An accident occurs while Chloe enters the Luthorcorp plant that gives her the power to make everyone tell the truth, which becomes much more problematic than one would hope.

This is my favorite season three episode...it is funny, and intriguing, and AM, TW, KK, and all the directors and producers, and writers totally out did themselves...

I totally disliked Chole in this episode and it took me awhile to get over how she treated people and made them admit to things they really didnt want to. I like her character much better now but at that time I really was not pleased with her.

They really didn't make it clear while it was happening that the reason she was behaving oddly was because of the Levitas in her system. They point it out on the commentary, but it doesn't fix the fact that it wasn't said in the episode until the end when Clark says it and forgives her (which was a very sweet scene, by the way).

I don't get how Chloe doesn't question how Clark got to the car attack that fast and stopped it.
Just another time where no one can explain things.

since Chloe was knocked out, she probably doesn't know how much time has passed.

This episode makes my top 5 favorite episodes. Lionel's confession was awesome. Also we got to see how different Clark and Chloe really are, Clark has powers and uses them for good and Chloe has powers and uses them to help herself.

This episode proved what I suspected about Chloe all along. If she was forced to choose between people's privacy and getting a good story, she'd go for the story. It just shows how Chloe doesn't care about anyone and just disregards their feelings when she can see it benefit herself.

The only thing that annoyed me about this episode was that the project was named "Levitas" (a quick Google reveals the meaning to be "lightness", easily seen in the form of words such as "levitate"). Granted, my knowledge of Latin isn't great, but surely "Veritas" (truth) would've been more suitable? The similiarity in how they sound actually make me wonder if someone mixed up the words.

I wondered that myself. Surely Veritas would have been a better name? Perhaps it subterfuge on Lionel's part?
This was a pretty cool episode. The truths that Chloe found out were facinating (the gay football player! I loved it! and Pete finally confessed his feelings!) as was her puzzlement that Clark wasn't reacting to it.
A cute episode and Allison really shined.

I just saw Truth for the first time.
Matter of fact I've seen S1-S3 for the first time EVER in the last caoule of weeks and love the show.
Outstanding ep. The Chloe/Clark apology and forgiveness scene near the end was *perfect*, and a reason why they SHOULD get together.
I'm a 41 year old married guy and it made *me* a bit misty.

Even above Lionel's confession, I found Lex's unexpected confession -- "I want him to love me" -- to be just perfect. The look on his face right afterwards, when he realizes what he's said ... it's like he himself didn't even know it until that moment. Priceless.

I think that the Levitas err Serum(Whatever:lol: ) may have affected her mind, and she isn't like that, she's a nice person:mad:
But whatever you think I d'care, I like it even if Chloe was a bit nosy, or, more nosy than usual ( ) but she's just a high school girl who wants the truth yet isn't obsessed with it like that...That Pinky Person! Personally I like any Chloe-Centered episode, besides Tomb and Spirit, this is one of the few episodes where Chloe gets a Chloesode!

Yeah i agree, I wanted to strangle Chloe in this episode. And it isn't the first time she's shown disloyalty to Clark. In season 1 Clark asked Chloe to stop investigating him, and Chloe chose not to delete the file on him. :\

^^She didn't want to delete the prom photos of her and Clark together, she didn't have a file on him back in season 1.
I really enjoyed this episode, it had quite a bit of humour- like when Chloe asks the jock who he would take to prom and he says "It'd be Fitz" As in RICKY Fitz the quarter back! Brilliant.

I don't think Chloe's behaviour while she had Levitas abilities makes her look like a bad person, it makes her look human. She's suddenly been granted this ability, and unwittingly used it before even realizing what she was doing...the temptation to use it for her own means was too great. To borrow a line from the Spiderman canon, "with great power comes great responsibility"...like many people, Chloe couldn't handle the responsibility she her ability gave her.
What was up with the old beater Chloe was driving in the bridge attack scene? She's been driving that little red Bug (which totally suits her) since Season Two I think...why the change for this one episode? Did they just not want to tear up a Beetle when filming the scene or what?
ONE WORD: AMAZING!!!
This is one of the first episodes of Smallville that I've ever seen...
Chloe/Allison was so great during this episode, and I liked the funny touch too :D

What I couldn't understand is: how come the needle Clark jammed into her didn't go through her a straight into the pavement? C'mon, now, Clark has incredible superstrengh, can knock out someone with one finger, and we are to believe that when hits her so hard with that needle that it doesn't kill her? Oh, well, only in Smallville, lol.

