1. Clark proposes to Lana in previews.
2. Rumors of death of major character(s).
3. The 100th episode, thinking it would be a well budgeted episode with FX.
4. Rumors that Lana would be revived and LEXANA would start due to secrets.
5. If JK dies, MIONEL will start up.
Others?

I tuned in because I wanted to see if the writers would finally give us something that would majorly change the direction of the show, and I was also curious which major character would be killed off, although I was pretty sure it would be Johnathan. The remark by Clark about always needing his father at the beginning of the episode, pretty much confirmed it going in.
Unfortunately with the acception of JK's death, nothing else happened. In fact, JK's death came off as being a meaningless one in my opinion because nothing else changed. In the end, Clark ultimately chose Lana over his father, so it would have been cool if they at least made it seem like it was somewhat justified by having Lana walk away still knowing the truth. They should have had Clark tell Lana the truth on the second time around, and just use his knowledge of the accident to keep her alive. Her being in danger from knowing the secret did not stop him from telling her the first time around.

I already read the spoilers and believed them, so I already knew about the lana dying, time reversal, jk dying thing. I had already gotten past my disappointment before watching the episode. So I tuned in to see how they would handle jonathon's death.
 jonathon didn't get enough scenes, there weren't any pivotal lex/lionel or clark/lex or clark/jonathon scenes. All I got was a clana show. For an episode that was supposed to change the direction of the show, you'd think they would give lex and jonathon more emphasis, the two who help to shape Clark.

I watched it because I watched the whole season so far, but I was more exited about this one because of the announce of the major death, I couldn't wait to see who and how.... I think that the death was lame though, could of been better.

I tuned in because it's Smallville; I would've watched it regardless of any information leaked. I was pleased that the first half hour was indeed "everything I wanted to see" (Clark growing up, sharing the secret, Lana dying), and then mortified that the last half hour was exactly everything I didn't want to see (Lana coming back to life, JK dying not for Clark, but for Lana, Lexana).
It's probably as close as I've come to giving up on Smallville. But then I whacked my head on my wardrobe and came to my senses. :p

Well, I've seen every episode of the show so far, it was just another day's work for me...
Of course, all the teasers didn't hurt ;)

I watched it because I am a long time Smallville fan, as well as a long time Superman fan. I've been collecting comics since the worst day in comic history, Superman #75.

I watched because I love the show. But I really looked forward to this episode because I thought Chloe "The Stalker" Sullivan was going to be the one to get knocked off.

US Shows always make a big thing in their 100th episode of the series and Smallville didn't disappoint. It had nearly everything but they could have showed more. Hopefully the deleted scenes (if there are any) are placed in the DVD boxset.

It was a new Smallville episode. Do I need anymore reason to tune in?;)
The first 30 minutes was great. The next 30 minutes I hardly remember because I was ticked off about the lame time reversal crap.

I tuned in because I watch every episode.
But if something did spark my interest, it would be the character death.

I have been writing what a bad episode this was for YEARS and I was mistaken(never wrong just ask my wife). I view season 5 every time I want to see what was GREAT about SV and in the same season what was TERRIBLE. How does a show lose over 2 million viewers in a couple of months. LEXANA.
IMHO, SV wasted almost two years with the Lex and Lana crap. The few fans it appeased was not reason enough to totally junk Clana which had finally seemed to make those fans happy. Look at the ratings for Mortal, Hidden, and Aqua. ON FIRE. Look at the numbers for post Reckoning, from 6 mil to under 4 million. There are of course other reasons, like awful stories, VOID, FRAGILE, MERCY, FADE, HYNOTIC, and so on but the underlying theme was Lexana.
I will still watch season 5 thru Reckoning (really loved it up until Lana's death) but the rest of the season should be burned. It makes the season 4 stones arc and season 3's Dead Man Walking Adam arc seem like Shakespeare.

I tuned in because it's Smallville but I really wanted Lana to be knocked off. Really happy until Clark brought her back to life and Jonathan died instead. If you can imagine a 10 year old running around her house yelling "Clark Kent you suck." for about an hour.
