I guess when you start the show w/ a shower scene and graphic slit wrists you'd need that parental advisory warning
I thought it was kinda cool
Reminds me of Stir of Echos

Well first off the writers screwed up, slitting your wrists like that is the wrong way to do it. If you're going to slit them make the slices verticle!

And how exactly do you slit both? Wouldnt you be in way too much pain after cutting 1?

 thats true, but most people dont slit their wrists like that, its more of a "look im cutting myself, I need help" or to relive some sort of stress

Usually, TV programs dont want to show the kids watching it how to really cut their wrists. Most shows portray it the way smallville did.

You notice that they never gave us a clear explanation as to WHY Chloe slit her wrists? What gives?

I think that Gretchin made her do it didn't she?

Ya know muffinpeddler, that is a darn good question, one which will never be answered!

I thought it was becuase they showed Gretchin with slit wrists so she made Chole do it to feel her pain.

But she wasn't possessed yet!

chloe didnt slit her wrists it happened when the ghost conected with her. not went into her body but started to use the phsycic connection with her. kind of like this past weeks supernatural where the telekentik kid was linked to sams visions

I got to be honest, slit wrists totally 100% no point to the episode. She could cut Chloe's wrists, but could not touch the murderer while she was in etheral form. I mean he was in the hospital and the ghost never touched the bad nurse guy, but cut Chloe the first day was in. Bad Writers , Bad, you are grounded. Seriously you are grounded writers.

The whole wrist thing was just a writing tool to get her in the hospital. They didn't even try to make it make sense!

Yet she seems to be on Chloe's side.
It's ironic that Allison Mack's character, Chloe was shown with slit wrists because Allison played a similar character on 7th Heaven who was a "cutter" and I think she slit her wrists too.

Her wrists were cut to make a connection between Gretchen and Chloe, I think... Sort of a pre-taste of what was to come.
A better reason just might be because the writers needed some excuse to put Chloe in the hospital so the orderly could find out about her.
And yes, the "7th Heaven" connection was strangely amusing.
And the lethal way to slit wrists is "down the street, not across the road."

Remember, they have to make the show an hour long. If Gretchen attacked the guy in the hospital, everything else would have been shot and then the episode would make even less sense.
And I really think that the slit wrists scene was just an excuse for a dramatic cliffhanger.
I'd still like to know, though, why they put a parental advisory warning on it. It didn't seem that graphic to me.
And I think the ending was a bit rushed. The whole storyline needed alot more depth and explanations about the characters and the motives, etc.
But, like I said, the show's only an hour and with fifteen or twenty minutes in there of commercials, it's probably a bit hard to fit all of that in there.
Ah, who knows.

ok...wow.. i was almost in tears crying, i guess i should have payed more attention to spoilers and warnings...like zod said, its a really touchy subject for me too.
the person(sorry forgot your username) who said that it was an attention thing is not completely wrong... but not entirely right either. yes some people do it for attention but others its a coping method,.
but yeah an OK episode not one of the best... i think ill only end up watching it this time and recording over it

What about the about of time when Chloe screamed and when Lois saw chole and her cut wrists?
In my opinion there was no way Chloe could have done it in that short amount of time....so in some spiritual way Gretchen must had some kind of powers or something that ended with Chloes wrist cut.

I never got the impression that Chloe actually cut herself, it was just the possession of the spirit and her pain that manafested itself into Chloe. And hey, she said she's a writer....she'd have left a great note first if she really did it, right?

I should have clarified in my interpretation of why the wrists were cut. It was pre-possession Chloe, so Chloe's own hands did not cut herself. My guess is that the spirit was released by the electricity, and some of the electricity rubbed off on Chloe... When the two came face to face, it may have been a pre-possession sort of half-bond......... The slits appeared on their own-- by neither Gretchen's nor Chloe's hands-- along the same lines of Gretchen's sudden appearance and bond with Chloe. They were just a foretaste of the possession to come.

There are stories about mediums who end up with the same injuries or illnesses as the spirits they contact. (If you believe in that sort of thing.) It's not that the ghost was trying to hurt them. It's just that the connection seems to be physical as well as mental, so the medium exhibits the "symptoms".
That's what I assumed happened here. I never thought Chloe or Gretchen cut Chloe's wrists. It was just a side effect of the first contact.

the first thought in my mind, like so many others, was: She's cutting the wrong way... How do we know this? how come so many people know how to slit your wrist so you die??

Because it's been brought up in a lot of movies and on a lot of TV shows. In fact, they made a big deal of it in The Craft, if I recall.
Still, there are a lot of people who don't know the "right" way to do it. So, when someone in a movie or TV show does it the "wrong" way, I just assume they were one of the people who didn't know.

Hint the viewer discreation advised.
but, i have a question...well kinda. but.....
remeber how when Gretchan possessed Michael and he was saying "Gretchan, Gretchan what are you doing?" well this proves that when Chloe was "possessed" it means that she wasn't really all the way possessed. she knew what was going on and couldn't do anything about it, and she had the knowledge of what Gretchan knew. just like when Micheal went after Clark, Chloe jumped. That was the real Chloe trying to say "do something, don't let him touch Clark" because she loves him. so Gretchan found a way to distract him by saying all that Mikey stuff. which, leads me to the question.....all the pain that Gretchan was feeling, was actaully Chloes, right, not actually Gretchans. So, this means that Chloes is putting up with alot more stuff than regular girls can handle at a time like this. i mean, keeping secrets, school, the daily planet, "caring for people" (as clark put it), making sure nothing happens to anyone..... and so on.
so, is that ^ true? did anyone else get that impression?
