I think the only reason the line worked is because it was more Tom than Clark. The line was pretty funny and caught me off guard as it occured when I was not expecting it.

As a side note, is it really that hard for Clark to believe Chloe just once when she says something? You'd think after everything they've been through Clark would give her the benefit of the doubt.

I agree Nospam. The line was funny, but to step away and sort of examine it, Man, Clark was sort of being jerky to not believe her after the willing suspension of disbelief she's offered him on things odder than a corpse in a wall. Sigh... :\ Sometimes I kinda wish Chloe would slug him.

I think he did believe her, at least to a certain extent. Otherwise, I'm not sure he would have gone to the extreme of breaking her out of the hospital.

Yeah, but that's just their dynamic. It's kind of a staple of the show. XFiles was incredibly guilty of the same thing...but it's one of those things that just wouldn't work if you changed it.

That's what makes Lois right for him. She slugs him in the arm at least once every other episode. You have to keep him in check, that's the key. ;)

I loved the line and expression too. Fine acting.
