Gabe's been MIA since the beginning of S4. (the writers suck)

I'm guessing he's on "vacation" with Nell, Lucas and Lucy but I'm sure Lois sent and e-mail though.

At least it isn't another "Where Was Pete" thread!

Maybe Gabe doesn't live in Smallville anymore. With Chloe living in Metropolis and all, perhaps he moved somewhere else.

idk but it annoyed me that he wasn't there. my friend kept saying he is dead! he died!

but he isn't dead, him and chloe were gonna run the talan.

sheesh Gabe! We had an appearance from your wife, but not you!!!

Lois moved to the Kents last season because Chloe and Gabe were living on one bedroom apartment. That was the last time we heard about him. Yet, Chloe goes nuts and tries to kill herself and LANA (not even Lois, who just happens to be her cousin) of all persons is now responsible for Chloe? We aren't idiots, AlMiles.

This was such a prepostorous gaff...really unforgivable. Are we to assume Lana and Lex are Chloe's legal guardians? NOT!

This ep was an acting tour de force for Allison Mack though.

It seems they just decided to leave him out of the storylines, even though it would of made more sense to have him at the hospital making the decision of what to do with Chloe.:\

At the least they could of made a mention like Lois saying 'Well it ried to call my Uncle Gabe and....' just you know mention that he is still around somewhere and still cares

It's just lazy arse writing. The actor might not be available to to shoot a scene but they should at least give the character a mention.

I agree no Dad,no health proxy, let's have non relatives or cousins make medical discissions., cause Smallville fans won't notice, this can't possibly happen .

Lana tells Lex she thinks Chloe needs help; Lex tries to have her moved to Belle Reeve. Sure, neither of them are her legal guardian, but you have to look at it this way – we’re talking about Lex friggin’ Luthor. Am I the only one who remembers that he’s capable of just about anything? Let’s not forget that he just sidestepped a coup by his dad last week. Two years ago he could hardly hold his head up when Lionel did something to undermine him.

Chloe is an adult at this point as well. No need to rush out and get Gabe, and who knows? Maybe the cat that played Gabe didn’t want to come back, so they just didn’t mention him at all? Margot Kidder got the same basic treatment – they wrote her out faster than Henry Small.

Liriel
02-10-2006, 06:51 AM
Yes, and it's bad writing. Chloe is an adult now, so tossing in a line about Gabe getting a job in San Francisco would solve the problem of his non-appearance whenever something happens to her basically from here on out.

I’ve seen worse writing in my time. Hell, even with it’s weaknesses, last night’s episode was still better than most of the nonsense in season 4.

Maybe the writers just don't care to mention Gabe. I will admit, it never even occured to me to think about him during last night's episode.

Iowa_Gent

That is what I was trying to figure why was Lana and Lex deciding what was best for Chloe when her Dad or Lois should be the people deciding this. They are family.

Lana took it upon herself because she and Chloe are (were) close friends, Lex was just trying to please Lana. Lex has a LOT of power, I'm sure he could have Chloe put away without anyone ever knowing about it, Gabe included.

Gabe was at the local aquarium talking with all the other people that have mysteriously been forgotten on Smallville.

While he was there, he found and started to hook up with Nell Potter, who divorced Dean after he ran off with Desiree Atkins and she never saw him again since.

Nell and Gabe were engaged to be married on the day of Chloe's graduation (which is why he wasn't there) until Lucas Luthor came along and the cougar that Nell is, ran away to hunt him down like prey.

Gabe was very sad, until he was hit by Lois' car on Lois' way to the airport to go find her sister in Europe. The car accident caused head trauma and Gabe got amnesia, so he unintentionally forgot all about Chloe. After spending a few weeks recover Gabe was scooped up by the FBI and assigned the job to go and help protect a military base in New Mexico.

Gabe now works at Area 51.

FBI: "Warning! Warning! You are revealing detailed information about a strictly confident personnel of Area 51, you must delete this post you have ten seconds to comply."

FBI: "You did not comply. All the information about your life even what you just ate for dinner this evening has been sent to the FBI offices. FBI officers will be coming by your house to take you away and destroy all of your belongings. You there will be no record that you ever existed."

FBI: Now disconnecting Lana_Lang #1/Kristin from the internet.

TARDIS Team, Margot Kidder was written off the show because she refused to appear after Christopher Reeve died, feeling the necessary acknowledgement of his character's death would feel like exploiting the death of a real life dear friend.

But yeah, Gabe and Mr. Small definitely need some passing mentions at least.

You know, all they need to do to fix this sort of thing is hire me as the continuity guy for the writing team. Seriously, if they have just one measly person who's at least watched the series, most of these problems would disappear.

