I'm putting the link in the thread, so i'd appreciate feedback since this vid took 2 weeks (full-time student) but if i don't get a lot, oh well. i don't make my vids for the feedback (even though you guys are th e only ones who see them besides me. From now on i'm gonna put a link in the thread, but i'm also going to automatically send links to people who want me to, so if you want to be put on the list for future vids, PM me and let me know. Yes, i realize that is the worst runon sentence ever, anyway...i hope you guys enjoy the vid. I feel it is one of my best.

I really found the intro with the instrumental music to be amazing, but I just didn't like the Relient K song. Although the lyrics were fitting, I just found the way they were sung to be annoying. The song kind of alleviated the intensity that should've been much stronger. The outro was also quite good and I hadn't heard that score before. The editing was good in some place and but some of the scenes were a bit too long. I hope you don't get upset with the feedback, I'm just trying to be honest and constructively critique.

upset? not at all!

i can actually see your point in the fact that the song wasn't as grave as the lyrics and clips, and i did consider, and might still take the intro and outtro and put them around a different vid (one more fitting) i'd also like to know which scenes you thought were too long. not saying they weren't, just curious. but, critique appreciated!

I'm glad, I'll be the first to watch your "different vid". The scene that I found a bit to long was the Dooku/Anakin fight. I didn't mind the switch between the Episode II fight and the Episode III fight (that was kind of cool), but there was a part where you show Dooku on the ground and then they are fighting again and then Anakin kills him. That was just a bit out place IMO.

Ashley,

Woo-hoo! I'm glad you're back to making vids. And a Star Wars one too. Yay!

The beginning of the vid was great. Loved your choice of Episode III music. Very haunting. Loved the text and the buid up to Padmé's choking. However, when the rock song kicked it, it jarred me out of the moment. It felt like an entirely different vid. And then the ending was more SW-esqe. Lovely music, great text.

I enjoyed this, but I have to view it as two separate vids. The middle rock vid really fit Anakin's teenage angst. And I love the final moments with the quick edits.

The Star Wars music portions were fantastic too. Didn't fit with the song, but I loved them on their own.

Good job!
Andé :)

Ashley,

That was a pretty good video.

Liked the opening part with the text and the instrumental. It did a very good job setting the tone for the video.

The song was a good choice. It was an unexpected one for me, because it is not the type of song that I would picture Star Wars with. But when I started to really listen to the lyrics, it did fit pretty well with Anakin's story overall.

I loved the part of the video that had the faster cuts with it at the tail end of the song with words that you used for the middle portion of the video. I loved seeing the video go back and forth with scenes dealing with Padme and Anakin, combined with him going through the final Darth Vader transformation. Loved the final clip of Darth Vader in the sepia. That was sweet.

Your scene selection was good as well. I really liked the Episode II clips that you had in there, especially the one with Anakin riding low to the ground on the glider. That is probably one of my all time favorite SW clips. You can just feel the tension building. After the end with the faster clips mixed with Darth, this was my favorite part of the video. I loved how you mixed in the faster clips of Episode II starting with the low riding glider scene. It was timed really well with the music. Another thing I liked was the combo of seeing Anakin striking down with his light saber into the falling Obi-Wan (2:34-2:36). Now I don't know if this was an intended scene manipulation, but it came off working really well, especially since it was a moment that happened earlier than Episode III. It came off looking like the beginning of the end.

The end of the video with the SW theme was good as well, because it showed what's to come with Luke, and the eventual battle between father and son.

There was one part of the video that I had kind of a problem with though. 3:15 - 3:55.

The first part was from 3:15 - 3:25. A bunch of lines in the song went by and you stayed on the same scene in slow motion that shows Anakin and Christopher Lee's character with their light sabers mixed together starting at each other. It felt like this went on for way too long.

Then the other part that felt weird was when you showed the scene with Anakin standing over CL's body at 3:38 with the two light sabers closing, and then you went in reverse showing his head in between the two light sabers, and being decapitated. It would have been better, if you showed it play out in the correct order with the head in between the two light sabers, the decapitation, and then Anakin standing over with the two light sabers turning off. It seemed weird to originally seem him dead, then back to life, then dead again - If this makes any sense

So overall, it was a pretty good vid Ashley. Aside from the section I mentioned, and a few repeated scenes, I really dug your video. I definately agree that it is your best SW video yet.

THank-you so much for the detailed feedback. as a vidder yourself you know how valued that is. the part where it shows anakin killing dooku out of order, i got from the novel. in it, anakin gets so into the fight and borderline darkside that he doesn't realize that he KILLED someone until after he's done it. that was what i was trying to show...guess i didn't succeed too well...btw, the lightsaber cut down to obi-wan was completely serendipidy.

Ashley,

Thanks for the heads up about the video. I had no idea this forum even existed!

