A deadly virus makes bad dreams seem real.

Just saw this one again today, and I have to tell you, it's not all that bad. It doesn't have the kind of tension that other mid-season cliff hangers have had in the past, but it still works. It's puzzling how they handled 'Good Lionel.' I get that the power of Superman healed him, and that Lex's darker side brought him back, but it felt like nothing of consequence happened during his *good* phase.

He was bad. Arrested. Cured. Became good. Freed. And then was bad again. A strange circle. Anyone else feel this?

in lana's nightmare when she saw everyone around her dead that she cared about did anyone notice she saw chloe and jason but not clark or anyone other like that, i thought after all the times he saved her he would be there

I noticed that too. I figured it tied into the idea that Clark is immortal. Even though it's Lana's dream, she must know that on some level.

Did you know that during Lex's dream that the scenes of missles launching and exploding around the earth is the exact same scene from the end of Terminator 3!

Why did they use that? It is like they stole it but I'm sure they didn't, they probably got permission to use it. But when I first saw it that was my impression. Couldn't they have made their own scene for that?

I liked Lex's deleted scene nihgtmare better then the one we got.

It would have been cool to see Martha's and JK's nightmare

Clark? What about Nell? The woman who raised her.

What song was playing when lex was having his vision of bombing the country when he was in the white house?

My guess is that the people Lana saw were those that were still a fairly large part of her life. In her nightmare, all of the people she saw would have "left" her alone had they died. In the cases of Nell, Whitney, Clark, and Henry Small, Lana made a decision to end/change those relationships (i.e., choosing to stay in Smallville when Nell moved to Metropolis; ending her relationship with Henry Small so he could save his marriage; breaking up with Whitney while he was overseas; choosing to go to Paris even though Clark wanted to give their relationship another shot).

Of course, it could just be that it would have been impractical and too expensive to have all of Lana's loved ones laying dead in the morgue. If nothing else, the scene would have been much too long.

Just puit pf curiosity becasue there have been a few episode's where it show's Lex bombing the country and stuff I just want to know does something like that really happen in the comic's or is it something Smallville just put in there to show how bad of a person Lex will become one day?

I loved this one. Would have liked to see the parents nightmares too but I understand there's budget and itme issues. I liked the Lex vision they didn't use either, very dark. The scene with Lana and CLark in the hospital was priceless, and him walking into the lab telling them to use him. And of course heating up the serum with LEx and the Dr. standing there, priceless. Great episode all around.

The Exposition was great at 1st i thought it was Clark's Dream. But when he got knocked out I then think it's Lana's.

Plot Holes: Looks like Jason Teague was thrown out of the balcony barn and from where did he fall off from couldn't be from the 2nd floor appartment. to far and wrong angle and direction.

Where is Mrs. Teague? when her son is dying?

Shouldn't Chloe be suspicous that Lana is is crying her eyes out? when did Chloe learned about their relationship and should there be a scene where lana tells chloe to keep a lid on it?

Isn't Lex dream the same as 1.06 Hourglass

The Deleted Scenes were Great! should have been included.

They should have sticked to the oedipal Dream and made adjust ment to the script as mother being sad and crying about Julian first then to anger and disapointment when she refers to him as like his father.

I totally agree, I was gonna post a new thread about that....It was lana's dream and in a way she still loved clark so I wish he was in there

I didn't care much for this episode. And I wish they had used Lex's deleted scene nightmare rather than the one they did (yeah, shades of Hourglass, there).
Clark's nightmare....I know he's always been afraid of how Lana would look at him if she knew the truth so that made sense.
And I loved the moment where he says that they can test him to find a cure. Very 'Superman' moment as we all know that he would be willing to give up his secret to protect/save those he loves.

What did I think of Scare? I liked it for 4 reasons:

1) Lionel Luthor's quotes on Scare:

Lionel: I understand your cyniscism, Warden Stone, but I assure you, I truly am a changed man.

Warden Stone: Or just a smart one. Ever since you proclaimed this sudden conversion to our resident St. Paul, there hasn't been an attempt on your life.

Lionel: I want only to be of help to others. What is the value of my sinful life, unless I use it as an example to shepherd fellow sinners. To lead them away from the allure of hedonism and mistrust and greed. To follow a better way.

