What do you think was the best crying scene?
What season?
What episode?
Who was it?
Why were they crying?

This season,Clark and Martha, in Vengeance, over Johnathans death. Hands down. You dont feel the same impact emotionally when its any other character crying . Especially because although clark may have shed a tear before he never actually sobbed like he did in vengeance. And Welling was awesome in that scene

I'll have to agree with you on that I think it was that saddest moment in the show:(

You know what Clex1115 - that same exact scene came into my mind when i read the question. I don't think it's just because it's the most recent, but because of the realness of Clark and Martha's grief. I cried along with them.
2nd place would go to Clark in Reckoning right after he found Lana at the car accident. Oh, wow, what a truly heartbreaking scene!

Your right about the 2nd moment to shadowcat. The look on his face and the blood on his hand and johnathan holding him backI could feel my heart breaking

5x13 "Vengeance" for sure.
Vegeance for me too. Or when Lana was crying when Whitney died in season 2 and Clark comforted her.

I'll be different here and say something besides Reckoning/Vengence: the scene from Accelerate where Lana is on the bridge with Emily. KK's response to Emily's question "didn't you try to save me?" gets me everytime. Although I'm not sure she shed actual tears...

Definitely Vengence. I'm always wanting to see the boy cry. He holds back his emotions so much. It was good to see it all come pouring out.

I would say the funeral scene in "Crush". That was more emotional than "Vengeance". It showed how Whitney and all the characters reacted to the death.
The episode that made me cry was when Ryan died. So, I'd have to say Ryan. That really got me choked up. Nothing is sadder than watching a child die.

The best crying scene was between Clark and Martha.
Season: 5
Episode: Vengeance
Who?: Tom Welling (and AOT)
That was truly the saddest moment in Smallville history. Their grief felt so real. I was in tears. Tom Welling did an outstanding job in this scene. Then again, he's been great all season.
Second place would go to Clark's reaction to Lana's death in "Reckoning" . From when the accident first took place to the FOS, was great. Tom did some fantastic work there as well.

Chloe when she tells clark she found her mother and she's in a mental hospital, i love the way chloe crys, she always tries so hard to fight them back trying to smile its so good.
But and as well seeing clark properly cry his heart out for once was really moving, and in reckoning when he doesn't exactly cry at first just the shocked looked on his face when he sees lana... so upsetting.

i agree with clex1115 because that was so passionate and heartfelt...you could really get into a scene like that....tom was defientely awesome and that line when jonathan was like "bye bye" definetly set the perfect..i dunno..tone i guess:p

This is my pick too. So moving. I cried so hard when he came in and Martha was watching the home video... :)
Also in Reconing before Jonathan's funeral when Martha cannot put the necklace on and she starts to cry. Heartbreaking!

Allison Mack is the best crier on Smallville! :D

Smallville has had some truly touching moments, but the only time I have ever cried was in Vengeance when Clark pours out his grief to Martha over his father's death. Like someone said, we never see Clark open up and it was the most emotional scene for me in all of Smallville's five seasons. I recall several commentators that are often critical of Smallville were themselves moved by the emotion of the scene.
Surprisingly, I have to say that Lana's grief after seeing Simone and Clark together in the loft is next on my list of best crying scenes. Normally I find Lana to be the most unconvincing cryer, but in that scene I really felt Lana's heartbreak and sadness.
I have to you agree with you ginnyfan, when Allison cries it seems heartfelt and real. I think she hasn't really cried since season four when she told Clark about finding her mother, which is a good thing. For a while there it was like Chloe was crying all of the time, and always about Clark. Even Allison mentions it in one interview, although I can't recall which.

For me, it was the last scene in Vengence. The emotion and the acting seemed so genuine, especially with the look in Clark's eyes as he was watching the home video. Also, the fact that the only dialogue in the scene was from Jonathan in the video gave it a more sad and lonely feeling because eventhough it was supposed to be during happier times when Clark was a child, it was as if it was meant for that moment in Clark and Martha's life, especially with the "bye-bye". It made it reality for his family left behind. I also agree with the scene in "Accelerate" between Lana and Emily on the bridge as sad . Kristin Kreuk did a good job of showing Lana's emotions when Emily asked her "didn't you try to save me?" It revealed another sad incident in Lana's childhood, losing her friend and there was nothing she could have done. Good acting in both scenes.

