Clark and Lana FINALLY kiss, Lex and Helen have their rehearsal dinner, Dr. Walden wakes up from his coma, and Clark receives more messages from Krypton, instructing him that he is the "Last Son" and must rule.
Terence Stamp, who provided the voice of Jor-El, played General Zod in the first two "Superman" movies.

Pete wasn't at the rehearsal either. Do you think Lex would invite a guy who doesn't like him? Too bad Clark doesn't have that power.

I have not seen this episode in a while. But just from memory does'nt Dr. Waldon put a rather large hole in Clark's barn before blowing himself up? And then that same night Lana arrives at the barn and is seen by Chloe kissing Clark. Would'nt either one of these two characters question the events that took place at the barn (the large hole in the barn)? Is my memory of this episode off or is this just bad writing?

You're remembering it perfectly -- just watched it last night. Best way to explain that little mishap was that Clark very quickly fixed the barn soon after the explosion that killed Dr. Waldon. He has the ability -- best to think of it that way instead of another bad writing example!

This was one of my favorite episodes in the whole history of the show. I started watching Smallville during the first episode of the third season and I instantly fell in love with Clana and I still haven't stopped loving it. This episode was amazing!!

Aaargh!!!! I wanted to kick Lex'ass for steeling the blood and hiding it. I was like 'you *****' Don't blame me.... I really liked Helen and Lex, but I was réálly disappointed when Lex did that behind her back. I really thought Helen had a good influence on him so I was pretty irritated and in shock when I found out about it.
I saw the ep yesterday.... Two ep's a night from the dvd and I'll be up to date asap. :)

Oh the Clana-ness. "Take a chance on it".
"I didn't get too say how beautiful you look tonight"...
What a birthday wish too come true.
Love the Clana...

****WARNING: a few spoilers for season 3 just cause i noticed someone said they are getting up to date and don't want the story spoiled for them*******
I just watched this episode again since i've been going through the whole series in order for the past while..... This was definitely a pretty good episode although I still don't understand or like all the kryptonian messages that make Clark out to be some kind of bad guy.
The ending with Chloe walking in on Clana was pretty sad too.... she was trying so hard to be Clark's friend again and it just wasn't working. The whole " i'm a big girl and you're a big guy so lets just promise to be honest with each other" was sad cause Clark never actually answered, which implied he was hiding somthing/not agreeing. I'm pretty sure she brings this up in the next ep when Clark/Lana both don't tell her and she ends up taking Lionel's deal. It's kinda dumb though since Clark never promised anything and she basically knew about them anyways based on that Talon scene I think (or suspected it atleast). The problem with Clark is he knows telling Chloe about him and Lana will hurt her, but he doesn't understand that if she finds out through other means it will hurt her even more.
Chloe is also really emotional in these early seasons and her and Lex are definitely the characters who see the most development throughout the show (so far atleast).
The Lex/Helen relationship was sad in this episode.... I really liked this relationship and had soo much hope for it even after knowing Lex stole Clark's blood. I can't believe they made Helen into some kind of crazy murderer in season 3.... it soo doesn't fit with how she was in season 2. Also I just love Lionel he has to be my favorite character, JG just plays him soo amazingly almost every scene is a delight, like in this episode.
To top it off the clana business is alright in this episode I can't remember how long it lasted, but I think a good chunk of season 3 too (up till her injury from the horse because of crazy lex I think). The back and forth yo-yo stuff to come does get annoying at times though, but this particularly stage in it wasn't too bad.

The episode you're looking for is called "Exodus" (Season 2x23)
It's actually the one that aired right after "Calling" ;) Hope that helps!

