wouldn't this have been an ideal episode to foreshadow Metallo?

This would have been an excellent episode to foreshadow a metallo episode.

Metallo was this guy that became a machine, but he was created by Lex as a weapon against Superman, so he had like abilities that used Kryptonite and stuff like that. That's just how I remember it anyway. :)

Metallo was John Corben. Depending on whether you go by the animated series, or by the comics, his origin has some small variations. But the basic idea is this: he was a man, who was in an accident, and rebuilt with a kryptonite 'heart.' In other words, he was powered by kryptonite. In the animated series, he becomes insane when he realizes he'll never physically feel touch again.

But he is a supes enemy, and since he's powered by K, he's a tough on.

He would make a perfect FOTW since K is powering him. :) I'm not sure if it's a missed opportunity. I mean, they could have made one of the doctors Dr. Corben, and really gave fanboys something to chew on.

Maybe, if he's introduced in the future, they can reference Cyborg and that lab.

Actually, Lex only created Metallo in the animated series. In the comics, he was usually created by Emmet Vale, a professor who believed that Superman was the first of many Kryptonian invaders. His name was John Corben, and he was usually either a journalist, or some kind of con-man or assassin. After a car-crash, Vale transplanted his brain into a robotic body that was powered by Kryptonite. He could blast surges of the Kryptonite from his chest. :D

But as for the original topic, yes, this would have been the perfect set-up for Metallo. Although, if you ever get to a Superman show with this same cast(and I wish we would), a simple throwaway line from Lex like, "Remember that Victor Stone research" would suffice.

But for Lex to develop Metallo, wouldn't he have to know about "Superman" and his alergy to GreenK? Smallville Lex can't know that, "Superman" in the comic book sense probably won't exist until the last eppy and it would probably also be the last scene of that ep.

They've changed so many origins(including fellow heroes like the Flash) that they could just have Lex create him and use Kryponite because it is such a powerful substance...he's experimented on it before, like when he was trying to make fruit that wouldn't rot and ended up heating it and making a synthetic Black Kryptonite which split him in two...

They could do what ever they want with the origin of Metallo. I wouldn't mind because, though I like the character, his origin is one of the only comic book characters I really don't care about.

I mean in Lois and Clark wasn't he Lois' sister's fiance?

Another Lex creation: Bizzaro, that would make me happy.