Okay, the song choice for this video was suprising, but worked wonderfully. A bouncy pop song wouldn't normally fit for the end of Padmé's life, but it was good.

I adored the Palpatine during the "dumb friends" line. Loved as the picnic seen "fades away". Good use of Anakin's dream sequence. Really liked your clip choices and I loved the use of the sepia tone. Really good job.

And bonus points for a handmaiden sighting! :D

I think the only criticism I have is the differing aspect ratios. AotC was full screen, while RotS was letterbox. Would have worked better if they were the same format, imho.

Other than that, fantastic job. I love your vids, and this one is not exception.

Aww, it was so sad. Not a big fan of the song, but it worked really well for this video. Great scenes, especially sad Anakin and Padme. Really liked how he was running to his ship at "please don't go". Nice slow motion. Awesome how it ended on her necklace. Great video. Looking forward to more

Great scene selection, especially the wedding and the field (ep 2). The "memory" of the wedding in black in white was neat. Also liked that you put them rolling in the grass (I think it's so cute) during the "memories" line. Gotta agree with the "dumb friends" part. That was awesome. Also liked how the close up of them kissing was fading away slowly over the farther away shot (2:26). Neat that you ended it on Anakin's dream of Padme's dying. Awesome video.

Cute vid. I'm a huge SW fan, and so I had to check this one out. It certainly was an interesting song choice, but it actually got a few good laughs out of me. Plus of course, it made me sad for them allover again. :\

Ande,

thank-you so much. geez, it's been forever since i've been on here, and it's nice to come back to post a video and actually get feedback. sorry about the aspect ratios. i now have the widescreen aotc so if i can find the time i'll fix it. Thanks again for the feedback. it's alway nice to hear your opinion, since i think your vids are pretty awesome.

pink sweater,
i love using b&w in vids and it's nice when someone notices. the rolling in the grass is one of my fav scenes also, (probably why i use it in so many of my videos). i didn't really plan on ending it with the dream instead of her real death, but i couldn't get the actual one to work. the dream makes it more obvious that she's dying. thanks for the detailed feedback.

ferd,
thanks, if i made you laugh, and i made you sad then i guess i did a pretty good job. i have to say... i love your saying by your avatar!

thanks. as soon as i saw episode 3, and listened to this song again, a video to it automatically came to mind. thanks for noticing the running to the ship part. i was wondering if anone would get the fact that he was running to stop Mace...which will end with him as Vader. :( i never planned on ending with the necklace, until i used the clip with it for the "give me a part of you to cling to". feedback appreciated!

When the vid started I was like Avril Lavigne in a Star Wars vid?!? WHAT?!?! But the song really fit the vid well. I also have to agree with Ande and say that the "stupid friends" part was great! A really fun vid but it sucks that most people will probably have a hard time finding this vid.

Man, it is too bad about the split forum thing. Maybe if they made the stuff more easily accessible.

I mean, you go to Forum > Smallville Creative Fan Endeavors > Smallville Fan Created Media > and then how do you find your thread? or even this forum section? I know it isn't Smallville, but I think it should be ALL creative fan endeavors, I mean, not pictures so much, but before the split we never saw too many non-smallville manips, after all this IS a Smallville site.

That's my rant, good job on the video, just wish I wasn't only the 7th post!

I'm back. I'm happy. I'm grinning like an idiot. Mostly 'cause of the video. I liked it. A lot. In the beginning, it actually looked like they could have been saying the lyrics. Especially when Han pointed to himself during "this feeling is real." Nice that you made Han and Leia kiss during "belong to you." And Anakin and Padme too. The overlapping shots at 1:08 was a nice touch. Loved how you put the defensive lyrics with Han and Leia and the outright lyrics with Anakin and Padme. Padme's reaction at "brave enough to leave with me tonight" was really good. Awesome that Padme hesitated at 2:50. Wheeee! More Anakin rolling in the grass scenes. So, yeah, that was awesome. Looking forward to more.

Ashley,

I really liked I Need You to Love Me. The song choice was great. I really liked the song. This video brought out a lot of emotion. I thought it was very cool how you built up the Luke/Vader clips with clips from the prequel films. I actually think this is your best SW video because of how emotional it was. Scene selection wise you were almost golden. My only recommendation would have been to show the end of EP III with Luke being born and Padme's death to help build up the intro of Luke a little better. I actually thought you were going to work that in, because of how the video started on Anakin and Padme. That is the only thing I would have done differently scene selection wise. My only other gripe is way too much mouth movement.

I had one question for you - Any reason in particular why you faded to black before we could fully see Anakin come in during the hologram from the end of ROTJ? It might have been kind of cool to be able to see him before you faded, but no worries..

Great job.