So I just watched this episode ( I'm watching the whole show in order- waiting for the release of S7 )- and boy do I LOVE it :D :D
My two most favorite Clana moments are in this episode & everything else is AMAZING.
My first & favorite Clana moment: Lana brings a birthday cake to Clark & the two of them share a kiss with a beautiful melody playing in the background.
Love the moment when Pete enters the Talon & Clark, Chloe & Lana are just completely silent.
Pete: Everybody ok?
Clark: Yeah
Chloe: Great
Lana: Perfect
Pete: Just checking
The moment when Clark hears " The day is coming " & " Kal-El, it is time " are really wonderful. It so good that it give me goosebumps :D
Also the scene with Lionel & he nurse
Lionel: Send it to me
Nurse: Send you what?
Lionel: The hand.
My 2nd favorite Clana moment came after the rehearsal dinner when Lana came to the barn & " In this Life " plays- sadly Chloe watches them & leaves in tears :(
This episode truly is one of my favorites from the show- & it's a great lead-in to the season finale Exodus....
Loved the Superman score by Mark Snow at the end when Clark enters the storm cellar

This episode was heart breaking at the end. And the way Clark treated Chloe she put herself out there and he was too much of a wus. I would have slapped him upside the head. And then like towards the end when Clark and Lana kiss for the first time well the first normal time because they're not on anything and Chloe sees it. That just broke my heart. Clark was an asss to her in this episode and he deserved everything he had comming.

The Doctor in charge of Dr. Walden plays the electric chair psycho in "Committed." LOL!
The first Clana kiss is in this episode. I enjoyed it. Lana making Clark a birthday cake reminded me of the Season 5 episode "Oracle."
Chloe was making a bunch of Cinderella references. So that's one fan theory obsession illuminated for me.
One of the best things about the end of season 2 is Lex/Helen. I love their scenes and all the wedding preparations. Lionel is slithering around like the snake he is. Alas.
I feel sorry for Chloe but I understand why Clark is angry with her. She's send out mixed signals then acting like he's cheating on her and guilt tripping him. At first I was confused by the fact that Lana seemed to care more about Chloe's hurt feelings than Clark, then I realized that Clark is angry with Chloe for the way that she's acting. He doesn't want to apologize when he's done nothing wrong.
Lex is a kook for stealing that vial of blood. Lex/Helen bliss is over.
Dr. Walden's conclusions from reading the cave wall are very interesting in light of "Arctic." Very interesting.
I love the line reading Allison gives when Chloe says, "What possible interest could the Daily Planet have in a farmboy from Smallville." Oh I love the way she says that.
Chloe/Lionel seduction continues.
It's interesting that Lionel sees Chloe's loyalty to Clark as sacrificing her career for him. Very interesting. :D
Chloe goes to warn Clark about Lionel's interest and discovers Clark and Lana making out in the barn. I didn't remember all these happy Clana makeout sessions at the end of season 2. This skulking around and hiding from Chloe is silly. Lana should have just told Chloe the truth without waiting on Clark.
Lex/Lionel, Lex/Helen, Lionel/Chloe, sorta happy Clana, and especially Clark vs. Walden is wonderful. I loved Clark's engagement party speech. <3

I liked Helen and Lex's dinner in this episode. It is so much nicer than the one Lex and Lana has in Crimson. It seem's more real. Lana's dinner had all these people that she didn't really know and was so formal and stiff.

Formal and stiff seemed to characterize a lot of Lex and Lana's relationship. Whenever they had a celebration or a milestone it was rather formal and stiff.
I still think Helen is my fave Lex wife. Do you know there's a deleted scene where Lex and Helen never officially married. Clark blew up the spaceship and sent Lex and Helen's ceremony into chaos just as Lionel interrupted the ceremony. I never knew that!

Me too! :)I think Helen would have been an excellent wife for Lex. Why did she want kill him? He gave her everything she wanted. When she tried to kill him the second time she claimed that she fell in love with him so why did she not just stay with him and be his wife? I think Lex would have turned out to be a different person if Helen had actually been good to him.

