Chloe Sullivan, reporter from the Daily Planet, agonizing over what to call the new mysterious hero in Metropolis
She decides upon Angel of Vengeance
I think her cousin does a better job when she gets the chance, no?

i am not sure if it is the biggest reference but Lois does a better job IMHO.
AoV: "Hi I am the Angel OF Vengence"
bad guy: "wait I thought you were the Vengencing Angel"
AoV: "no no, she is on vacation"

Actually that was a great Chlois anvil, as Chloe used the name Super Boy in S1, and was not only collecting info on this mysterious hero, she wanted the first interview.
Chloe was the first to use the term Super, and will probably do it again. Cause you know, practice makes perfect.

I thought it was Jonathan at the end saying "The Man of Steel! Look at him!"

:D definitely
but as others have said, JK got the best one. "Man Of Steel"
I think the name totally sucked. Angel of Vengence? Now I know for sure Chloe isn't Lois. Lois is much better in coming up with names.

I also thought it was clever to throw in the changing in the phone booth line when the angel of vengeance comes out right when clark was walking by.

I think "The Man of Stee!" at the most emotional end of this season

Especilaly since Clark had called Jonathan "man of steel" in an earlier episode.

Actually that would be just like Lana Lang, who dubbed Clark "Superboy" in the comics ;)

Yep and even more for me it was Chloe summimg up AOV as a mild manner reporter by day and crimefighter at night and asking Clark if he could do that. :)

Yeah the 'Man of Steele' comment was the biggest reference for me. It made me emotional for some reason to hear Jonathan say that.

Yeah it was ver emotional to know that in a way Pa Kent, as he is mention on the comics, accepted and enjoyed his son's destiy, and a great goodbye. Even tough kryptonians go to a a sort of different heaven as humans I think Clark can figure see him again, cause if you guys don't know CLark has a son with Wonder Woman in the future and that son is capable of traveling trough alternate times, not juts past present and future, so with a litle help form his son, well you know.

Actually Clark referred to his father as "The Man of Steel" and that he couldn't go on without him, way back in S2 I believe when Pa Kent needed heart surgery I believe.

I thought of that, too. Now I think of it as something Jonathan had always called Clark, and so Clark picked it up and said the same thing about his dad. I'm sure the writers didn't plan it that way, but it's sweet that they used it in the final scene.