You gotta get back to making Smallville vids again. :)

"Written in the Stars":
Good song for them. First scene was kinda long, though. Like what you did with them kissing and the "Episode II" words". Neat how he was running after her at "made it back to you". Also awesome how she pulled away, then the songs sang that bit about "without you." Yay for field scenes! You know I love em!

"I Need You to Love Me":
Gotta agree. Pretty emotional. Pretty awesome. Brilliant caption (where'd you get that? Make it up yourself?) and the scenes matched well with it. Awesome first Luke/Vader scene. Really liked what you did with the lightning. Vader/Anakin first watching (his son), then helping (to kill Mace), then suffering it (from Dooku). Looked kinda like memories, too, then going back to his son. Yeah, the last scene seemed to cut out kinda early, but it was a great scene to end with.

Ever consider making a video to "Star Wars Cantina" or "The Saga Begins"? I think you'd do great.

Great vids. Look forward to more!

I have been a fan of your videos for a while now. In fact, when I would search for Star Wars vids, I would look for ones that you had done. I've only seen two so far: Please Don't Go and Who I Am.
Please Don't Go is one of my absolute fan made vids of all time. Others have used this song, but I think that your version was the best. It about made me cry the first time I saw it. I love how you did the flashbacks and the way you made him look regretful on the volcano planet. Good stuff.
Who I Am: I love this song and the vid was great. I especially loved how you tied in the book, and a part of it that I thought they couldn't quite convey through the movie. I also think that it would fit another one of Hayden Christensen's movies Life As a House, that is, if you vid outside the realm of Star Wars and if you take requests.
I tried to download: What Was Lost, As Lovers Go, Written in the Stars, I Need You to Love Me, Return of the Jedi, and May Angels Lead You In, but none of the links worked. If you could repost them or PM me with the links, I would really appreciate it. Can't wait til your next vid!

I Need You to Love Me - The beginning lyrics, set to that scene just work wonderfully. I like the lyrics as we transition to Vader and Luke - they suit well, too. Like the final shot, too.

As Lovers Go - I just can't get over "all wrong" while Leia is kissing Luke - brought a grin to my face.

Inside this Amor - "They don't know that I go running home . . ." - really like that section as applied to Anakin; the whole song suits well. I like going to little Anakin for the "child" line, especially in the end when Vader is used.

Thanks for all the links! So here goes the review...

As Lovers Go
I really liked the idea of this vid of doing a shipper video with Han & Leia and Anakin & Padme. The song choice was awesome and I really liked the black & white scenes with the coloured scenes.

I Need You To Love Me
The intro was really good and thought the text you used was perfect. I also thought going from Padme's and Anakin's relationship to Darth Vader's and Luke's relationship was also a very creative idea for a vid! My favoirite part of the vid was when Luke being shocked and Darth Vader flashback. I'm sure that was exactly what was going in his head. Loved the ending too!

May Angels Lead You In
This was my favoirite vid of the four. I thought your scene selection was spot on and I really liked the editing in this vid. The best part was the picture slide show of Padme at the end of the vid!

Inside The Armor
WOW! The song fit so well with Anakin centric video! Again loved the flashback just before Anakin kills Dooku! Great use of clips of a young Anakin!

Overall I thought all four vids were really good. My only complaint was the moving of the mouth of the characters without hearing what they were saying got a little annoying! 4 great Star Wars vids, keep it up!

"Inside this Armor"
Sorry it took so long. I forgot I had the link. This song fits Anakin so well. Especialy since Vader wears armor sorta. Hehee. Liked how you slowed down Anakin right at the end of that first scene. Neat how both Anakin and Obi-Wan got hurt at the "wounded in the fight" line. Liked how Padme was trying to help him at "who picks me up". Great scenes for that first "cry for a while" and "the warrior is a child". Whoa, switching between Anakin about to kill Dooku and how Dooku injured Anakin was awesome, looked like Anakin was remembering what Dooku did to him as he had him in his power. Loved it! At 2'27, Anakin's expression is perfect. At 2'41, lovely scene for "running home". Liked the switching between grown Anakin/Vader and the black and white little Ani.

A while back you had posted a vid called "Who I Am" and said it was your best vid. Of course, I was pretty excited to see it, but the link didn't work for me. I was wondering if you could send me a new one?

"Please Remember"
YES! Another vid.
Loved how that first look at Luke was dramatically slowed down. And having the guy's (I forget his name) voice fade out as the music came up was awesome.

Whoa, the voiceovers were fantastic. Loved how it was like memories of how he fell to the dark side. Very well chosen quotes. Vader looks so pensive, too. And that's quite an accompolishment for a guy in a mask. Maybe it was the way he moved. I especially liked how you mixed the "not leave it in darkness...you were my brother Anakin!...I loved you" and "hold me...like you did by the lake on Naboo...so long ago..."

Great scenes for "though we go our separate ways", "and you were there for me" and "wild and free" (first time).
They had the perfect expressions for "goodbye, there's no sadder word to say".

