It was also a nice touch for the ending, showing Martha burning the dvd, then Lional watching the dvd, leading to one of the best jaw-dropping endings of Smallville yet.

yes, i agree (although i wouldnt stop watching). she's acting really out of character. either its really bad writing on the part of the writers or they have her tricking lionel...either way it better end well!

If she did get together with Lionel it would be a sort of betrayal to Jonathan and that would seriously bug me (as it always has) but i think it would be a really interesting thing to have on the show. Call me shallow and insenstive but that's the way I feel :p

I'm in the minority but I'm looking forward to the Lionel/Martha just because it'd be so hilarious on what conflict it would cause. It would never last. I think Martha's vulnerable and scared right now, maybe always had a small something for Lionel. She didn't have as much distrust for the Luthors as her husband and felt as times he was being too closeminded (I do too as well, but that's not the point) It will be interesting where it leads

Which reminds me, somewhere in the Commencement episode(I think), Lionel shot Jason to prevent him from saying anything more to Lex. Was Lionel protecting Clark then? Or he only wants that information for himself?

I think Lionel always knew Clark was different and not from around Earth as when he was trying to make the replica key of Clark's ship in season 2. I am sure I heard somewhere that he helped out JK and Martha with Clark's adoption documents.

When Jor-El took over Lionel's body, I am sure Lionel must remember something about it. He was in the fortress in Hidden (ep 3 of season 5), so that's how he must know Clark's real name. Also what was the document Lionel showed JK in Reckoning and why didn't he question Clark when he saved him from falling from the building in Vengeance?

I personally think Lionel is gathering all this information for himself and will eventually use it against Clark or Martha such as black-mail. It is almost like he is doing it to show Lex that he is still the most powerful man in Smallville.

ramjeetp, thanks. Yeah, I remembered Jonathan approached Lionel for assistance in obtaining Clark's adoption papers, forgot what season that was though.

I'm still trying to wrap my head on the possibility that Lionel has some memories during the time Jor-El briefly took over his body in Hidden.

My friend and I also thought that the document could be Clark's adoption papers because it's the only thing that would make him mad at Lionel.

It makes me wonder how Lionel will show his trump card to the Kents. :(
