A woman with the power of pheromone persuasion (Krista Allen as Desiree Atkins) convinces Lex to marry her. Meanwhile, Clark has a hot new power...

i love this episode! i remember the first time i saw the episode and i first saw clarks heat vision go off, i was like "woah!". the effects for the heat vision are incredible! much better than the cheezy effects on "lois and clark" and the superman movies. and plus krista allen(desiree) was very hot in this episode!

Desiree was the hottest fotw ever. This was my favorite (power gaining episode). I loved petes line ''bring on the pain''. Season 2 was brilliant
The first time I saw this episode (I watched the first four seasons on DVD over the course of two weeks) I completely lost it when Clark's heat vision kicked in. I was cracking up so bad I had to pause and rewind and watch it again. Then I went in the other room, grabbed my boyfriend, and made him watch it with me. It was just so... so... WRONG!
And then him not being able to "practice" with Jonathan standing there. It was just way too much.
Then the popcorn.
:rotfl:
Desiree was kinda boring and very one-note. And the Lana Gets Pissy With Clark Because He Can't Lie Worth Crap moments that happened throughout this season was very very annoying. The one in here wasn't the worst of the bunch, but it was grating.

This was a fun episode. I loved it. One of S2's best episodes.
Kirsta Allen as Desiree.. DAMN. Talk about sizzling hot.
It has some of the best heat vision scenes. The ones I love are the training with Johnathan, and Clark lighting the candles in the barn.
This episode also has some really great Chlark moments in it. I love the side by side hug at the beginning, and the scene where Clark looks back at Chloe in class and she shakes her head and smiles.
Just a great episode overall.

Yeah it was funny how Pete and Clark were all drooling over Desiree and Chloe and Lana's reactions were classic.
I think this was the episode when I predicted correctly that Jonathan would have brain damage by season 4. Because dang he was always getting knocked out

I loved the "heat vision training"! Also, when Clark popped the popcorn with his heat vision was just too cute. Once again-Jonathan to the rescue!

Bo seemed amussed durring much of this episode I guess because of the 'hormone induced heat vision thing'
He seemed to have a smirk many times when Clark was trying to get a hand with the power.

^^^ Hence the name I guess!
Yeah this was a great episode.....they didn't perfect the heat vision effect until the next one- 'Duplicity'.
It's fun seeing the original version of heat vision in this one though. (You'll see what I mean if you compare 'Heat' to 'Duplicity' or 'Red'- his pupils light up more in future episodes)
Minor rant over!
We had some great action in this one, and yep Desiree was the hottest freak of the week ever : ]
I loved how every one was so sweaty in this episode! Funnnnny.
Quote time:
Jonathan (R.I.P): "Rule number 1- always practice away from the barn."
Chloe: "Lucky for us- Clark Kent seems to be immune to some members of the opposite sex."

Chloe: "Lucky for us- Clark Kent seems to be immune to some members of the opposite sex."
 Clex. I dont even look for the Clex moments. They are just so obvius in the early seasons
I liked how everything really had something to do with the title of the episode with the heat vision and heat wave and the hot FoTW. Nice way to tie everything in together

Just in case nobody else noticed it, towards the end when Lex came to visit Clark in the loft, Clark was reading Ray Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451" a classic tale of book burning. A subtle little addition to the episode.

Man this episode was saweet as. For one Clark gets Heat Vision :D and plus his biology teacher is a sweet as babe. I liked the whole storyline and thought the whole telling guys what to do was interesting. I thought Clark was gonna snap when Desiree was proposing that she and Clark get it on...you could tell on his face that he was feeling nervous...and in the heat wave the sweat was just pouring out. Jonathon was also good in this ep. Overall a great episode and hey any episode that inclue one of Clark's new powers coming out of the shadows is always awsome :D

I think he is sweating only because of his new emerging power. He was getting extreemly hot every time his heat vision started up involuntarily, and thats when we would see him sweating. at other times, he wasn't sweating as far as i can remember, because i remember thinking it was hilarious that no one was asking why the heat wasn't effecting him like everyone else. haha, the people in smallville are not very smart. I think all the meteor rock exposer has hurt their brains.

This episode gets my vote for most creative use of innuendo in a G-Rated or Family oriented series or program. The 'target practice' scene is still my all-time favourite SV moment.

