It's time for the Prom, and a girl named Dawn Stiles wants desperately to be Prom Queen - even if it means entering the body of someone else.

This is my favorite episode, ever! Everyone did a really good job of acting like Dawn Stiles(sp) Lana's line 'nobody dumps dawn stiles' or something like that was excellently exicuted. And Clark as Dawn Stiles was just hilarious. And the most excellent scene of all (not just on smallville, that includes all shows ever) Martha rockin' out, dancing to Ashley Simpson's La La then hitting on her own son. Just brilliant *clap clap* :P

this another one of my favorite season 4 episodes! the Dawn Stiles character was funny and when she was in Clarks body it was hilarious! Tom Welling did great with acting in that scene!
Allison Mack did great as well! everyone possessed by Dawn did great with the acting.

This episode will forever be enshrined in memory because of the great, "crown's mine, *****!" line. Also love possessed Martha in it, and surprisingly KK did comedy really well too.

Spirit is another episode that has its moments but it is pretty terrible plot wise. AOT did a good job with her role, ED looked SMOKIN in that dress, and of course there is the classic "the crown's mine bit*h". But overall the episode is bleh..

Wasn't big on it, but when compared to Ageless, Gone, Bound, Spirit, and Sacred, it wasn't that bad. Not an episode I pop in the DVD player on a regular basis, but it had some fun moments.

the very ending was Both touching and sad at the sametime. Touching because Lana and Clark finally got to dance they never got to do at the first season. Sad becuase again Chloe is in the sidelines looking in. I felt sad for her becuase she is watching Lana and Clark dance with sadness in eyes. And with the song by Lifehouse playing in the background, it was more lovely and heartbreaking.

One of my least favorite episodes. I'm burned out on some of the FTOWs and this one seemed tacky. The prom scene with Lana and Clark was just akward - she looked horrible for a change, too. What was with her hair and dress? She majorly overdid the act nervous reaction; I see this as a filler episode that's rather pointless. Martha was corny as Dawn, rolled my eyes at that scene, guess I just don't have the needed sense of humor to enjoy it

OutlawAngel
03-20-2006, 03:44 PM
The Marths scene was more creepy than funny to me.

And yeah I can understand Jason's snapping point. Lana seems to send manyof her Boy friends over the edge doesnt she? But I think Jason was the 1st I really really felt sorry for and hated Lana for playing around with his head like that whether she meant to or not. I never have forgiven Lana for that. Whether they were on good or bad terms right now they were still a couple and Lana pretty much just threw herself at another guy, Like she is now doing to Clark with Lex it seems.

Over all I liked this episode ok. It was over all funny and enjoyable to watch. I will never get 'La La' out of my head though.

I had heard so much about this episode that I went in with high expectations. Perhaps that is why I felt slightly disappointed by it.
yes it had some great moments:
MarthaasDawn,
ClarkasDawn (the line is classic, of course!),
Chloe's horror at being up for Prom Queen.
It was also nice to see the nod to Tempest.
But mostly this episode just felt forced.

You and Me by Lifehouse

I wanted to cry. That's me and my boyfriend's song and Smallville has desecrated it with the abomination that is MORE FRICKIN CLANA.

Is anyone else just completely sick of Clana? Seriously.

RyanStray
10-24-2006, 11:27 AM
Why would you be sick of Clana? How does Clark sharing a dance with his High School Sweetheart at the Senior Prom = an abomination?

More importantly with logic like that, what planet are you from?

smallvilleobsessor17
10-27-2006, 01:25 PM
Yeah, seriously. I can never get sick of Clana, nor is it an abomination. An abomination, for example, the murder of a baby. Not a teenager's first love.

Not a mistake. That was where Chloe found out that Clark is allergic to kryptonite. It comes up later in Commencement when she finds him in Lex's study.

Anyway, Spirt: Favorite. Episode. Ever. It's not nessesarily the best thing the SV team has ever put together but I love it so. The minute I hear Dawn say "Excuse me, coming through..." off screen I just start laughing and I don't stop until the end when You and Me plays. All the actors did a fantastic job at playing Dawn, especially Annette whose scene in the kitchen has gone down in history (at least in my mind) as one of the funniest things ever. And who could forget "Crown's mine, b****!"? Also, Dawn's car accident is probably my favorite wreck on the show for no other reason than the fact that Lala was playing over it.

The subplot with Jason, Lex and the dead Briggitte Crosby was a little less successful. I was kind of upset that they killed her off for something as dumb as one of the stones of power. I would have liked Clark to still have a contact with someone in the Virgil Swann Foundation. But it did have some great moments. "I even did one of those Google searches, they kept asking me if I was looking for Bing Crosby." :rotfl: And Jason's phone conversation with Gennievieve after that where he finally shows his true colors still sends a shiver up my spine, even though I know it's coming.