Plus, can you imagine how cool this job would be?

Continuity Guy: Sorry, man, but you really should mention Pete here.

Writer #1: Pete? Pete who?

CG: You know, Pete? Clark's best friend?

Writer #2: Oh, you mean Chloe, right?

W#1: Oh, yeah, Chloe. Yeah, I know who Chloe is!

CG: No, not Chloe. Pete. PETE! He was Clark's best friend until season 3 when you idiots wrote him off of the show.

W #1: Clark's best friend until season 3... wasn't that Lex?

W #2: Yup, definitely Lex. Silly continuity guy; we didn't write him off of the show, we just lightswitched him to become evil!

CG: NO, NOT LEX!!! I'm talking about Pete! Pete Ross? He played football, had a crush on Chloe, found Clark's spaceship... is any of this ringing any bells at all?

W #1: I don't know any Pete.

W #2: No, not so much.

CG: You don't even remember Pete? He was the only black regular character on the show.

W #1: Wasn't that the guy off of Jitters?

W #2: I don't know, but here's an idea - we bring back Morgan Edge, but this time, HE'S black! Oh man, that would be so funny! We'll call it a 'light episode', fans will love it!

CG: I quit.

Is the special effects and cast salary so high that we cannot afford Chloe's mom face, and Chloe's dad reocurring , even by phone.

I vote to cut down on special effects in the interest of good plot.

SuperVan
02-13-2006, 03:25 PM
Why are people so hung up that we did not get to see Chloe's mom's face? I like the fact that we were left in the dark as to her facial expression. Was it happy? Sad? Supprised? Blank? Did she even recognize who Chloe Was?

It is better left to the viewer to decide. Showing her face would not add anything other than disapointment.

On the other hand, I think that the special effects do add to telling a good story. It is better than watching Clark mop around all day. An example would be when Clark stopped the nuclear warhead or when he goes to the FOS. Those all contribute to good storytelling.

Why are people so hung up on Pete not being mentioned? There are FAR MORE IMPORTANT people who haven't been brought back.

Like why wasn't Martha's Dad at Jonathan's funeral? Why hasn't Nell or Henry Small checked up on Lana lately?

Pete (a friend) being forgotten isn't as important as your own father in law missing your funeral or your foster parents not caring that your stuck in another meteor shower.

Smallville needs to appoint a continuity czar who will watch the entire show (plus the Chloe Chronicles) from season 1 to the present and will be able to spot faults in continuity in a given script (or opportunities to SHOW continuity, even better).

Haha, I feel sorry for Al/Miles now, at first I thought they were making a few lazy mistakes under stress or something, but it didn't take look to convince me they plain SUCK at continuity.

Oh well, nothing we can do, I'll refrain from having a go at there poor efforts with continuity, it's like having a go at a conference division football player because he isn't good enough to play in the Premiership.

You're hired! (If I had the authority anyway). Hehehe

Although you may want to quit your first day of work because of all the problems you would encounter. But seriously, continuity has much improved this season (of course there is always room for improvement on the show), and I think that it has contributed greatly to the success of season 5. Many people came back and it seems we picked up a few new ones too! So with all the joking I am doing in this thread I want to give credit where credit is due as well as criticize when continuity falls short.:)

Technically, this is one of the roles AlMiles are supposed to fill. As producers, they oversee the season as a whole. However, since they've been sitting on their thumbs and now are all worked up about Aquaman (is any one going to tell them that that's a joke?), they really need someone more than ever. They need me. I'll volunteer. I'll do it for free.

Gabe, Henry Small, Grandfather Willowbrook and Lucas Luthor are criss-crossing the globe digging into the untold mysteries of Isobel Thoreaux, the Luthor link to the adoption/corn factory conspiracy ... and why-the-heck youth-sucking cheerleader Crissy did what she did.

Or, they could subcontract Mxytlpltk to do consulting research on those, while they sip fruit smoothies on that tropical island Lex "disappeared" on a few seasons ago.

While I'm not expecting Gabe to become a supporting character, wouldn't it make sense that Chloe would bring up her father during normal conversation? The same goes for Lana and Aunt Nell. It's like no one other than Clark gives a flying Kryptonian about their blood relatives.

Gabe, Lucas, Henry Small, what-corn-factory? ... some things stay the same on Smallville.

well, he can't be in smallville or metropolis. cause if he were in smallville, i think chloe might have been a little concered about him when the meteor shower came down. (well, i wouldn't for a father that abodons me) and not mertopolis, or chloe would be visiting him all the time (since she lives in metropolis. its very obvious, just like loisluvr_72 said, hes taking shelby for a really long walk......across the world?