What did I think of Heat? I liked Heat for several reasons:
1) Favorite Clark related moments: There are 2 favorite Clark Kent moments. They are:
A) (One of my favorite Clark Kent moments is when Chloe walks by Clark and he has a happy look on his face. I loved the look on Clark's face when he saw Chloe Sullivan. You could tell how happy he looked. And then they hugged one another. This is one of the best Clark Kent moments of Heat).
Chloe: It's good to see some things haven't changed.
Clark: Chloe!
Chloe: Hi.
Clark: Hey, you're back! Well, I'm glad you're staying. I really missed you this summer.
Chloe (with a bit of humor): Yeah, I could tell by the voluminous emails you sent.
B) The other favorite Clark Kent moment was the Clark & Desiree scene at Clark's High School at the locker. Tom Welling and Krista Allen played a good part in this scene where Clark gets mad at Desiree Atkins (a substitute teacher) for turning Lex against him and Lana Lang. Desiree could tell Lana Lang looked upset as she approached Clark.
Desiree (with a smile on her face): Hello, Clark. Lana looked upset. Did she tell you what happened?
Clark: Yeah. She mentioned that Lex is closing the Talon, and somehow, I think it wasn't completely his decision.
Desiree: Well, you're right. We made a decision as a couple. I wanted to prove a point.
Clark: To who? Lana?
Desiree: No, Clark, to you. I want you to understand something. I can control the people in your life. I had Lex close down the Talon in a heartbeat, imagine what would happen if I turned him against this town. Your friends. Or even your parents.
Clark: I won't let you do that.
Desiree: You want this to stop? Then stay out of our lives.
Clark (with an angry look on his face): I'm not gonna back off! And I'll find a way to get through to Lex.
2) Favorite Annette O'Toole Moment of Heat:
(This is the best Annette O'Toole Moment and one of her best acts on Smallville):
Lex: Mrs. Kent. I am truly sorry about Clark.
Martha: Are you, Lex? My son is in jail, and your wife put him there.
Lex: Maybe these fires were a cry for help.
Martha: Is that you talking, or is Mrs. Luthor talking through you?
Lex: Mrs. Kent, I would never ask you to take sides against your husband...please don't ask me to doubt my wife.
Martha: Any good relationship relies on trust, but there has to be room to disagree. Like the way Jonathan and I disagreed on you. He couldn't see through past the Luthor name, but I always thought you were truly trying to be a friend to Clark. Now I'm beginning to think Jonathan was right all along.
Lex: Believe me, Mrs. Kent, I never wanted it to come to this.
Martha: You know Clark! He's not a criminal. He's the one person who stood by you no matter what! Ask yourself, is he really capable of this?
Lex: I wouldn't have thought so. But I know Desiree.
Martha: Lex! You met and married her in a week! How well could you know her!
3) Favorite Clark Kent line is "Hello? Hi, I'm Clark. I'm the kid who can lift up tractors and see through walls."
Best Pete Ross line: Pete (to Whitney): "Watch how the pros do it. The town's still rebuilding after the storm, the first week of school is a bear, and you're missing the worst heatwave in 25 years. Bottom line, stay safe and come home soon. PS, the football team's toast without Fordman on offense.
Best Martha & Jonathan Line:
Martha: Tell me again your aversion to air conditioning?
Jonathan: Two words. Electric bill.
Best Lex Luthor Lines: "Quit staring Clark. You'll burn your eyes out."
Lex (to Clark): "All my life, I've had to second-guess the intentions of others. I'd reached the point where I'd started to think friends were a luxury I couldn't afford. Until I met you Clark. From the day you pulled me out of that river, you've been the one person I could trust completely."
Clark: Lex, I don't think having passion is such a bad thing.
Lex: You're right, Clark. Passion for life and work and friends is great. As long as you keep it in check. I should take a page out of your book.
Best Chloe Sullivan line: "Where there's smoke there's fire. Excuse the aphorism."
Best Lana Lang lines: "Going to the spring formal with Clark was not a mistake. At least you were brave enough to take the risk. Clark still really cares about you, Chloe. I don't want Clark to come between our friendship. Let's define ourselves by what we do, not who we date. Or don't date."
Chloe: Cool.
4) Sexiest/Hottest Clark Kent moment is when Clark Kent is outside the Kent farm looking at a scarecrow and says, "Lana." His eyes start to sparkle and the heat-vision sets the scarecrow on fire, and Clark succeeds in being able to control his heat-vision and is overjoyed over it. I loved Clark's smile on his face.
5) Funniest moment of the episode Heat:
One of the funniest moments of the episode was when Clark used his heat-vision to pop up some popcorn. He also used his heat-vision to light some candles at the Kent barn, which I thought was hilarious.
The other funny moment is this:
Jonathan: Rule number one. Always practice away from the barn.
Clark: Dad, I don't get it. I thought the whole point was to stop this from happening.
Jonathan: Well, in order to find the off-switch, first we need to find the on switch, right? Now, I want you to remember exactly what you were thinking about the first time it happened.
When Clark was saying "Lana," his eyes sparkled and sets the scarecrow on fire with his heat-vision. Then Clark comes into the house and says to his dad, "Dad, you were right. Once I understood what triggered the heat, I was able to control it without thinking about..."
(This was the funniest part, because as Clark was talking, the popcorn popped all over the place).
Jonathan: You sure about that son?
Clark: Trust me. Next time I have a date, I'll be able to take her out without setting her on fire.
6) What did I think of Tom Welling's performance? I especially thought Tom did a fantastic job at getting mad at Desiree (Krista Allen) when she turned Lex against Lana Lang and had Lex close down the Talon. I also thought this was one of Annette O'Toole's best performances on Smallville when she got mad at Lex Luthor for not sticking up for Clark Kent and having him go to jail for a crime he didn't commit.
7) I only wish that Clark Kent used his super-strength to escape from jail (by bending the metal door or by kicking the door down with his super-strength super feet). I know that he wants to do the right thing, but this would have been funny if he had thought of doing this.

