Clark, Lana, and the Kents are all hypnotized to attack Chloe by messages sent through e-mail.

I have to say that when I saw this ep I never thought that Chloe was using her cousins name as a pen name.
Anyway I thought this ep was underrated. The Chloe/Lana fight was cool. The teaser was really unexpected with Clark driving the truck. And the first Lois Lane mention. My jaw dropped when I heard her name. Little did I know that she would become a series regular.

the lana/chloe fight was definitely cool. i was totally blown away! and the mention of lois lane was also very cool. one thing i thought was funny about the episode was when the kents are hypnotized and martha just picks up that pitch fork when chloe walks into the barn. martha looked like a psycho in that scene. it was so funny but creepy at the same time.

I loved the Chloe/Lana fight! I think it was just an excuse to get a girl on girl fight in the showers though :P I love the idea that people were getting hypnotized by emails althought (and its been a while since i've seen this episode) since when do Mr and Mrs Kent have emails? Or am i remembering wrong? O well :D

Why did Martha and Jonathan check their e-mails together? I don't know any couple that does that.

Well, since this brain-washing/hypnotism allows for an amazing amount of independent thought (like using the Kryptonite to stop Clark from stopping them from killing Chloe), I was going with Martha opening the e-mail and then calling Jonathan over so she could have help killing Chloe. It's a fanwank, but it's the best I got.

This was a great Episode I thought!
Best part was hearing Adam tell Lana that she was driving him nuts with her hurt little girl act. I loved the end with Chloe and Clark making up, I just kept wondering why Clark can't have that same talk with Lana
I also have to say I just totally crack up at the whole Chloe wanting to know "about the whole 'kill Chloe impulse' people were having" That just makes me laugh, I don't know why :D

Lana should have gotten arrested for attacking Chloe, not suspended. She used a weapon in school.

But in Smallville weapons at school is probably not a big dal since many of their students are killed by age sucking cheerleaders and such things as that

What I really loved the Lex scene where the girl's on the floor and he said that since every woman he's interested in turns out to be a homicidal maniac, he was getting a bit of a complex

I have a question/observation. This is probably just me looking too into it but here it goes:
in the episodes "stray" and "ryan", we know ryan can't read Clarks thoughts. We (or atleast i do) lead this to believe that his brain is obviously wired differently than the mere human. So my observation/question is why did that code affet him? It shouldn't have affected him like it would a human brain, since his brain works differently.
Also, of all the ways Clark could have managed to kill chloe, given all his abilties, why did he decide to run over her with a car?
He Who Lurks
04-06-2006, 02:12 AM
Well, seeing as a person's brain really shouldn't be able to be affected by binary signals anyway, let alone be able to subconsciously interpret them into some sort of instructions, I think some suspension of disbelief is called for on the subject of Clark's lack of immunity.
As for the powers, who knows? Maybe he didn't use them because Molly didn't know he had them, and so couldn't instruct him to use them.
maryjanewatson
04-06-2006, 10:07 AM
lol, that is true, but still! if they are going to make it so it works, it still shouldn't work on clark!
well, my guess is that the code just instructed to kill, but not specifically how. each person had their own techniques. like how would molly know that lana had mad ninja skills?

During that whole Lana/Chloe fight (which was about the only good part of Delete) I was wondering where the teachers of Smallville High were. Guess if you were a teacher there you wouldn't want to break up a fight between 2 students. Never know when one's going to be a Kryptomutant. LOL

Great episode, not a FOTW you just forget later. :)
I loved the Chloe and Lana fighting scene. There was one detail i loved with it, if Chloe wasent wearing that sweater/jumper she had on, the fight wouldnt have been so good.
And DAMN, Can Lana go on offensive or WHAT?! :D:D:D:D
And for the virus thing, the message was simple, KILL CHLOE. Appearently it affected on Clark too, as simple as that.

Yea, too bad the censors didn't allow any close-ups of the random onlookers in the shower (head-shot angles, of course). That would've added some dimension to the moment!

For me, this episode is very special.
The very first time we hear the name "Lois Lane" on Smallville.
God knows, i love her.

This will always be a great episode not only because of the Chloe/Lana Fight but because of the first time ever mentioned "LOIS LANE"...Gotta love it...
I remember when I had bought the season (this was were I didn't have the channel so I had to buy the season instead) and Chloe just said it: Lois Lane...like it was nothing but it ment soooo much more...my jaw seriously did drop and I rewound the disc and sure enough..Chloe said lois.... I was like OMG!! Lois is Chloe's cousin....whoa...
I'm so glad Lois is now a season regular...

They explained that in the episode. I forget who said it but somehow the body's natural defense mechanism doesn't allow mind control to make someone commit suicide.

