What is brewing on Level Three? Earl Jenkins (Tony Todd), a man who claims to have "jitters" caused from experiments on that level of the LuthorCorp plant, wants the answers... and he's holding hostages until he finds out the truth.

Gabe Sullivan (Robert Wisden), Chloe's bad-jokes-making father, makes his debut here.

I didn't realize that someone else had been cast in the role of Chloe's Dad until I saw the deleted scenes. I think Robert Wisden (the actor in Jitters) is a much better choice.
Also can I say that I love the way Welling looks in this episode? I have been going crazy trying to find screencaps of the scenes in the barn (during the party) because I love Tom's look there (his hair alone...! *swoon*). I think he just looks great in Jitters.
But when doesn't he?

I agree, Robert Wisden was a better choice. He was in the stargate pilot. I just thought I'd throw that out there.

Anyway, Jitters is one of my favorite eps. It was supposed to be shown the week after Metamorphosis but due to delays it was held back.

really, I didn't know that about the delay.
And yeah, I remember Robert from the Stargate pilot. He's a good actor.

I loved this episode, lol. Thought it was a bit weird how the guy jittered so much, a bit funny, too.

I love this episode too. Love Lex going into the plant to help the kids and also love the MB being his usual MB-ish self.:)

Oh, and Jitters has one of my all time favorite episode endings, with Lionel fake-hugging Lex and Lex looking sadly over at the Kents. Such a sad ending. :(

I really liked this episode because we got some good Lionel/Lex, father/son time. May not be the prize parent you'd want, but you got to love them.. I know I sure do. I understand a lot of people may hate Lionel for locking Lex in the building, but I can't bring myself to have ill feelings for him.. Ever.

My favorite part in this episode is when Clark is using his superspeed to clean up and then Jonathan starts clapping. That was funny.

yes, i would have to agree. I don't even like clarks party. I only like the part where he cleans up the house after the party. he does it in super speed, and when he is done, his parents were watching him and phoney-aplauded him. it was funny, made me laugh.

HEY! thats the same for me, no joke! It was the first episode I ever saw of smallville, and I came in at the part where he was cleaning his house! it's what got me to start watching it, because I saw him using his super powers, and i thought it was pretty cool.

I always hated this episode...

But now that I've finally watched it again it is a really good episode. I guess the reason I didn't like it was because the jittery guy creeped me out.

His story is actually very tragic. And this story is right along with the earliest Superman comics in which Superman would help the working man wronged by the corporate big-wig...

Anyway I appreciate this episode a lot more...

Clana fireworks at Clarks "small and intimate" party...thanks to Lex...

I love Gabe Sullivan... I wish we could have seen more of the dynamic between Chloe and her dad. :)

Lionel and Lex dynamic... Lionel is just pure evil.

Lex saves the day! :)

This was a stupid episode

^LOL! heeheehee...

I think it was refreshing though to have a FOTW episode that was not a wayward teen. It also brought out some cool Lex/Lionel stuff and exposed the mysterious Level 3.

It was disturbing though and depressing. I wouldn't say stupid personally but I can see why you wouldn't like it.

so does this level 3 connect to level 33.1 in anyways?

i forgot the connection, someone please remind me. thanks

In level 3 Lionel was doing Green K expiriments on plants. 33.1 was where Lionel expirimented on humans. 33.1 has been ressurected (taken over?) by Lex.

I think.

Loved Tony Todd putting in an episode. It was light, but still a good episode. Level 3...

I watched this episode tonight for the first time in two and a half years.

Did anyone notice that when Earl Jenkins lets all of the students go, when Pete runs to Martha Kent, the audio and the movement of his lips don't match up? I wonder what the original line was...

i liked it, but it could have been better.
I enjoyed the level 3 scenes between Lex and Clark
and I liked how Earl kept all the smallville highschool students hostage, that was cool
Also the party in the beginning (and how clark cleans up so fast) was cool too.

I remember that. His mouth did move, but the words didn't match up. It wasn't the last time that was done to him, too. In the episode where he found Clark's ship his mouth moved, but there were no lines.

I've only seen it with him though. Maybe he cursed in the take and it was covered up.

I just watched this episode again in a lot of years and I love it all over again, really one of my favs from season one.

