Well I'm actually translating the Glen Winter's interview for my french friends ( with only one finger also ;) ) and it seems really interesting! I would never have imagined all the difficulties to shoot on the FOS for example. This look behind the scenes is rich of teachings, and will probably makes me watch next episodes with a new light.

The "french Cheat"? I didn't know it ...it seems to be a lazy way of shooting and it makes me laughing because, well...that's true... French people, as me, are known to be a little lazy and well... I could not contradict that. So it's funny and it's such a well-founded expression!!

And thanks JoAnne for your compliment, it's very nice, you made me flushing!

Your welcome, Timousse. I didn't even know what the words "French Cheat," meant, but thanks for explaining what it meant, Timousse.
And more seriously, maybe this french technic is also due to the fact that our shooting's budget are not generally very important and the set is reduced to the strict minimum.

Please do not post full interviews or articles on here without the expressed permission from the people who wrote them. By posting the whole Glen Winter interview, that gives people less incentive to buy the magazine, and no one buying the magazine means no magazine for us at all... that wouldn't be fun. It could also get the site into trouble for posting others' copyrighted material.

I know the intentions were good but please don't do it again and just pick the magazine up :)

It was a great interview! I LOVE Glen, he seems like a cool guy.

I was sorry he said that he probably won't direct anymore after SV is over...

:(

But was anyone else as confused by Neil Bailey's article on Brainiac/Superman as I was?

What the hell was he talking about?

LOL!

I have no clue what the point of that thing was...

I can confirm that the magazine gets into Britain stores about a 3-4 weeks behind the U.S., so the current issue should be available in the U.K. sometime in mid-March. Also, although the contents are the same, Smallville Magazine was not published in Britain until the fourth or fifth edition, so the British versions have a different (lower) issue number.

I had a look on the site. The message about the next issue being #28 is next to a drop-down box that is defaulted to #28, but if you click the down arrow, you will see that it allows #27, #28 or #29 to be selected. My guess is that, given that #27 officially hits British newsstands on 5th March, subscriber copies may already have been sent out, so the site has defaulted to the next issue. Try using the "contact me" button to find out if Titan will send you #27 as your first issue if you subscribe.

It took a while for me to get my first issue.

It is odd that the new Magazine hasn't come out yet. I got the last one early. It's only been two days though. The magazine actually says the next issue will be on newsstands FROM April 21st. I guess that means it's not an exact date?

^yay!

Were there interviews with the AA and AM?

Yes! Allison's article is the first one in the magazine! She talks about directing and the developments with Chloe on the show. There are lots of lovely pictures from "Bride" and two from "Abyss" - one from the episode and one behind the scenes pic. Her comments on directing actually make me want to watch "Power" again. *sigh*

Aaron's is further back after a Season 8 secrets article. He talks about Jimmy Olsen's developments on the show. He talks about some horror films he's in.

I enjoyed both articles. :D

There are also articles about Costuming, the Legion and that cute blond guy from "Hothead" and "Bulletproof."

I could be wrong, but I don't think every show out there has a magazine of it's own. So if SV has budget issues right now, cutting out the magazine may be a smart choice.

As for season 9 being the last one, more than likely it will. :\

Hey everyone, I'm new to the site, but I needed some information on Smallville magazines, which I purchase every so often.

I recently found 3 back issues of #1, #2 and #3 with different covers than what I've seen on various sites, but haven't been able to find scans of these 3 ANYWHERE online. I know that Diamond has exclusive covers that is available in comic shops, but the #1 cover that I have doesn't match the either of the ones in the original press release.

Can anyone help? Are these the Diamond Exclusives, and if not...what are they? Here's my pic of the first three issues I'm asking about below. Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated :)

Those were the "Comic book store" editions of them, I believe. Released by Diamond Distributors. For some reason what was in the solicitations wasn't always necessarily what came out.

The mag not selling is a bummer. It's more of a bummer to me, though, that the companion books aren't selling well enough to keep going either *ahem*

I don't think it's just magazines that aren't selling. Newspapers have taken a huge hit these past couple of years as well. Many newspapers are putting their entire paper online (usually for a small subscription fee). A lot of the old-timers are complaining because they still like the "feel" having a newspaper in their hands as they read it, but hey, I guess it's just a sign of the times. I wonder if Smallville magazine could "survive" if it went to an all online edition. An electronic edition of some sort. I know Amazon Kindle is starting to gain in popularity. Just a thought. It wouldn't be ideal, but it'd be better than nothing.

I'm a noob to this site and all but ..I've honestly never even heard of TV show having it's own magazine. To me it's an odd concept of promoting the show and more like something that feeds the existing fanbase anyway. I can't imagine buying a magazine for a TV show if I weren't a huge fan.

If there WERE a proper promotional campaign going for the series the online presence alone would have to be amped up about 10,000%. As it stands this show is losing millions on both revenue and viewers not only because of it's lack of online presence as well as the highly mismanaged presence that they do have!

OT:It's honestly been one of my pet peeves for the last couple years. Someone somewhere is making a serious effort to keep the show from increasing viewership. It's so obvious to me and I can't understand how people who are losing millions of dollars in current and future revenues aren't looking around and taking a SERIOUS look at how mismanaged the show's marketing/advertising/promotion or whatever they call it in TVland is...

but that's another thread entirely...

