I love the ending of this episode. I just watched this again and the interaction with Clark and Lois is great at the end of the show. He comes in, she thinks she is out. Dinner in the oven. She's the cutest damn thing with her double dimples. There is a point in there canversation that they are close up of Lois and Clark is blurred in the background. That would make a good desktop image. Thats great foreshadowing. :) And I happen to think she is the best looking in the series. Maybe it is the age for me. Don't think I don't agree that the other girls are quite a sight to look at. I certainly wouldn't look away, but you just see their relationship growing into more than just the friends.
Granted, I am talking about this show after we have already seen the rest of 4 and now season 5 but I am considering the relationship with Lois up to this show, not with the following ones. I think the final scene is one of the better scenes with Clark and Lois just talking. Cool. I just wanted to say that. And we have a new thread for Lucy. So it is a good new start.
For the most part I liked this episode. There were a couple of things that jarred me out of it, though. Lucy's attempted break in of the Talon followed by her reactions in Lex's mansion to the plans for capturing the "bad guy"(Methos! yay!) made it way too obvious that she wasn't being honest.
Also, the scene where she and Lex were playing together had that moment of "oh, look, she's moving the bow but not her fingers and my god could that look any more fake". At the very least they should have rethought how they shot that. They've gotten real musicians to do hand close-ups of things before, and they could have easily done it in that instance and then done a quick cut to her turning around so that we never actually saw that the actress wasn't playing. I realize some people may never notice this, but after 10 years of band and choir work it tends to be something that I look at. :p

Not a bad episode, my only gripe with it is the pre-credit, James Bond 'Spy Who Loved Me' ski-chase scene makes no sense. We find out, at the end, that she's in cahoots with these guys. So, why the high speed chase?
It served no purpose. I didn't mind the guys lurking at the Talon, etc., as it was designed to give everyone the false sense that Lucy was on the up and up.
But the whole thing didn't add up. Maybe if the pre-titles sequence had been reworked.

I thought that Lucy made a deal with Max after the teaser. He wanted money, she didn't have, so she tells him that she's going to America soon and that she'll con the money out of Lex Luthor. He agrees but follows her to make sure she's not lying.

I haven't had 10 years of band and choir, but I noticed it too. Very badly done.

One thing I don't understand about this episode. Why did Lana try to hide the stone from Jason? And who was responsible for the robbery?
LexLuv180
03-20-2006, 06:06 AM
I think Lana was just suspicious of Jason by this point and wanted to hide it 'just in case'. She set up the robbery herself, trashing her own apartment fool everyone. For once she was sneaky.
UpandAtom
03-20-2006, 10:52 AM
When could she have possibly done that? She couldn't have done it before Jason was picking her up because he would've noticed if he went to her apartment. And since the Talon was full at the time, someone would've noticed if a person tried to enter Lana's apartment.

I just watched this again, and I have to say it REALLY gets on my nerves when lois calls her dad 'THE GENERAL'
Oh and Lucy was HOT!

Why exactly do they call him the General when talking to other people but (atleast Lois) calls him daddy when talking to him? Just kinda crazy to me.

I think it is just a matter of respect...I don't think she is necessarily endeared to her estranged father but still calls him Daddy to his face (even if it is in a mock sarcastic tone)...

This is probably the most boring episode of Smallville ever. It is not the worst but it is one of them. The plot and everything just completely bores the heck out of me, which is disappointing because I have never felt that way about an episode of Smallville. I mean there were episodes that I disliked but they were not really boring either, but this episode was just boring.

Possibly out of sarcasm.
I enjoyed the episode.
Although a musician, I didn't see her fingers. I was looking elsewhere. ;)

and when they came back the Apartment is messed up? I'm guessing they came back after a run average time an hour plus? but before Lunch?

I don't think it's out of respect it's out of distant or NO Relation to their Father. So they call him General, cause that's is how they were treated rather than being treated as Daddy's little girl. It's a Char Build for Lois besides Luce's intro.
and Lois Calls the General daddy cause she has more intimacy with him cause she spent more time with him comapred to Luce. and it won't be sarcam if we saw them really argue and she calls him daddy then it's not out of sarcasm.
Yeah same reaction here, Mythos!

yes, i loved it! both the scene and the song that played in the background. the first time i watched this episode i ddidnt like it that much but on 2nd viewing i enjoyed some moments a lot specially this last scene, lois's disasterous attempt to cook the breakfast and of course clark's jump. another thing i liked was the way it showed lois. she was so protective of lucy. loved it when she tried to set lucy free while they both were captured. also loved her comment "thats the thing about sisters you can love them without really liking them"

I watched this episode again last night. I had only seen it once before and that was before seeing Commencement and I realized that the song they used in Commencement after Lana's helicopter has crashed and she is crawling out of it and up to where the spaceship is, they use the same song as is used over and over agian in this episode, especially around the time leading up to the kidnapping of Lucy and Lois. Did anyone else catch this?

