"Scabby Abby" who grew up with really bad skin was picked on by her peers until a Kryptonite-enhanced plastic surgery treatment changes her forever. Unfortunately, this power also makes people have horrible hallicinations once she kisses them. Meanwhile, Lois enrolls at Smallville High, and Clark joins the football team.

This episode has one of my favorite Clois scenes. At the end when Lois throws a football and puts Clark in the dunk :p He was looking good in the water!) And then Lois runs over and rubs his hair, i love that scene between them two.

I liked that scene until the part with Chloe looking depressed and the musical tag of "So much for my happy ending."
I wanted to scream "GET OVER IT ALREADY" at the screen. Chloe hadn't been on ClarkKentCrushBrigade for a long time, so what the heck was up with it just coming back out of the blue there? Oh, right, forshadowing for Devotion, my bad.
I much prefer the Chloe that, yes, has a big time crush on Clark, but it doesn't rule her life and make her mopey because someone else has his attention. Especially since Lois so did NOT have his attention in that way.

I love this one for the Femme Slashing and Lois and Chloe fight. Agree on the Clark and Lois interaction.

The only thing that I remember about this episode was Whitney Fordman at the beginning of it. That's really all I can recall.
Oh yeah, and the ending with Clark getting dunked and Chloe looking sad. That was a great scene but sad for Chloe.

Aside from the awesome Clois scene at the end, not one of my favorites. It is funny because Eric Johnson looked considerably older. I do think it was cool of him to come back for a cameo. It sucks that they could not get Sam back as Pete for that opening. Also, I would have loved to see Dan Lauria make his return as Coach Walt. After Cassandra from Hourglass, CW is my favorite FOTW ever.

Ok this is what struck me.. isn't Whitney supposed to of died? According to Episode #2-11 "Visage", he is? So seriously WTF?

He is dead. That was a flash back to the Freshmen year at the begining because Lana was wearing her kryptonite necklace.

I really enjoyed the flashback. It was nice to see Whitney not grieving or being a bully. Only a shame they couldn't have gotten Pete to be in it as well.

I loevd the happy ending song with Chloe scene as well. This was an alright episode. The FOTW wasn't too farfetched or weird this time but Im just tired of them being used so much.

I liked the episode, and even liked the Lois and clark interaction up until the very end. Sad for Chloe. If the girl doesn't get a happy ending, she should at least get a happy middle or something.

I didn't care much for Facade. It just seemed like such an average Smallville episode. Although it was interesting to see the flashback (I noticed that they restyled Tom's hair so that it looked a lot like his hairstyle in Season 1, pretty clever).

no, she was going to that psycho doctor lady to see if she could get the tattoo removed and found out it was embedded under her skin so she couldn't.

No, I'm talking about how at the end when she was talking to Jason, she's like "when you look at me, do you wonder how much of me you really see?"

I'm confused....you mean did she have plastic surgery after that? or before that? I guess it doesn't matter because lana never had plastic surgery. If you mean to remove the 'curse' that Scabby Abby laid on her, well that was just an illusion. Everyone's faces were fine, they just saw the 'curse' when they looked in the mirror.

I just saw Facade for th efirst time yesterday. I'm a new SV fan working my way thru the DVDs for the first time.
I'm definitely a Chlarker, and was prepared to really dislike Lois from what I have read online but she actually was entertaining and does have some chemistry.
My only thought at the end of the dunking scene was OUCH for poor Chloe.
I *know* Clark ends up with Lois some day, but wish SV would allow Chlark to happen for a while, even though it would have to end, probably tragically.
They've done too much groundwork for CHlark -- which IMO they have maintianed -- to ever go anywhere with it.

I liked at the end where Lois dunks Clark and then rubs his hair. I had mixed feelings about the look Chloe gave them though. I didn't really want her to give up on Clark, but I also want Lois to be with Clark.

