I really dont think they sold out. i think that the term "sold out" is pointless. Bands are gonna change, and they are gonna get big if they are really good. It's no big deal.

You obviously don't understand what green day did then. The did sell out in every term of the word, they went from being a great punk band to just another fake punk rock band.

I like them. They're good musicians, and their songs are very good, nice mix or emotional words and music.

And it doesn't matter if they 'sold out' or went from 'real punk' to 'fake punk' at all. As long as their music is good, then I don't care.

Personally i have to say Dookie is the best album of theirs. Has anyone ever relaized on the last track theres a hidden song? Listen to the last track of dookie and then like a minute after its over it still plays and counts on the stereo and then billie joe comes in with this stupid voice its really funny its like...

I was all by my self, no one was loookkking I was all by myself. Its really funny.

Umm.... Meredith... You see, darling, when I told you to inject your personality into your posts, I didn't exactly mean... like this.

Meredith, Katrina, and I are forever turned against Green Day because that's Ew's favorite band, and he's SUPER OBSESSED with them, so the small amounts of love we might have had for them are squashed. I used to like a few (FEW!) of their songs, but now I can't listen to them at all. :rotfl: All because of Ew!

But yeah, BJ is a terrible singer, and they're hideous.

I'm not even sure what it's called... I heard it on the radio early June, didn't catch the name, but the guy said it was something new by Green Day. Sounded very ballad-like and very acoustic. Dunno, maybe it was the Lennon song.

Most of Lennon's post-Beatles stuff is utter crap though. I laughed when I read that article where he said that "the Beatles did nothing for me... I achieved a lot more since the broke up" or something like that... :eek: :lol:

And about Green Day selling out, yeah maybe they did, but only in the sense that they changed their music style to something more commonly accepted. Usually I'd look down on a band that'd do something like that (like the new Fall Out Boy *where's the puking smilie when u need it?) but Green Day pulled it off with flying colors. They might not be the "great punk band" they used to be, but they definitely showed a whole lot of talent with their new CD. It's more complicated, from a musical viewpoint, than anything they've written so far. Not to mention catchy as hell :rolleyes: . So I don't understand all the hating. Just cause a band changes, doesn't mean the change is bad.