At first I thought I was watching James Bond (even the music was similar) but this actually turned into a pretty decent episode. While the sibling rivalry stuff wasn't the greatest, most of this eppy was pretty good. I loved Lucy hitting on Clark and Clark turning to Lex for the money (did he spend all of Season 4 just asking Lex for favors or what?! ). THe scene on the truck was exciting and Lucy getting away was good.
The ending in the barn was pretty well done too until the stars colliding thing. I thought that was a bit much. But a very underrated episode, I thought.

I like how lucy was cast; I think lucy (whoever the actresses names are.) and lois matched real well, they actually looked like real sisters.
Overall the episode wasn't that crash hot for me. I liked Clark's jump on the track and the way his super hearing was done though. And that quote in the end between lois and clark was nice; how clark admitted being a friend (then agreeing not to admit it to anyone!). I'm enjoying seeing their rivality.
I was watching the lana scene towards the end; thinking lana had the stone and I was right! I haven't seen any episodes after this so I'm hoping lana goes to clark with this.

I only watched the episode because of the girl playing Lucy. (Peyton List - Lucy)
Like she would definitely play a well-done job of Lois Lane if she had the chance to. But she said that if there were anymore eps that involved Lucy in it again, she'll be right there to snag and play more sisterly-like to Lois.
So yeah, even the way how both Clark and Lucy had bonded together seemingly was so genuine, she was cute, and he returned his flirtatious charm back to her, but what happens? Oh. Lois and Lucy get into trouble and get kidnapped.
Even the part at the end where both Clark and Lois are talking at the loft, the one song (Dunno what it is, but it was really cool) like when the part of the song, 'and now it all begins.' two comets collide and hit each other, almost as if to say, that Clark and Lois had found some... Friendliness within each other.

What did I think of Lucy?
I thought that this is the best acting I've seen from Erica Durance, out of the whole 4th Season of Smallville. Especially when she was screaming at her little sister, Lucy.
I also liked a few of the scenes in Lucy. This is one of them:
Clark and Lex
Clark: I don't know why Lucy would run away. I mean, Lois is her family.
Lex: Just because you have the same blood running through your veins, it doesn't make you family. Look at us, Clark. I am a product of my father's breeding. He needed an heir, but your family chose you out of love. I'd take your family any day of the week.
(Clark smiled at Lex).
Clark: Lex, do you ever miss not having a sibling?
Lex: I used to...until I met you, Clark. You're closer to me than any...blood brother.
(What I liked about this scene with Lex & Clark was that it reminded me of their friendship way back in the 1st Season of Smallville. Clark is talking to Lex as if he were his friend again, while in other episodes of the 4th Season, he would treat Lex as if he were an enemy. For example, Devoted, Jinx, Bound, etc.). I liked the compliment that Lex made to Clark, especially when he said, "I am a product of my father's breeding. He needed an heir, but your family chose you out of love. I'd take your family any day of the week." This made Clark smile at Lex. It's great to see them as friends, again. I also loved how Clark would ask Lex if he ever misses not having a sibling. After this question, Lex responded with, "I used to... until I met you, Clark. You're closer to me than any blood brother." I miss these old Clark & Lex scenes, what you would call "the good old days").
I loved Clark Kent's & Lois Lane's sense of humor. Especially:
1) Lucy: I'm willing to sleep in the barn.
Clark: That's okay. Lois can sleep in the barn.
2) Lucy: Thanks for asking me to stay. I don't know how to repay you.
Clark: Just tell me plenty of embarrassing stories about Lois. (It was funny when Lois Lane came over and puched Clark in the chest. Ouch! That really must hurt Tom Welling).
I loved the Chloe & Clark quotes, when Clark says to Chloe, "I guess, no matter how bad you want to, you just can't save everyone." Chloe answers Clark in this way, "But it doesn't stop you from trying, does it, Clark?"
(Clark just looked at Chloe like he couldn't figure her out, yet. It's as if he were thinking, "Whatever does she mean by that"?)
Last, but not least. I love the Clark & Lois scene at the barn loft:
Lois and Clark
Clark: You know, I don't think Lucy is all that bad.
Lois: You're amazing Smallville, you always look for the best in people, even when they walk all over you.
Clark: I guess that explains why we're friends.
Lois: Oh, we're friends now?
Clark (smiling at Lois): Well, I mean, I won't tell if you don't.
(This is the best part. Lois Lane pouring her heart out to Clark about her sister, Lucy. She told him about the telephone call she got from her father about him blaming her about losing Lucy. Clark told her, "So that's why I heard all those screaming sounds." Clark, as always, looks for the best in people and tells Lois he doesn't think Lucy is all that bad. Lois compliments Clark by telling him, "You're amazing Smallville, you always look for the best in people..." Clark humorously says, "I guess that explains why we're friends." Lois: "Oh, we're friends now?" Clark smiles at Lois and answers, "I won't tell if you don't." I thought that was the best part of Lucy. Then you see 2 stars colliding into each other as if they're in love. Do the 2 stars stand for Lois & Clark? This episode was great)!