When I thought "sad to walk away is coming up" I was thinkin', "Oh, I hope she uses that scene of Obi-Wan leaving him on Mustafar." And you did. I am happy.

The music kinda drowned out "I've accepted the truth that..."etc. Did you use more than one quote there overlapping? 'Cause I heard it till "once Anakin" but the next part didn't sound like "Skywalker my father". Just curious.

Aww, sweet Ani/Padme moment at "I was there for you and you were there for me". YES! I was waiting. And now it is here. Anakin rolling in the grass. I am happy again. Great scenes for "how we laughed and how we smiled". Also for "stood by you/stood by me". Fun scene for "wrote our names across the sky". The wedding scene was awesome for "I had you and you had me."

Lovely ending of Vader and Luke.

Thanks for the heads up,
Charlie

i'm glad you liked it. i overlapped the "i've accepted the truth...." with "it's the name of your true self you've only forgotten it" sorry it was hard to make-out. i'm glad you like the grass scene. this song was on my mind forever, and a real pain to figure out exactly how i wanted to go with it. but reading your feedback, and knowing that i made a guy in a mask look pensive, it was worth all the work!!

Thanks for the link to your Star Wars vid 'My Sacrifice' I really liked how you were able to create your own Star Wars intro. I thought that was a really good Anakin & Padme shipper video. You really did a good job combining the more tender moments with the darker moments from Episode III. Loved the setence at the end of the credits! Great job.

thanks MC marky,

i'm glad you liked it, and it was nice to have a chance to use the "scroll perspective" title option in movie maker. good to know it turned out okay.

"Who I Am"
Wow. This was awesome. The song (was it "Padme's Ruminations"?) was perfect for the beginning. I loved all the captions except that first one. Sorry. The rest were very powerful. The scenes you used were great. I loved how the viewer is put in Anakin's shoes. [reaches for a tissue] I loved the scene at 2'08, where Anakin looks sad and the song is saying "my heart in the saddest state it's ever been in". The first "stop right there, that's exactly where I lost it" fit the scene perfectly (where his mother dies and he starts killing). Seeing Anakin kill Dooku was an awesome scene for "never should have crossed it". Awesome scene of Anakin for "wish that I could take back" at 3'55 and the whole part of Anakin taking off Windu's arm fit the lyrics wonderfully. At 3'57, Anakin's face was so sad and matched the lyrics nicely as well. I liked how you showed Anakin right after he became Vader for "the person I became". At 4'26, it was neat how it changed between good Anakin (who I am) and bad Anakin (who I've been). Aww, loved those awesome quotes about darkness/candle at the end.

"My Sacrifice"
The scroll was awesome. It would have been more dramatic if it was a little slower though. Liked how Anakin ran to Padme at "we meet again" and how that same scene was used later for "reunite". The scene of Anakin remembering the wedding was fantastic, especially with the black and white. I also liked that he was loosening up and becoming more comfortable again with Padme at "I'm careless". Loved the slowmotion scene of Anakin after his dream. Great scenes for the "tears to my eyes" bits.
This was a sweet, sad movie. Enjoyed it a lot.

These were super vids,
Charlie

Ashley,

Sorry it took so long to comment. Thanks for the heads up on the new vid!

"My Sacrafice" - While not my favorite type of music, I enjoyed the vid nonetheless. Loved the opening scroll and the very last tagline at the end. Funny! Really enjoyable. My only nitpick is the different aspect ratios of the two films, but that's just a personal thing with me. Otherwise, well done! :)

"Please Remember" - Amazing beginning! I loved hearing all his old memories of Padmé and Obi-Wan. Very good choices with the quotes. Obi-Wan's final words with Anakin in RotS always break my heart. The lightsaber flashback from RotS to AotC was perfect. The final scene was perfect as well. Great job!

Andé :)

Thanks so much for the feedback!!! It means a lot.

Here are two different ROTS trailers that I've made lately. The first is rather short, but I have to say it lived up to my expectations, and it took only about an hour to do. The second, however, I was never truly satisfied with, even after tweeking it for weeks. Oh well, enjoy!!

Thanks for the notification on the update of your videos! :D

These were both really awesome trailers! Great job on both! They were beautifully done with the dialogue and scene selections!

And for the last one, I never thought of Obidala as a ship. I honestly don't know what my reaction would have been. I'm more of an Anakin+Padme shipper (Not sure what that one is called  ).

Anyway, thanks for sharing these with us! I can't wait for more! :D

Your welcome!

Not really an obidala shipper either, but I thought a trailer with that twist would be cool. I'm glad you liked the other one too. and, this is going to prove forever that i am a star wars geek, but...anakin and padme is usually refered to as Ani-Ami (dala)

Hehe, yeah it was a neat idea. And as far as being a Star Wars geek, there's nothing wrong with that. :)