I actually wrote and posted this several years ago when "Delete" first came out, but I thought i"d repost it since we're starved for new SV material with the strike. Also I just ressurected my website from being down for a couple years and just rediscovered this myself.
Anyways, it's a shot by shot breakdown of the most gratuitous and ludicrious catfight scene in the world. Some of you may remember it from before.
Anyways here it is, Hope you like it.

EPISODES: Delete
3) Delete:
My favorite Chloe Sullivan quote from Delete are these 2 quotes. She always has a way with words:
Chloe: Yeah. I can't believe you got us suspended. Thankfully, Adam was there. Those were some really nice moves. What was that --kung fu, judo?
Adam: I don't know. I guess I've watched too many Jackie Chan movies.
Chloe: Well, who would've thought it would come in handy in the treacherous halls of Smallville High?
I love the Chloe & Clark relationship in delete. This was an excellent script and an excellent scene. This is my second favorite scene from the episode Delete:
Clark: Chloe, you went to Lionel because I pushed you away. It seems to be one of my hidden talents lately.
Chloe: It's not so hidden. You know, I never set out to investigate you, Clark. It just -- it was so flattering that someone like that would be interested in my work.
Clark: It made you feel like you mattered.
Chloe: Yeah. And then Lionel set my dream out right in front of me, and I just... I don't know. I gave into all my worst instincts.
Clark: No, Chloe, he caught you at a weak moment, and we all have them. You found me at mine in Metropolis. You didn't turn your back on me. You gave me a second chance, and I at least owe you the same.
Chloe: I'd like that. So, what do we do now? We can't just forget about everything that's happened.
Clark: Well, you have to understand there are some things about me that'll never add up.
Chloe: I know that.
Clark: Are you willing to stop digging?
Chloe: Yeah. I mean, I figure you'll just... tell me when you think it's right.
(Which is what Clark did during the 5th Season of the Episode Arrival: Told Chloe when he thought it was the right time to tell her).

I just saw the episode again tonight. I'd never noticed Lois Lane's name being dropped in the beginning but honestly I'm not at all surprised... The only thing that still bugs me is was Adam supposed to be Bruce... cause he had mad kung fu and hacking skills....

I think I saw Evangeline Lilly in the scene wherein adam and Lana are in the smallville High hallway and adam teasing Lana about the mascot. You know the scene before the fight scene. She was in the background

Actually, Evangeline Lilly DID appear in Smallville, but it was back in "Kinetic," I do believe, or some episode around that period. I think she was hanging out with those bad-influence criminals that Whitney was associating with when he was so upset about his dad's health.
I LOVED "Delete." It had awesome fight scenes and great character-building moments. Some of my all-time favorite Chlark moments were showcased in this episode, such as the scene between her and Clark in the Torch where they finally fully mended fences and agreed to wait until the right moment to chat about his secret. The Chloe vs. Lana brawl was 10,000,000 times cooler than the fight between Clark and Doomsday in the 8th Season finale, which is pretty sad and lame. :p Still, this episode has warranted about 6-7 rewatches from me by this point. I'm going to wear out that disc before too long for all the Chloe goodness...

I just recently watched an old Dukes of Hazzard Episode and saw the car license number for the General Lee. Then i went back to this episode and looked at the email address that Molly used to email Clarks Parents to kill Chloe. Their email address was the General Lee's License plate number LOL
THought that was a cute point if anyone didn't notice that.
----- Added 3 Minutes later -----
They explained that in the episode. I forget who said it but somehow the body's natural defense mechanism doesn't allow mind control to make someone commit suicide.
Sadly they forgot that they said that years later in the episode Hypontic. I believe they had Sonia tell Lex to shoot chloe then himself (i havent seen that episode for a while but it was something like that i could be wrong)

You're right. Also, when Molly Griggs is featured in the Chloe Chronicles, she prepares to send out an email to lex telling him to kill himself... I guess she forgot about the whole "brain being wired to stay alive" thing that adam knight brought up.
I loved this ep, especially the Chloe/Lana showdown
That's the chloe I wanna see in season 9!

This episode show some of their lack of understanding regarding technology, now i've never been a PC-supporter but i don't think anyone would think that they have a virus from the vague description Lex gave ("my program keeps crashing and i don't have the time to deal with it") - while it's not nearly as bad as when Oliver got information about a IP out from a depowered router that Clark carried. (anyone ever heard about a wireless router with batteries in?)

Speaking of Chloe's mad hacking skills, I believe this is the episode we see Chloe in amazement of Adam Knight's mad hacking skills. lol
That scene always makes me laugh now when I rewatch it

Lana should have gotten arressted.
Arrested for what? It was a fight and Lana was under mind control. Same as Clark. Same as Martha and Jonathan. I don't hear anyone calling for Martha's arrest. She had a flippin' pitchfork. Plus Lana was disabled and Chloe wasn't injured by the ax.
