Wasn't there supposed to be some deputy or smallville police officer that was going to be a arc love interest for Lois?...what the heck happened to that story line? I was waiting for it to come in and save the episode!

I was hoping and praying they dropped that plot line and it looks like it was (probably due to time). I say that's great news. Who needs another Lois flash in the pan romance? We already had that with Aqua and we really don't need another one.
Do we really need Lois to fall in love every two or three episodes?
What would that say for her future romance with Superman/Clark if she falls in love at the drop of a hat? It would have only been yet another chance for them to show Clark being jealous and they already shoved that in our face plenty of times with the Aqua episode (and I think Clark was indeed a little jealous).
The jealous bit had already been done and I am very glad that they dropped that. I'm sick of the rehash and back and forth.
We've had enough of that with the Clana relationship.

Infuse? Naw I think it was fine just the way it was.
Not the best episode but it was light years ahead of most season 4 episodes. Allison really shined in this episode and I enjoyed the Clois as well. Glad they kept the Clana angst to a minimum.
All in all, I think it was a good episode.:D

to each his own. I think it was the worst of the season so far (tied with Fanatic). I actually enjoyed alot of season 4. about half the episodes were no good (which isnt a good ratio I know) but the half that was good, was really good IMO.
My main gripe with it besides the fact that the continuity in the torture scene to the end was and everything in it was pretty badly handled...was that it's an episode with a REAL issue that happens in real life, and clark did ZIP to help with it. He was barely in it. I want to feel like Clark can save the day always, not just if it 'really couldnt happen'
this is why a Lois love interest, or just an intro to a new character arc could have made this more interesting for me

Well, Lois didn't fall in love with A.C., she just liked the guy.
And I think the whole purpose of the love interest was to bring Dean Cain into one of the eps, so Clois and FoLC would all go crazy at the amalgam/Crossover moment, but apparently Mr. Cain couldn't make it.

This ep was great due to the superior efforts of Allison Mack. But I did miss Clark who really appeared far too little for no reason I can see. Lois? SHe was good when held captive but her part was superfluous as usual. THe ep would have been the same without her and with Chloe the sole captive.

Chloe is the one who needs a boyfriend. She only kissed Mikhail against her will in S4, and that was it. Maybe she is secretly dating Pete. That would be cool.

Lois had a new boyfriend (fiance) in almost every issue of her old comic book back in the Silver Age. It was insane. Somebody even joked that the reason our divorce rates skyrocketed was becuase Lois Lane was getting married all the time in the 60's!

In all fairness Clark wasn't nice back then. He was always trying to marry her to gorillas or aliens, cutting of her air supply in space...things like that to teach her lessons.
As for the show, Erica's character has always felt a bit forced. When she first appeared last season, it seems the writers put her under great pressure to assert herself as if she's been there all along, which just didnt' fly. They didn't transition her in smoothly enough, to let her acting talent play fof the characters but seem rather odd and out of place. Kind of tough to explain, but I think that's why Lois just didn't strike fans too well at first.
As time has progressed, I believe Durance has shown to be a great actress and their is great potential for Lois' character. The writers perhaps need to focus on her more than Lana in coming episodes for such to be appreciated.