It has some funny scenes, that the current eps makes me miss :( like that whole party and the part where Clark cleans up the house and it's caught by his parents

Later all that Lionel/Lex's scenes were the best by far, Lex tries to save the kids and he actually does, I miss that from him so much. And Lionel's all cold and evil, and he doesn't even care if his own son gets killed  And the final scene when Lex looks at Clark with his loving parents, it's just so sad.

And then Lionel hugs Lex in front of the media to try and hide the secret of Level 3 and makes it look like he loves his son, while his son knows that it is insincere...

Just watched this episode again and it was pretty darn good.

The bit with Lex giving Clark fireworks for his party was cool, also when he said the field trip was rubbish.

I found it funny how Lex only let the Kents in at the gate, my favorite bit though is when Lex says to Lionel "Good job dad, I see you haven't lost your touch."

Great scenes with Lionel and Lex, that fake hug at the end is priceless. That's when you realize Lex is jealous of his farm boy friend.

I thought it was pretty lame though that Clark got sick around the guy... it's like they didn't know how to make it harder for him to save the day and they came up with this non-sense ''he's so infected with meteor rocks even Clark can feel it''.

I also really liked Lex in a purple shirt, so sexy.

Poor old Earl, another highlight from Seaon 1, Lionel rocked, as did Lex and the first introduction of Level 33.

I love the scene where we see Clark coming home and he sees a big mess everywhere, kitchen, living room etc.. He cleans it up using his superspeed and when everything is clean, he sits down and puts an apple in the fruit basket. Behind him, we see Jonathan and Martha, Jonathan is clapping his hands and Clark turns to his parents.

Clark: Hi. You're home early.
Martha: We called six times last night, spoke with six different people, none of whom knew who you were.
Clark: It was supposed to be an intimate occasion.
Jonathan: Clark, where have you been?
Clark: The hospital.
Martha: That's it. I'm never leaving home again.

I just loved that! :rotfl:

This is the episode when I official started to deeply dislike Lionel Luther, what a horrible father. No wonder Lex is going to become so evil! I liked how Lex was willing to go inside and sacrifice himself to save everyone else. Lex is a great character, not my most favorite but he is up there. The jitter think was kind of....different....the kryptonite rocks giving people powers is kinda annoying, but since they are alien rocks we have no clue what they are capable of.

Had a couple of the funniest scenes so far so I gave it high marks for that alone, the jitter guy and hostage story were weak.

I totally love seeing him like that, eating his pizza- listening to music. Always brings a smile on my face :D

9 not-supposed-to-exist-rooms out of 10 for "Jitters!" It felt rather epic and movie-like compared to a lot of the other early Smallville episodes. The tension ratcheted up as the episode continued, and as Earl Jenkins tried to find the elusive Level 3. Lex's reaction to his father's duplicity, and the last scene as he saw the Kent family's tender reunion, were great moments to watch.

Another good episode. The start of LuthorCorp’s evil projects, the start of Lex’s jealousy of Clark. Clark’s parents embrace him at the end because they’re proud of him. Lionel hugs Lex because the news cameras are around. 7/10

This episode has always been awesome! I like how in the early seasons Clark was happy like eating pizza and listening to music but in the later ones hes depressed and sad. In this episode it showed that Lionel dosent love Lex and the ending of this episode was one of the sadest scenes in Smallville history. I liked how in this episode Whitney was showing his weak spot like how he needed Clark in his loft and when they were in the Luthorcorp plant. I like the actor who plays Earl and Earl is one of my favorite FOTW. I also like the hostage plot-reminded me of the first Die Hard.

So Ill give this episode a:9/10

The episode itself was middle of the road. I did feel bad for Lex at the end when he watched the Kents loving on each other. However, I did not really care for Jonathan's stiff-necked attitude when it came to believing Earl's story about dire doings at LuthorCorp, especially since he was usually leading the "I hate the Luthors" parade.

I've been rewatching my Smallville DVD's and was looking forward to seeing this episode again. I loved it when I first saw it and still think it's good now (though it wasn't as good as I remembered it being, but few things are). I still love the stuff with the party (Lex and his fireworks) and Martha's concern.

And yay, Gabe Sullivan! What happened to him again? :p