I give this episode two very enthusiastic thumbs up. Genius.

What did I think of Spirit?

1) I liked the scene with Martha, Clark & Lois. Martha was supposed to be Dawn Stiles, and Martha/Dawn says to Clark Kent: "So, this is your little secret. You're taking her (pointing to Lois) to the prom, aren't you?

Clark Kent just laughs and answers, "Lois?"

Lois answers Martha, "Mrs. Kent, a lot of things are possible, but there will be men on mars before Clark and I go to the prom together."
(That was a nice transcript, with Annette O'Toole playing the part of Dawn Stiles. Tom Welling was funny when he laughed about it, looks at his mother like she's crazy and questions "Lois?" Great acting by Annette O'Toole, Tom Welling and Erica Durance).

2) I also loved the Chloe & Lois scene and Lana & Clark scene:

I loved it when Clark was so sweet and kind to Lois Lane and says to her, "You know, I was thinking, since you did get all dressed up and you came here with me, you should at least get a dance out of it."

Lois looked really happy that Clark Kent asks her to dance with him, but she kindly responded with, "Chivalry noted, but I'm not the one you want to dance with, Clark. She is." (Lois Lane points at Lana Lang as Lana walks through the door).

I really loved this quote from Lois Lane: "Chloe, you are headed for Metropolis. You are destined to be a big-shot reporter at the Daily Planet. Do you really picture Clark Kent being able to keep up with you?"

Chloe (knowing Clark Kent's secret) answers Lois, "You know, Lois, I think Clark Kent might have a lot more to offer than you realize."

Lois having doubts about Clark answers, "I wouldn't bet on it."

3) Here is my favorite part I liked best of all:

Clark Kent asking Lana Lang to dance with him! I've been waiting for ever for Clark & Lana to dance at the prom, since the beginning of Smallville.

Clark Kent kindly asks Lana Lang: "May I have this dance?"

Lana Lang happily answers to Clark, "I thought you'd never ask."

Need I say more?

I'm only on Season 3 with the DVD's...but I couldn't help but watch this episode out of order. It is a hoot for sure!!! Martha and Lana definitely played the best Dawn's. Martha's dancing and singing...need I say more.

I've also been waiting since the beginning of Smallville for that Prom dance. Beautiful song for a beautiful couple. Their dance was breathtaking.

Yes I loved the song and the dance, How good can you get, it was just so beautiful..

this episode was so AWSOME but i noticed a mistake.

clark went to prom because he needed to take lois and be her escort. but when chloe saw him at the prom he said he came to see her win the crown..clark lied!!!

Swie
06-03-2007, 03:22 PM
When has Clark NOT lied? He lies to everyone.

Anyway, I thought the Clana was stupid. I was like... "Finally! we have a bit of Clois!"

Then Lois goes "You wanna dance with her." and I thought: "She's pointing to Chloe who has a crush on Clark. Ok. Lois can be sweet."

But no.... it was Lana out to cheat on her boyfriend. Ugly Lana, to boot. Did Cloe or Lois steal her perfect pink dress?

Dating Jason is not THAT taboo. We had several college people at our prom, for example. What happened to sticking by your bf?

The prom dancing ruined the ep for me.

Anyway, the Dawn impersonations were great (yay Martha!!), but overall it was a shallow, pointless episode...

No one seemed very upset that Dawn had been killed... sure she's MEAN but she was sorta sweet, too... no one even tried to talk to her or stop her, even when it was obvious who she was possessing.

Seems like this is one of those love it or hate it episodes. In my case, I love it! I like all the episodes where the characters act out of character.

The one thing I think they went overboard with was how hard Clark/Dawn hit Chloe after the famous line. I mean he just clocks her across the room and seconds later she is ok. It's actually kinda funny.

Anyway, great episode. I'm not even a Clana fan, but it was nice to see Clark get his wish to dance with Lana at the end.

This episode was hilerious, my favorite bit was when Dawn was in Clark;

Clark/Dawn: You can't stop me Mr. Kent!

While it wasn't my favourite episode, I found it to be ridiculously brilliant! The performances by the characters who played Dawn were priceless. To quote that prom queen herself it was ..."genius!"

Martha Kent stood out for me as a spoilt teenager hahaha frickin hilarious! Ofcourse, the best line went to Clark as some highlighted..."Crown's mine, b****!"

Chloe has found out more about Clark's secret with the meteor rock making him sick/weak. I like the idea that she hasn't told Clark that she knows. Great for the plot as a whole, gets you excited for later episodes.

This was an interesting episode for Jason. We get to see more of his dark side. He's behaviour reminds me alot of how Lex can be or will be. Obssessed with the artifacts, deceiving his girlfriend and now committing murder and pinning the blame on Lex and using him to hide or get rid of the body/evidence. I think Jason watching Lana and Clark at the prom has kinda pushed him into a jealous rage. He doesn't look happy at all does he?

