To be honest, I am kind of surprised that there wasn't a Married with Children thread already made. In my opinion, it is one of the best shows to ever be put on TV. It was the first show to really push the envelope and concentrate on how people really thought. This show went on for 11 years, and was great the entire time. I was sad to see it go. It is the only show besides Wings that made me laugh every episode.

My favorite character of the show is definately Bud. In the first two seasons before he went after girls, he was a bigtime trouble maker and reminded me a lot of Bart Simpson. Then his character got even better when he started going after women. Watching him always get shut down was priceless, and the scenes with his blow up doll "Isis" were classic. Al is a working class hero, and is one of the best characters of all time. Marcy's two husbands Steve and Jefferson were also great. Some of the best moments would come from the endless feud between Al and Marcy.

My favorite episodes were probably the three that took place in England. Two other classic episodes were - Bud working for the Virgin Hotline, and the episode where Vanna White plays Al's old girlfriend, and offers him $500,000 to dump Peggy and sleep with her.

My two favorite segments of all time :

Bud : " Hey Kel, why don't you tell dad about the time you were in that van with the bumper sticker " If this van's a rockin', don't come a knockin' ".

Kelly : " Hey, that can be taken more than one way"

Bud : " Yeah... and so can you"

Buck the Dog : " Hey honey, how you doin'?"

French Poodle : " Buck, how could you have forgotten me?"

Buck the Dog : " Oh I'm sorry sweetheart, I have never seen you from the front before".

I remember the controversy 'Married With Children" caused when it first began to air. My friends mother refused to let us watch it, and I remember one night after a sleepover, my friend and I snuck downstairs and watched it for the first time. I was like, "What is all this hubbub all about? This show sucks."

'Married With Children' is tolerable today, but I still dislike and find it stupid. :D

its one of those shows where you hate to love it. You watch it but you're not really sure why.

I thought I would resurrect this thread to see if anyone else loves this show. Even though I have seen every episode, I still love to go back and rewatch the DVD's. I am watching S8 on DVD right now and the show still manages to crack me up.

One question. If sex with Al is so bad, why does Peggy constantly beg him for sex every episode? I mean, all she does for the whole series is insult Al in the bedroom, but she will beg him for it all the time. Al must be doing something right if she has remained faithful all those years and she constantly begs him for sex.

I wish they had the real theme song on the DVD's. That alone kind of ruins them for me :(

Yeah but Craig, aren't you getting the DVD's for the episodes themselves? In all honesty, I have no interest in watching the opening credits, original theme song or not. I just skip to the next chapter when the episode starts. From what I remember, the episodes themselves are the original broadcast versions, so at least they are uncut. I hate it when DVD sets offer the syndicated versions of episodes.

Some of my favorite quotes:

The Bundy Creedo as per Al: "Hooters, hooters, yum yum yum. Hooters, hooters, on a girl that's dumb."

Al: Bud, are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Bud: Luscious hooters?
Al: No. That's what I should have been thinking about, but no.

Jefferson: You're a Bundy and if you put a D where the N is, you're a buddy.
Al: And if you put an N where the D is, I'm a bunny. What's your point?

Steve: Al, you realize that tampering with your kids' dental records is against the law.
Al: So is dressing up a chicken and calling it your wife.

Bud: Parents love their children no matter what they do.
Al: Damn you, Kelly. You ate my last Hershey's Kiss. You're in the will.
Kelly: NO, DAD. NO.

Al: My country would never rule against me.
Bud: Dad, they ruled against you.
Al: Damn George Washington. I wish he was dead.

Al: Bud, if you need money, you should do what a wise man once said. "Yip-ip-ip-ip-ip, mu-mu-mu-mu-mu-mu- Get a job."
