.
I'm disappointed by the third party support for the DS. It's there, but no one other than Nintendo is really going above and beyond in all areas of the DS's capabilities. I do give kudos to whoever is developing and publishing games like Trauma Center, Cooking Mama, and Phoenix Wright - though I have no personal interest in any of them - for branching out and really either getting involved in the touch screen and/or storytelling.
I'm even more disappointed that there aren't more first-person shooters. If you can stomach the cramped hands (which, IMO, are never as bad as made out to be), they're really enjoyable on DS. I know some will brush off FPS as being repetitive and mostly consisting of run-and-gun affairs, but games like Bioshock, Metroid Prime, and the upcoming DS title Dementium: The Ward (which I am sooo getting - look for and check out the trailer for it) prove that they can have as much depth as any other genre.

The lack of fps's for DS is quite strange. Hunter's proved that good shooters can be made for the DS- and with better control than most console shooters.
I just might have exagerated the greatness of Ace attorney a tad... If you don't like the point and click adventure style game, then you may not enjoy Phoenix.
Mario Kart, Hunters, and Phantom Hourglass are must-haves of course. Ninja Gaiden and Contra 4 are both going to be amazing.

I demand more FPS. There was rumors of a Halo DS game, but Bungie said if they ever did it, it wouldn't be FPS - WTF?
Luckily we've got Dementium and Call of Duty DS coming out soon.

Sadly, I'm more of an action fan. I don't even really play RPGs. If there's not explosions, bullets, or lasers somewhere I tend to get bored. But, I can tolerate a slow beginning and whatnot if there's a bigger payoff later on - like The Legend of Zelda or even Resident Evil 4, which starts off slow.

I can't WAIT for Ninja Gaiden DS.
