First of all, LOVED the ending! That was SOOOO cool! Is Lionel Jor-El? I don't think so, personally, but I'll discuss that on that topic board. Here, I just wanted to say how pleased I was that OPERA has FINALLY returned in a very kickarse way! It was a montage, took me back to Season 3, Lionel getting his hair shaved, and all those dramatic opera moments. I'm glad the producers chose that beautiful opera song because it totally fit the moment, and no other kind of genre of music sums up the drama and other-worldly epicness of this scope. Opera just gives it that whole legendary, Superhero feel! Great stuff!

Hahahah! The MB rules! Great stuff. Hey, while we're on the topic, does anyone know what that opera song is? I gotta download it from Itunes ASAP! :)

"for about a half a second... I thought you were talking about me." LOL :)
Oh by the way, in case anyone wants to know, someone posted the name of the opera song. I think they said it's "Casa Diva"

It's actually called Casta Diva as Tyrrath stated in the "Music from Cyborg" thread. I checked it out at towerrecords.com and it may be the version done by Nana Mouskouri (I have to listen to it again and compare). My grandfather has tapes of her concerts, so I know her name from before.
But I'm glad they brought back the classical music. My 2 favorite times it was used was when Lionel was about to blow his brains out (or throat actually) and at the last few minutes of Covenant. Their use of it in Covenant was just perfect. It truly showed how evil the MB was and how dark S3 ended. So good that it sends shivers down your spine.

I've always loved opera in Smallville, I still wish I could find the piece that plays at the end of season 3, over the montage.
The thing I love most about opera in Smallville is it usually only plays over big going-ons. I always know something big is going to happen when the opera comes on.
In fact, I fully expect that if Lionel is ever to die, it'll be to a piece of opera music. :D

I agree, TARDIS Team. . .opera is absolutely AWESOME for extremely sad or emotional scenes. . .it just adds a new dimension that pop can't create!

I've always loved the opera played during important Lionel scenes and was pleased to see the return of it in Cyborg. Had a very S3 feel to it.

I agree! It would be quite a fitting end to the great MB!

Though I thought that Johnny Cash song at the end of Shattered fit perfectly for the scene with Lex staring out of his padded room.

Hey, Im new here just joined and I thought the scenes where they add the opera music are so good. I made a little list of all the times I can remember sum classical/opera piece but unfortunately I am not blessed with the knowledge to name the songs. If anyone could fill the missing links that would be good. And also if I missed any bits, I swear there were sum nice opera songs with Lex but couldnt remember where.

Will someone explain to me how Lionel was in his office when they just made a big deal about him being kicked out of his office by Lex last episode?

Hmm, no wonder in the future he wears that glove on one hand. I always thought it's because he loses a finger where he wears the k-ring, but now I know better. I wonder if he does the moonwalk in his spare time.