What did I think of Facade? There are 3 things I liked about Facade:
1) This episode showed that Clark Kent wasn't prejudiced against unattractive and unpopular classmates like Abigail. He was the only decent boy at High School who didn't call Abigail, "Scabby." He even defended Abigail as Lois Lane made a comment about Abigail. Clark quickly responded, "I think she looks great!" "What a shocker!" exclaims Lois Lane. "That's the problem with high school. It's all a facade. Everyone's hiding who they really are and trying to be something they're not."
2) Clark tries out for the Football team his Senior year. This is the first time Clark Kent sticks up for himself in front of his Dad:
Clark and Jonathan
Jonathan: Congratulations are in order. Coach Quigley called, you made the football team.
Clark: You don't have to worry, Dad. I won't hurt anyone. I know how to control my abilities.
Jonathan: The person I'm worried about you hurting, Clark, is yourself. You're going to be tempted to run a little bit faster...to throw the ball just far enough to win every game.
Clark: You think I'm gonna cheat? I won't even cross that line.
Jonathan: You won't even know where that line is, Clark. Come on, think about it. You're out there. Your friends are giving it their all...You're gonna do whatever it takes to win. That's football, son. And with you it's never gonna be a fair competition.
Clark: Well, let's talk about what's fair. What's the first thing you remember about high school, when you think back? Don't tell me it's not football. I want that too, Dad, and I'm sick of begging for the same chances that you just had. I want my own life.
Later
Jonathan: I guess practice ran late, huh?
Clark: Dad, I'm sorry I disappointed you, but I'm staying on the team. I'm tired of living my life on the sidelines.
Jonathan: I realize that, Clark. And I also realize that you're a senior in high school...and from now on you'll be making a lot of your own decisions. But if you want to be seen as an adult, in this family...then you're going to have to start acting like one. Adults in this family don't run off and do things without discussing them first.
Clark (smiling): I know. That's why I have just one more question for you. Are you going to let some assistant coach from Metropolis...teach your boy how to play football?
Jonathan: Go deep. (Jonathan throws a football at Clark, and Clark catches the football). Yeah!
3) Chloe and Lois talk about seeing Clark Kent in a wet t-shirt. Lois tells Chloe, "Like I've never seen that before." Clark teases Lois and she tells Clark he's going down. "That'll be the day," answers Clark Kent. She dunks Clark and flirts with him, as an unhappy Chloe looks on.

It was a good ending, but the action int he middle was kind of poor, definitely one of the weaker episodes for action. IMO, the reactions of Lana and Brett were a little melodramatic, Lana's injuries after the mirror falling on her could have been much worse than they actually were (I just didn't believe that they would hold her in the hospitol for some scratches that were barely there) and the fight between Lois and the freaky plastic surgeon lady was too fast and way too acted. It just didn't mesh to me.
Other than that, I liked it; I liked that Lois was taking a firm stand on something and that they were showing a bit of her journalistic streak. I liked the part at the end with Clark and Lois, it was cute (although I'm definitely not a Clois shipper). And it was sad to see Chloe being heartbroken yet again by two of her friends, especially after having just been rescued by them in the previous episode.

Loved Journalistic Lois, you can tell she is a natural investigator. Gives us that oh so wanted little glimpse into the future.
Why does Lana have to always be the one getting stalked by the FOTW? Why can't it be Pete for a change? What? He's cute. And Lana sort of accusing Jason for liking her only for her looks? What else is there Lana? Show us something more. Plus, how can he even answer her question? It is stupid. Had he told her 'no Lana, I think you're uggly I only like your mind' she would have been upset.
Clark and Lois flirting was so great. He seems to liven up when she is around. He is never just "Blah Clark" with Lois in the picture. When she scruffled his hair I thought she was about to kiss him. And sad Chloe at the end...hahahaha. Sorry, that was not nice.

I LOVE this episode and the end! I went back and watched it over... and over... and over! Also Clark looks his hottest in the dunk tank scene. I also love Chole saying "Come on let's go see Clark Kent in a wet T-shirt." and then Lois says "Like I've never seen that before!"