What did I think of Truth?
One of the things that were funny in truth is:
Clark: Pete's supplying the big screen, I got dinner.
Chloe: What? Clark Kent in the kitchen? What's on the menu?
Pete: Clark's gonna run to Metropolis to get some Shark Dogs from the stadium.
Chloe: You mean to tell me that Clark is driving six hours to pick up a couple of hot dogs?
Pete: Well, when Clark goes supersonic, he can make the roundtrip in ten minutes.
Clark: He's kidding. Come on, Pete, let's get to class.
Clark: What was that?
Pete: I don't know what happened, Clark! I never meant to say that! I just had this urge to tell Chloe the truth.
Clark: Well, next time you get the urge to open up, don't.
(I thought that Sam Jones and Tom Welling played a good part. Tom Welling looked really angry (when he was supposed to show how angry he was at Pete. Especially when Tom said to Sam Jones, "What was that? Well, next time you get the urge to open up, don't." Tom Welling did a fantastic job, the way he cornered Pete against the wall, and looked angry enough to punch Pete out).
Here's my last favorite part of Truth. It's the Clark and Chloe scene, at the barn loft. Chloe is talking to Clark, and also being emotional as she's talking to Clark about her feelings. Allyson played an excellent role as Chloe Sullivan. This is one of her best acts, and best Smallville moments. I loved this part:
Clark is studying in the loft. Chloe enters.
Clark: Chloe. How are you feeling?
Chloe: A little shaky. But I'm totally truth serum free. What ever you Pulp Fictioned into my chest not only kick-started my heart but also relieved me of any Levitas in my system so... that's good. Did you hear what happened to William?
Clark: Yeah. Between his mother's past and her arrest, he took quite a hit.
Chloe: I never meant to hurt him.
Clark: His mom's the one who should've told him. But that's the thing about the truth. It's bound to come out sooner or later.
Chloe: Then I guess it's my turn to come clean. When you found me on the bridge, I was on my way here. I was gonna ask your parents all the questions you would never answer.
Chloe: Look, I know "I'm sorry" has become a recurring motif in our relationship, but--
Clark: No, Chloe, um, look, I appreciate your honesty, but you weren't yourself.
Chloe: I really wish I could believe that. But there have been so many times when my curiosity has gotten the best of me. Maybe this is just who I am.
Clark: No. You're going after the truth. Chloe, there's nothing wrong with that.
Chloe: Unless it hurts the people you care most about. I'm just afraid that one day I'm gonna push too hard, and I'm not gonna get the chance to say I'm sorry.
Clark: (Smiling.) Today's not that day.
(Tom Welling had a nice smile, when he smiled at Allyson (Chloe). Clark gave Chloe a nice big hug as he says to her, "Today's not that day." This was my favorite scene, out of the whole Truth episode. Allyson and Tom were great together.

I disagree with the people that are complaining that Chloe was only caring about the story in this episode. Actually, this episode showed that the chemicals made her personality CHANGE which means that she really, cares MORE about other people than the story. However, even if she did happen to be that way naturally, does it really matter? I like the fact we seen another side to Chloe. Chloe has done more growing up in the last six years than I believe any other characters on the show. Why? She makes mistakes, she realises they were wrong and then fixes them. Thats what adults do. Chloe has really matured throughout the six seasons. Much more than Clark, who is still the young farm boy that we want to see develop into Superman.

Looking at the real world for a moment. There are a number of medical conditions where the possibility of making their condition worse is dependent on the mobility of the patient. Hence, hospital policy is likely to minimise the mobility of that patient. Without knowing the medical problem the normal response is to keep to the hospital guidelines which is to minimise the potential lawsuits.