2) The Clark & Lana scene from Clark's nightmare, especially the part where Clark says to Lana:

Clark says, "The meteor shower is the reason I am here. I'm from a planet called Krypton. Lana, I wanted to tell you. I didn't think you would accept me."

Lana: You're not even human?

3) The Clark, Martha & Jonathan Scene:

Martha (to Clark): I know how much it would mean to you to be able to share your secret with Lana.

Clark: As far as we've grown, I think about it everyday.

Martha: I hope our own fears haven't gotten in your way. I would hate for you to look back and regret not telling the people closest to you. I mean, there is a chance that Lana would understand.

Clark: There is, but what if she didn't?

Jonathan: Clark, look, I'm not sure that it's Lana... but I'm sure that someday there will be someone you can tell.

4) The Clark and Chloe scene, especially:

Chloe: So, popular question of the day. What is Clark Kent's worst nightmare?

Clark: When I woke up... everyone that I knew was gone. I was completely alone.

Chloe: I wish I could say that I'll always be there for you, but... Somehow I get the feeling that may not be a promise I can keep. You were the only one that came out of it, Clark. And I don't think it's because you've been taking your vitamins.

Clark: Chloe.

Chloe: Look, you know what? You don't have to tell me. I know that I gave you my word... That I was going to stop all of this prying, but... In these last few months I got a taste of what it was to keep my mom's secret... And I've never felt more alone.

Clark: It's weird when people think they're close to you... But have no idea what you're really going through.

Chloe: Yes. I would hate to live my whole life like this. But after fessing up, it's amazing how quickly that feeling of loneliness disappears. I mean, if you can't tell your best friend, who can you tell? Right, Clark?

(It makes you wonder what Clark Kent was thinking; the way he looked at Chloe, probably wondering if he should tell her his secret).

Have any of you guys noticed that in lex's dream of world destruction, the clips look EXACTLY like those of of terminator 3?
The part when all those missiles are traveling around the world.
Take a look and compare as the resemblence is uncaney.

I loved in this episode when clark had his nightmare and Lana realized he came with the meteors amd she said "how could i have been so stupid" i thought it was funny Clark's own mind makes her out to be stupid.

I saw it last night. Strange how bought Jason and Clark had a dream about Lana stabbing them. When Jason was in the barn fighting Clark I knew it was a dream because there's no way Jason could beat Clark like that. Kind of gave it away when Clark and Lana started kissing on the bed. I just did'nt know who was dreaming. I thought Lana was dearming at frist. I'm like dose this girl really think about killing Jason. I later found out it was Jason dream all alone. Guess he feel Lana would betray him for Clark.

Lex did'nt even seem scared in his dream. He was smiling when everybody died. Was'nt this the same vision he had from hour glass during season one?

You know I watch the deleted scenes for this eposide. They were going to make Lex see his mom then his mom blames him for his brother death. His mom also say that he wish he was never bron. I think they should have put this one up but instead they deleted it.

Apparently we are to believe that Lex told the whole city about how Jason coerced Lana into a relationship (from Lex' point of view), Lex may only have told the School board about Jason dating Lana, but when Lana argued with Lex about why he did it they also talked about Lana getting a scarlet letter around town and that she has lex to thank for that....

Other then that this is great episode to hint that Jason may already now be working with he's mother, to find out more about the stones and Isobel of course since he wouldn't have that kind of dream about Lana saying those things if he didn't have anything to hide

This spooky episode gets 6 out of 10 Undead-Lizard-Lanas from this SGuthrie! Some of the "nightmare" sequences were pretty cool, but others got a little bit over the top. It was a rather cool method to showcase what each character's deepest fear was. Clark's dream of another meteor shower was a nice prophetic moment pointing at what would occur in the season finale, and that Lex scene from "Hourglass" is classic, so it didn't bother me too much that it was reused -- especially when compared to what they'd originally planned on showing from the deleted scenes (mega-ugh!).

I'm glad they went with the scene they chose for Lex's nightmare. I actually cried re-watching it. Out of everyone, Lex's worst nightmare will be the only one to come true. Poor Lex, back in s4 his worst nightmare was becoming evil/like his father and thats exactly what happened :(