If subscribers like me, subscribed to Smallville Magazine for years, and since they have canceled out Smallville Magazine, do you think that the Magazine will send me the last issues of Smallville Magazine? I know Craig said that there are only 2/3 more issues left, but do you think (hopefully) they'll send me the last issues of Smallville Magazine, even though my subscription has come to an end?

I wonder if they decided to cancel it before S9 was confirmed. Then again, I would think they would do at least another year. Maybe there will be a sci-fi magazine with stuff about SV in it.

Just a question: Did issue #32 come with a poster?

No, it came with a lot of interviews and pictures that go with the interviews.

Interviews of: Geoff Johns, Kevin Fair, Brian Peterson, Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer, Aaron Ashmore (with pictures of him), and the 3 actors that played The Legion.

As for Buffy and Charmed since there was a large fan base fans wanted to know what the stars were doing after the shows ended and behind the shows facts and interviews from the writers and directors ect.... the last charmed mag came out a year ago last september. buffy and angel both had their own mag until they combined for a year or so. then they too ran out of stuff to print.

i recieved a letter today to say the magazine is cancelled and that i have five issues of my subscription left and to either choose a different magazine or get a refund. However it said it is to stop at issue 30 and i only just recieved 28 a while ago, when i asked on the phone if i was to recieve these with my subscription i was told no...which i think is a bit mad? if two more issues are being made, why cant subscribers be sent them? I am gutted its cancelled have spent a long time and money collecting them before i was a subscriber and its gone am gutted :(

Oh! I so agree with you, it seems the the CW doesn't know how to promote SV or SN at all.

Take Care,

Jack

I got the Smallville Magazine 'Villians' issue from Hastings this Afternoon, the 2nd before last issue, and most of the news isn't new if you've been near a computer (of course the daily planet section has always been like this)...

But what makes the issue for me is this is like a farewell letter to fans from Sam Witwer/Davis Bloome

For those of you who wanted Sam Witwer to stick around for Season 9
but your hopes where taken away during (of course) the unconventional Doomsday finale..when his road for redemption and a second chance took a turn to him becoming a murderer and etc.

Well, he gives an interview set to unseen Davis Bloome promo photos and his interview ends on a sorta Thanks to the Fans who liked Davis Bloome..

I loved Davis

In The FINAL ISSUE :\...

It states they will talk about Clark Kent

An interview with major ZOD (Callum Blue)

They will also interview Sexy Erica Durance :p & Bewitching Zatanna Serinda Swan

They still do magazines for Heroes, Stargate, and Supernatural.

It does seem also that Titan stopped the business of doing companion books which is a big bummer to me. I don't think there's a Supernatural Season 4 companion and the 24 companion books seem done for. I really, really wanted to do Smallville for Season 8 and beyond. It could be their licensing deal with DC was up entirely, which meant the end of the mag too.

Wow! My Smallville Magazine just came in. Thanks, Smallville Magazine!

It has some nice articles:

It has an interview with Brian Peterson, a nice article of Doomsday (Sam Witwer), an article about the actor who played Doomsday, a poster of Cassidy Freeman and Sam Witwer, an article about Cassidy Freeman's Tess Mercer, Bryan Cairns talks to Jessica Parker Kennedy and Brendan Fletcher, Supervising sound editor Michael Lawshe talks about sound effects, and the Toyman (Chris Gauthier) talks about the show.

The weird thing is that it was raining really hard, and my Smallville Magazine didn't even get wet. I'm so excited, I'm going to sit down and read Smallville Magazine!

It's just too bad that you can't publish anymore Season Smallville books. I was really looking forward to buying Season 8 & Season 9. They may have been a big seller since Lois & Clark are very popular on the show. Lois Lane was really popular during Season 8!

Also, Season 9 is exciting, and it's just too bad that we won't be having Smallville Magazine around anymore. I was looking forward to pictures of Tom Welling during the 9th Season. I love Tom's new look: his haircut & the new Blur look!

I also received my mag today, the only thing I am disappointed in I don't remember having read an interview with Tom, you would think that since Smallville is about Clark Kent and Tom is the star of the show the Mag would try to get an interview with him, especially when they knew they were going to stop publishing. Hopefully there will be something after the show ends. Haven't there been cases where magazines last even after the series? I could have sworn Angel and Buffy got magazines after the series ended, then Buffy got a season 8 with a comic. Angel also got a season 6 through a comic.

I miss this magazine. I used to get it when I went to the bookstore. Matter of fact, I sometimes still look for it. Then I have to remind myself that it's not being published anymore.

Most of my favorite magazines are gone now. We lost Starlog awhile back then I just found out that Wizard Magazine is online only! It's too bad because with all the great comicbook movies coming out recently, and in the future, Wizard would've been even bigger than it already was.

BlueRanger that is a great question! What the heck happened to Smallville Magazine? I just remember them saying they were shutting down but the show was still going strong. Was it the economy like with Starlog and Wizard?

I think a lot of it was that Titan, the publisher, had to pay DC Comics/Warner Bros. for the license. Since sales weren't good enough (for the magazine OR the books), I guess they didn't find it financially feasible to continue... :(
