Clark takes his true first steps to becoming Superman in "Tomb."

Here's my reasoning. Up until "Tomb", Clark very frequently found himself seeking the advice of his friends and his loved ones, namely his dad, Jonathon. However in this particular episode, it seems that HE is the one giving advice this time around.

as Jor-el himself said, "the Universe will find a balance."

or if you want to quote the Donner film, "The Son becomes the Father"

I don't really think that was his first step in becoming superman. I think he was just trying to be there for a friend in need.

I'm just glad that we got Clark using his brain for once like Chloe to put the pieces together. Investigating at the DP by himself. OK he did get the crap kicked out of him by an orderly (kryptonite induced ok, ok), but at least he tried to solve wth was happening with his real 'big brain" this time.