Watching it again on DVD, I was surprised no one picked up on the Clois foreshadowing, IMO.
If I can remember right...Clark was telling Lana how Lois is such a pain in the butt to him. Lana asked if anything was serious between them, and he quickly said "No." However, Lana replies by saying something along the lines of, "Thats how it always begins..." in reference of a Clois relationship...

Me too. They have such great chemistry. I think that this episode is really underrated. I love how it truly returns the show to it's High School setting and how Clark makes a decision to defy his father and join the football team.

Okay, just finished re-watching this episode and I've got a question:
The Lex and Lana scene at the Talon when Lana's books on symbols arrive, what was the point of that scene? It felt like Lex was going to reveal something, but then it cut away to Johnathan and Clark talking about football. I checled the deleted scenes and there is nothing on there about that particular scene.
The Clois stuff was great in this episode. Good use of foreshadowing, and even Clark and Lana's interactions basically admit that they are over and done with. Dunk tank scene is still cute 5 season later,:).

Facade ranks among my favourite Season Four episodes. The interaction between Lois and Clark in this episode was simply genius - watching the brother-sister relationship between them unfold makes me feel that awesome feeling of nostalgia :). It was cool for Smallville to explore high school popularity in its own way as well what with the 'Scabby Abbey' surgery plot which I quite liked. I also enjoyed watching Clark finally fulfilling his high school fantasy of joining the football team; it made the character regain a lot of the humanity and positivity that I personally felt was missing from the third season.

I just rewatched this last night. I am suprised I never picked up on the subtlety of the song during the final dunk scene.
Once the lyrics come to the forground we see
Lois throwing the ball and dunking Clark then all smiles: "You were everything, everything, That I wanted"
Pan over to Chloe: "faded out "wanted", We were meant to be, supposed to be
But we lost it"
Camera on Clark as Lois runs to rub his hair as Chloe fades out in the background: "All of our memories so close to me Just fade away"
Lois rubbing Clark hair: "We were meant to be, supposed to be"
Shot on Clark: " But we lost it"
Chloe noticing Clark and Lois having there moment while looking at both of them as her expresson changes from happiness to a bit jealous: "All of our memories so close to me Just fade away"
Chloe looking at Lois all happy and proud of herself: "All this time you were pretending"
Shot moves to Chloe looking upset: "So much for my happy ending"

I absolutely love this scene. One of my favs. The use of song in this scene was perfect as early Smallville often did superbly. Chloe's look of jealousy was so intriguing. If I remember correctly though, the rest of the season did not even hint at Chloe still liking Clark. The episode where she drinks the Kryptonite laced drink was the only one.

I think that scene was sort of a setup for the next episode in all honesty(ie the Krypto Koolaid one) more then anything else. That's the one where they basically had both say what they wanted and move on with there lives. Then Chloe magically morphed into Clark's BFF from that point on.

Meh. Bleh. Eh. I gave this 2 out of 10 botched plastic surgeries for a ridiculous FOTW, Lana knocking a mirror on herself and landing herself in the hospital (again), and the stompety-stomp-stomp on Chloe's feelings for Clark in that not-so-happy-ending scene. NOT an episode I enjoyed... not by a long shot.

Why does Lana have to always be the one getting stalked by the FOTW?
She isn't.
Why can't it be Pete for a change?
He left Smallville in S3. His mother took a federal judge position somewhere else.
And Lana sort of accusing Jason for liking her only for her looks? What else is there Lana? Show us something more.
There is a world of difference between accusing someone of something and merely asking a question. At any rate, I think Lois summed up Lana quite nicely to Clark--"Cute. Gutsy. Smart. Way too much for you to handle."
Clark and Lois flirting was so great. He seems to liven up when she is around. He is never just "Blah Clark" with Lois in the picture. When she scruffled his hair I thought she was about to kiss him. And sad Chloe at the end...hahahaha. Sorry, that was not nice.