Th only difference is that Jason is doing it out of family loyalty while all you get from Lex and Lionel is mistrust and deceit. I think it's these sorts of intimidation pushes Lex on to the brink of darkness. Lex feels weak in these sort of situations which brings about the dark force inside him. I've highlighted in my first ever discussion on here when i talked about my favourote episode in Onyx, how fascinating and important the Lex character is to the show even if he appears for a short time during the episode. A calm but chilling performance by MR yet again. He's the best!

What also goes unrecognised on this show is the brilliant casting. The cast members are perfect for this show.

Finally Lois looked incredibly sexy in this episode! WOW! :p

Martha, Clark, and Lana played a great Dawn. Martha was better though. I loved Anette's acting in those scenes, especially the one with Clark and Lois. and Clark's "The crown's mine, B*tch" has to be one of my favorite Smallville lines ever.

*shrug* I don't know. Did he even have the crystal at that point yet? I don't believe he did. And besides, it was more for extracting phantoms, not meteor rock spirits, I'm guessing. John Jones (The Martian Manhunter) would've probably been able to extract Dawn Stiles if he'd already been around (which he wasn't, but still). I really enjoyed this episode. It was so incredibly funny. It was cool seeing all the different actresses (and Clark) in their rendition of a Dawn Stiles impersonation when they were possessed. It was so poetically just, too, that Chloe was elected prom queen, even though I have always been mad and frustrated that Lois pushed Clark to dance with Lana instead of her own cousin, who she knows likes Clark. Argh. Seeing Martha dance while eating ice cream and singing that song was worth it though, lol -- hilarious!

There's a difference between a gay man and a neurotic blonde. Gay guys who try to be feminine tend to overdo it, and its kind of annoying, really. They're very flamboyant and they use their hands when talking much more than actual women do. Bleh. Anyways, I agree with you in that Clark wasn't that great in acting like Dawn. It was sort of awkward and he was trying way too hard. LOL

Watched it again... Loved it again! Seriously, it's one of my favorite Season 4 episodes, and it's certainly one of the most hilarious episodes of the entire series. Getting to watch each actress's interpretations of Dawn Stiles -- her mannerisms, tone of voice, etc. -- is a laugh-riot with each new scene and transfer of her spirit. I enjoyed seeing all the different Dawn incarnations, but even with Clark's and Lana's very funny portrayals, Martha's has still be, by far, my very favorite. Hey, I just looked up earlier on this page and saw that I said something very similar to this 16 months ago. :p Yay for continuity, I guess, right? ;)

Okay so I'm one of very few who more cringed then laughed at the Martha dancing scene? She was funnier when she spoke as Dawn, but man I didn't think she was all that funny. I think Lana possessed by Dawn was pitch perfect though. I don't get why Kristin get all this ****.
Kinda laughed when Jonathan simply said that Chloe wasn't acting like herself... I mean common, he knocked him down the stairs with an axe... lol. Dunno why I found that funny though.
Dawn!Clark was hilarious though. I wished for her to possess a guy through the whole episode and then she was in Clark for too short of time!

Martha singing La, La was too funny. I hated that song but after I watchd this episode I couldnt stop singing it

Some people just shouldn't dance and sing in the kitchen. :D

the very ending was Both touching and sad at the sametime.

Clark and Lana getting their dance was the best thing about this episode. It was very romantic. As for Chloe, does anyone know exactly when she stopped acting like Clark was cheating on her whenever she saw him and Lana together? I hated to see the little dark cloud over her head, but by senior year, she had to know a thing with Clark wasn't happening.

^She wasn't dead. Later when she sees her mangled self in the hospital she kills herself. I think it's funny that she cares more about getting to the prom than ANYTHING else... including being disembodied. LOL!

Seriously! Talk about messed up priorities.

But no.... it was Lana out to cheat on her boyfriend.

Dancing with someone does mean you're cheating on your boyfriend.

Dating Jason is not THAT taboo. We had several college people at our prom, for example. What happened to sticking by your bf?

The problem wasn't that Jason was a college student; the problem was he was a member of the faculty dating a high school student.

The prom dancing ruined the ep for me.

Oh, snap!

even though I have always been mad and frustrated that Lois pushed Clark to dance with Lana instead of her own cousin, who she knows likes Clark.
--SGuthrie ><>' :)--

Because, if she did more than likely Clark will be probably focusing on Lana instead of Chloe on the dance floor and Lois knows how Clark feels for Lana she does not want Chloe sad for that and Lois went to Chloe to cheer her up.

One of the worst episodes of Season 4. Clark and Martha were the only saving grace with their impersonations.