That's the whole impression I'm getting when seeing those two stars collide. But if you look at it in some ways, it almost could tell that Lois & Clark have a profound liking within each other. That's why I love that part, as if to say their friendship as the part of the song quotes, "and now it all begins."
I'm dying to find out who plays that song. It was great and I want to get it!

Couldn't agree with ya more :)
A boring episode in a so-so season. IMO Lucy looked ugly and out of place. I hated her character.
The girl's saving grace was the semi-intelligent conversation with Lex. It's rare that a character has anything to say to him except the usual "I have a secret/want your secret/give me money/stone/etc.". I'd have loved to introduce her to Lionel for a sec, too.
Good to see that people still remember: Lex and Lionel are used to a bit more than college football and mystery reports... hanging out with farmboys and teenagers must get boring intellectually. Brings back memories of business-savvy!Martha.
Lois was good. This fleshed out her character and made her sympathetic.
Lex's "we're brothers" speech is so out of place. The look Clark gives him screams "riiiight... you keep thinking that....". Lex was pathetic.
Especially after Clark asks for 50 grand that Lex loses, and Clark SARCASTICALLY says "glad you got something out of this." What happened to the kid who got shy when Lex gave him concert tickets? He's been getting more and more spoiled every season, and Lex just encourages him.
Lana... she's like a five year old when she tries to ignore everything so she can suck face with her bf, even though as Isabel she tortured a bunch of people.
About the only good thing in this episode was Lois and Clark's end scene. And Methos.

I liked this episode. I think Lucy did a great job playing Lois's sister. They left it as a cliffhanger with Lucy getting away. I think they should bring her back for another episode.
I think in the comics she dates jimmy. So that can be a reason to bring her back right there.

I think it's a case if you a Lois fan you will love it, if you not you'll find it mindless filler. This definantly a huge episode in the CLark/Lois relationship because it was the first time that Lois really let down her guard talking to Clark(story about her and lucy's relationship) and also the final scene was huge as well because Lois wasn't sarcastic

I wouldn't mind if Lucy guest star in Smallville again.
Yo, Lana...wow.
So let me get this straight, She trashed her apartment pulling everything out of place. Act if off when Jason was there saying it was a robbery. Saying maybe it was Lex or Lionel who took the stone just to find out in the end that she took it. Wow Lana, wow. Secret and Lies.... you never change. smh.

Well maybe Lana didn't arrange to trash her own apartment, and in that case she was genuinely surprised by the burglary.
And she could have hidden the stone herself (just to be on the safe side),
it would make more sense for her to look for the stone at her secret hiding-place when she's alone, if she was surprised by the burglary.
But if she did arrange to trash her own apartment i guess she wouldn't worry about the stone afterwards (why would she then look in her secret hiding-place if she knew it wasn't gone?)
But what I really don't get is, why would a thief just leave a bunch of obvious clues to her/his/their burglary?
By the way, really like seeing Clark trying to tame that bit Truck :D

but dident like the plot
I honestly don't get what is wrong with the plot. Person(ie Lucy) gets in a bad situation and the hero of the show(ie Clark)does all the heavy thinking, comes up with the right conclusions and saves the day. There was very limited angst and the show ended on a happy note. That to me is Super Hero writing 101 and a formula I wish they would use more often.
The only fault with the episode in my eyes is the first opening doesn't make any sense that the guy is chasing Lucy, then we find on later in the episode they working together. All the really needed to do was have Lucy make one off hand comment how something happened between the ski scene and her coming to Smallville that got them working together.

I really enjoyed this episode a lot more than I thought I would when I rewatched it today. It'd been a long time since I watched "Lucy," but it has quite a few redeeming qualities. Originally, I guess I was just bored because there wasn't much Chloe, and I wasn't a terribly big fan of Season 4 Lois, but I found her to be a lot more charming in this particular episode for some reason... Lucy was also a very interesting, realistic, three-dimensional character and I think the show has done itself an injustice by not bringing her back already. There were some great moments with Lex as well. The "Oh my goodness, who took the stone?!" part of the show wasn't quite as thrilling, as it wasn't really connected at all to anything else that was going on. I do wonder though... did Lana ransack her own apartment to make it look like a break-in? Or did she move where the element was hidden, and then someone else broke in to try to find it?

I always watch this episode on a weekly basis. I just adore Lucy Lane *hence my user name ;)* but I would like to see Lucy back in Smallville for another episode or two, because she needs to help Lois keep Clark Kent on the line ;) I just love her sense of "innocent fun", she really made this episode worth watching. Heck, Peyton List is so beautiful. Clark was willing to help her out, but Lois rebelled against her. I always love that truck scene with LoLu as well, how Lucy said she was "envious that Lois had their father; the General".
Almost every single fan fiction I have made, involves Lucy in it, the majority of the times. I guess I'm hoping Lucy will come back to Smallville, so that she can keep Lois on the line as well... :)

This episode gave us the chance to see Lois and Lex sharing some scenes and Clark gets ti know a bit better how Lois really is: a person who cares a lot about her friends and family.