Clark's heat vision was hot. Krista Allen was hot. Everything in this episode was hot.
Yup. The operative word for this episode is indeed ''hot''. Desiree's entrance in the classroom? Wow. She looked smoking hot. And later on in Clark's loft? I still find it hard to believe that a man would resist a girl with a clevage like that. Her scene in the pool was also really sexy. Her deleted scene with MR was also something...
Desiree's power was really cool and it looked good (the pink stuff). It reminded me of the Poison Ivy kisses in Batman and Robin.
Just in case nobody else noticed it, towards the end when Lex came to visit Clark in the loft, Clark was reading Ray Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451" a classic tale of book burning. A subtle little addition to the episode.
Yeah, I noticed that. Great idea of the props department.
Hahhah, I know!!
"Dad, I think it may be better if I do this alone"
And he pats him on the back and leaves.
Oh maaan.
The Elvis in the background was great too.
I laughed so much when I saw that scene. The music, Jonathan's smirk, everything was perfect.
The music was really great in that episode (hot in here, little less conversation). It suited the action.

I would say not from external causes (such as sunlight) but definately from internal causes (such as sexual excitement).
I dont know if its that he cant feel heat and cold, I think he can, but the aura that surrounds his body that makes it invulnerable would also protect him from harm from the heat and cold, his body temperature doesnt drop in the cold and he doesnt burn in the heat.

I think this is the first time Lex gets married. Lex and Clark acted like a couple in this episode.
LEX: "I thought our friendship meant more to you Clark."

Why was Deseree's power pink instead of Green...I'm only half way through the episode.

im a relative newcomer to smallville ive been borrowing the dvds from my friend. i just started season 2 and i really liked the episode heat. i liked how they showed his heat vision as waves insstead of lasers. the only problem is that if the heat is triggered by clarks sexuality why hasn't it manifested itself before. clark has clearly had feelings for lana for a long timehttp://www.kryptonsite.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif

This was a fun, fun episode. Clark's heat vision development (and its trigger) was HILARIOUS. Oh, man! The fact that he couldn't practice with Jonathan at his side had me on the floor rolling. And then there was Jonathan's reaction from a distance when Clark set the scarecrow ablaze. Pure gold. Desiree herself was kind of slutty, but then I wasn't her target.
Yeah it was funny how Pete and Clark were all drooling over Desiree and Chloe and Lana's reactions were classic.
Yep! They were perfect.