As you can see on my Avatar, Chloe is my favorite character. When I watched season three, there were a few weeks toward the end of the season where I was getting extra busy, preparing to graduate from H.S., so I missed the episode "Truth" without even realizing it. In fact, at the end of the season I was convinced I had caught all 22 episodes... I never counted them, kept track of them or visited a smallville website so I had no idea about this episode. Now imagine my surprise when I randomly tuned in some two or three months after the season finale and saw this episode. I was like, "WTF? Where did this awesome Chloesode come from???" And since then it has been one of my favorites. =)

^^^^^ It's always been one of my favourites too, music man86. Wow - what a treat that must have been! I always assumed this episode was roundly loved but I've often heard people argue against it. For me it's such a strong episode that saw Chloe's "gift" carry a real threat to the exposure of Clark's identity. There are lots of excellent scenes (including those that are genuinely funny) but my favourite is the Lionel/Chloe conversation in the hospital. Chloe is so brave and Lionel is just pure menace! I love JG's expression when he realises he has to kill her. Plus the ending is a classic "the House always wins" scenario. Lionel was all-powerful back then.

Fantastic episode, start to finish. Everything really came together, and it was great to see the hidden sides to all of these characters that we'd grown to know and love. Chloe's darker side was very interesting, although I wish they'd given more of an explanation for it with the chemicals altering her system (it was implied, and as someone mentioned, it was said in the commentary, but I would've liked to have had more with that). I also would've liked to have seen Chloe apologize to the Mrs. Taylor for what she did to her, but aside from those things, the episode was nearly flawless.
JG's Lionel reactions were pure gold. Did anyone else notice those looks of slight...remorse? During two of the scenes: one was when Clark confronted him in the hospital, saying, "she could die...you couldn't care less." Lionel gave this sort of look that was hard to read, but to me seemed to imply he felt slightly bad deep down...maybe not in the fact that Chloe could die, but in the fact that he really couldn't care less. The other was when he asked Lex what he wants, and Lex said, "it doesn't really matter, Dad; I'm never gonna get it." Lionel totally knew what Lex meant in that moment and it saddened him.
Speaking of fantastic, subtle acting, whoever played Mrs. Taylor's son was great! His emotions were all so human. I loved that in the end, when he was ramming his car into Chloe's, that he didn't play it "evil", but was instead crying and an emotional wreck about what he was doing.
All the other actors were great; of course Allison Mac's performance was amazing! As was Tom's, as always, and Michael's...especially in the "I want him to love me" scene. As someone else mentioned, that scene was priceless.
Another thing to note was the music at the end. "Stabat Mater" by Paul Schwartz provided the PERFECT ominousness-before-the-storm feel, and I love how operatic music had by this point become almost a trademark of Lionel moments. Perfect music for the end, very dramatic.

This episode was really good. Just rewatched. Liked it even better than Legacy which I watched just before it w/ CHris Reeve. Real development and movement with characters and what's going on with each of them. And Chloe moving closer to finding out about Clark with Lionel's push. Great.
Clark saving Chloe in the car on the bridge...the teacher's kid going after Chloe...shocker. It had everything.

I have to agree with the "Today's not that day" line, it's one of those from Smallville that you do remember. Tom delivered it in a way that was at once, playful, tender, yet serious, a beautiful moment for Clark and Chloe, it's a keeper.

I've only began watching the series(Yes even at this year), but the episode was probably the most funniest of all the past 3 seasons. Especially the part when the 3 buddies were stuck in the Elevator, Pete really gave out the "Truth".
Other than that, the ending of the episode disappointed me.

Lionel owned season 3. He just confesses to a crime and has a calm, cool reaction. Chloe was the one with leverage, yet Lionel still forces Chloe into doing something. The best part is when Chloe asks about her father and Lionel says: damn right i black listed him, he would be lucky to land a job as a dishwasher.

Clark can control his strength so he doesn't hurt people. Otherwise he'd crush people when he gave them hugs (at least bruise their ribs and such), rip off his locker door everytime he went to get his books, etc.
This episode was even better to me watching it again. Allison just does this amazing job and the moment where Lex tells the truth of what he wants from Lionel is just a stunning moment of acting from Rosenbaum.

Yes, it was. ;)
However, Chloe deserved the big smack down for her behavior and attitude in this episode. She was pretty unlikable.