Lana and Chloe were drama mama's in this episode. :(Beyond wanting to kiss her I don't see why Clark wants to get involved with Lana. She is too intense when it comes to relationships. She acts like Clark has all these secrets when he really doesn't. As I said in another post, she has lived one mile from this guy all her life, he comes from a good family and he has never been in any trouble. What does she possibly think he is hiding or keeping secret? The only thing one could suspect is wrong with Clark is that he might have a mental diagnosis because of his behavior in Red and Rush. Otherwise, why does Lana or, anyone else for that matter, think that Clark has so many secrets?
On the other hand, Chloe blames Clark because he has feelings for Lana instead of her and, low and behold, he actually acts on those feelings and he and Lana kiss (btw, I do not like the way Lana kisses. She seems like she wants to devour Clark:eek:). Why does Chloe think that she needs to be privy to their relationship and why does she think its her business? Also, why do Clark and Lana make Chloe think it is her business? Chloe knows how Clark feels about Lana and she always knew. Clark never hid the fact that he had a crush on Lana. Why doesn't she just suck it up and move on like she tells Clark in later seasons?
Of course Lex is Lex in this episode. For a rich guy his life sure is boring if he has to delve into the lives of people in Smallville. I'd be concentrating on Metropolis and going there every chance I got. I wouldn't even know what was happening in Smallville, but he just has to get his hands on everything concerning other people. He has Martha's medical file and Clark's blood. He messes up the best relationship he has ever had because of his nosy activities. Helen was really his last chance because he never has another relationship that was that good. What a shame.

I agree that Lana and Clark should have stood up to Chloe and drawn boundaries with her instead of pitying her and coddling her. To be fair, I think don't think Clark was taking Chloe as seriously as Lana was. They are young and so this stuff probably seems life or death. I can sort of understand where Chloe's coming from. They made an agreement in the Jonathan Taylor Thomas episode to all just be friends. I think Chloe was excited about that. Then Clark quickly goes back on it to date Lana. WORSE he doesn't tell Chloe about it. He's trying not to hurt her but she feels rejected AND shut out. Alas.
Clark and the Kawatche caves are a multimillion dollar puzzle that Lex wants to solve. Also Lex has been maneuvering to use the distance from his father and his influence in Smallville to create Lexcorp. So I don't mind his attention being focused on Smallville. I feel that they explain it well on the show.

That seems to be what he was implying, which is way weird, LOL, but sort of cute, I guess. I liked this episode a lot -- it had a lot of great moments. I loved Lex and Helen's relationship, so there was plenty to satisfy me on that front. Lionel's orbiting ever closer to pulling Chloe into his schemes was also pretty cool, and I loved the way she shut him down -- wasn't there some line about, "So you can take your job offer and shove it down your thousand-dollar pants?" Hahaha! Too bad she did a 180 degree turn and agreed to spy for him in the next episodes... :( Clark and Lana certainly were doing a lot of skulking around, though they did make those romantic scenes in this episode and "Exodus" pretty beautiful. I don't blame them for wanting to finally start their relationship; I just wish that Chloe hadn't been the emotional wreckage as a result. Bringing back Dr. Walden was also pretty cool, even if he did get deep-fried by the end of the episode... crazy guy that he was.

Just rewatched this episode and it's not quite as bad as I remember. Seems like most the stuff I hate from the Calling/Exodus combo actually happens in Exodus. I lower my negativity on this episode and change it from one of the worst 10 episodes to bottom 25ish. There is still enough negatives to not make it that enjoyable but it's not cringe worthy like Exodus.
1. The whole Martha not giving Clark birthdays scene to build up how wonderful Lana is still irks me alot
2. I hate the last scene of Chloe crying outside the barn while everything going right with Clark and Lana then boom Jor-El rears his ugly head(I just find it a very cheap excuse for Drama and rather they just saved that scene till Exodus)
3. Very limited action or plot of Clark vs bad guy, delving more on a soap opera style storyline. I watch the show more to see Clark fight bad guys not watch how his life sucks. Call me funny but give me episodes like Craving where at least Clark is doing something with his life instead of moping how it sucks.

as much as I dislike what Clark and Lana became as a couple in later seasons even I must admitt that I liked them together in Calling. I feel like there last scene together in Calling was the final good Clark and Lana scene.

I watched this episode last night and I thought it was a pretty decent penultimate episode for the season because it focused a great deal on Clark's destiny and it was pretty awesome seeing Clark & Lana get together back in the high school years where their relationship was actually watchable. Good chemistry between Lex and Helena as well. Give it a 9/10.