Another one that always sticks out to me is Allison's at the end of Calling.

ok my personal first was.... lana in the caves when she fins out whittney is dead... second goes to vengence when Clark and Martha grieve for the loss of Jonathan... and third... humm.... Clark crying in reckoning when he finds Lana's dead body....
does best scream count too?
it is every single time kristin screams/cries/shows emotion..for example....
KK in extinction...all the times in vessel... hidden...need i say more?

I have to go with the crowd and say Vengence, but there are lot of touching scenes. Although I find recently that I can be moved by just about any show I really like even something as silly as Who Wants to be a Superhero. I guess I get more invested in the chatacters now.

Yea, definitely agree. I actually got pretty teary-eyed after watching that the first time, which is a testament to Welling's great acting in that scene- it was so real.

What do you think was the best crying scene? - Clark and Martha speaking about events that just happened
What season? - 4
What episode? - Unsafe
Who was it? - Clark
Why were they crying? - Clark knowing the disappointment to his parents (specifically mom) after "marrying" Alicia, and also worried there's no one else out there for him.
That scene gets me everytime. The (every) teen angst portrayed by Clark(TW) is so good, feeling completely misunderstood and alone. He says Alicia makes him feel normal and special at the same time - isn't that what we all look for? And the only time I can remember Martha giving so little comfort to her son in his distress.
The vengeance scene too was good, but this one gets me more.

The only times I've actually cried in smallville were the Vengence ending, and the Reckoning funeral. Nobody in my family was crying and I turn around and I am bawling. I loved everyone's reaction in those scenes. My second and third choice is in Hidden with KK's reaction it was great and then clark's reaction when LAna dies.

I don't think I reacted to that one simply because I was in shock at how they'd killed Lana. It just seemed so sudden.

Same here! The scene between Clark and Martha in Vengence was definitely the most emotional for me! I didn't cry the first time I watched Reckoning because I was with a whole bunch of people. Plus, I knew it was going to be Jonathan that died so I was kind of expecting it. However, now every time I watch it cry. Even so, nothing can compare to Clark crying in Vengence. Amazing.
As for Lana in Hidden, I was expecting it to be WAY more emotional. She just shed a couple tears, had few fake sobs, and that was it! I've definitely seen KK cry better (i.e. The end of visage) That's the only thing I didn't like about Hidden. However, the end scene b/t Clark and Lana is awesome...I think she's crying there too.

Vengeance for me too...Clark is so stoic , so devoid of emotion so it was nice- in a sick, twisted way- to see the man sob.

I just watched Crush (Season 1 Episode 19) and I loved it... I really got choked up during the scene where Whitney's dad dies. I really think they thought season 5 was going to be the last season... It mirrors season 1 in a lot of ways. Whitney's dad's funeral was in the rain (wet Tom Welling yum) and Jonathan's was in the snow...
Anyway it was so sad. :(

well, you guys are right about the actual in-show crying scenes, but I know that I cried a lot when Martha was dying. Plus, I haven't seen Vengeance so I can't exactly relate.
But, yeah, when Martha was about to die, I was sooo sad. And it was kind of funny in a bad way because I didn't cry at all when Jonathan died... maybe it was because Martha's almost-death was slower and more dramatic.
I can't for the life of me remember the episode's name but I know it was Season 5.

These were the only times I have cried because of Smallville and I consider them the best crying scenes:
1. The end of Vengeance. That was just... Wow. I was sobbing by the end of that scene and I had to run to the bathroom so no one would ask me questions. Even then, I couldn't get myself together. That was by far the saddest scene I have ever seen on television.
2. The funeral scene in Reckoning. No one was actually crying in that scene, but the devistated looks on everyones faces combined with the music just broke me down. Very powerful scene.
3. Clark dying with Lana sobbing by his side in Hidden. I don't even like clana, but I couldn't help but cry during this scene. KK did great, imo.
Wow, all of these during season 5. There were a lot of sad moments.

Definately the final scene in "Vengeance." Tom Welling and Annette O'Toole were both great, and the scene was just so heartbreaking.

1. Reckoning the car crash scene and clark's inability to save her, is definately when i cried the hardest in any of the smallville episodes
2. Vengeance when clark finally lets go of his emotions and sobs because he misses jonathon
3. Hidden when Lana see's Clark die, and also when she finds out he's alive that's a really beautiful scene
